49 Mercury Race Car?
PowerPlant replied to PowerPlant's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's great, Greg, thanks, but I was hoping for reference pics of real cars Bill, there seems to be something wrong with your link... (edit: never mind, I see it now - thanks) -
Great theme. I like it very much

Orange Pearl 1970 Chevelle SS Revell
PowerPlant replied to Model Car Kustoms's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Those whitewalls are unusual for the car, but they do look great on it -
Amazing build, unusual color I have this kit too, but haven't gathered the nerve to tackle it yet You did a great job with it.

I have the AMT 49 Merc 3in1 kit which can be built stock, custom and... as some kind if race car. I thought about building the race version and went to do some research online, but I couldn't find absolutely any pics of a 49 Mercury racer, stocker, gasser... Anything... Were there absolutely no 49 Mercs ever used for racing? Does anyone know where I could find any pics whatsoever? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance, MATIJA

Very Interesting project. I wonder whether this kit bashes well with the Revell SLS?

Nice Chevelle. Welcome!

Thanks for all the great comments Yes, the camera is indeed a Nikon D40 DSLR with a regular 18-55 mm lens. The trick to a good photo, however, is "post-production"... For lack of a better program, such as PhotoShop, I simply use Photoscape - a free online photo editor which delivers quite amazing results in literally 4-5 clicks. Check it out

Roy Brown - designer for the Edsel
PowerPlant replied to southpier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, I always kinda liked the Edsel. This February I even had a rare opportunity to ride in a 58 convertible that is being used as a daily driver on the streets of Havana: R.I.P. Mr. Brown. -

Really nice weathering Are those the engine and wheels from the new rat roadster? -
That interior looks super clean. I also like the color

Although I do have a few ongoing projects already, I decided to start the AMT Plymouth I recently got in a trade here, and post it as my first WIP on the forum... I haven't got much for now as I'm now in the process of cleaning up parts, but here's a quick mock-up with some wide whitewall Firestones I also got in the same deal: Not sure exactly what I'll do with it yet, but I think I might bash it with some wheels and other custom bits from the 49 Merc. More to come soon. Thanks for looking, MATIJA

Realistic tail lghts
PowerPlant replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You don't. If you do everything tidily the way others explained above, it should look realistic enough without an actual clear piece over it -
I'm not sure what the point you are trying to make is... I don't think the community here has a "trust issue" when it comes to trading with newer members. I am a newer member and I have by now completed a few trades without any problems whatsoever. I also received parts for free and sent stuff without asking for anything in return... All according to agreement.
