Correct, 3 different two door closed roof styles, or four if you include the Skyliner retractable hard top. -MJS -
A question for all 1957 Ford specialists
Maindrian Pace replied to khier's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Club Sedan had a longer wheelbase than the Custom, and had a completely different roof line. Why Ford had two different two door post sedans is something of a mystery, but they sure did sell them all. Adding a pillar to the Fairlane 500 would get you much closer to a Club Sedan. The Custom chassis would most likely have to be lengthened to fit the Fairlane body. -MJS -

18 bucks is too much to pay for a master? -MJS -
models at pep boys!?
Maindrian Pace replied to blueoval92's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pep Boys has about a 1/2 Wal Mart selection; Streetburners, a couple of snap kits, and some hokey foam paper "kits". Nothing remarkable. All the glue kits are $19.95. -MJS -
Ok, I've had it!

I'm on a Mac with Firefox. No problems posting, no SQL errors, but a bit slow; although infrequently. These problems can be a real drag. -MJS -
Abandoned by Photobucket

I tried the new version for a couple of days, didn't see much advantage as I don't need the new features it has, so I switched back to the old version. I use Firefox, but when that gets cranky on a web site, I use Chrome on it. -MJS -
Very nice, reminds me a lot of a car a friend had in high school, an '80 Olds Omega 2 dr notchback in the same or nearly the same color. Almost the same car, really. His drove nicely, and was actually a good car until he wrecked it a few years later. -MJS

Motor Trend Car of the Year is...

The Model S is the first electric car that is truly compelling to me. All American too, they even mold their own plastic body and interior parts. I don't entirely disagree with this choice. -MJS -

The original XL fastback was one of the very few AMT kits of that era that had a poorly proportioned body. It's fairly bad, that new 4door is a big improvement. -MJS -
I know the thread is old, but Wow, what else can be said; it's among the best in the world of this type of build. -MJS

Is Ebay really that evil?
Maindrian Pace replied to lanesteele240's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
11 bucks is about what the USPS charges to ship a kit in the states Priority mail, go to their website and enter the box size and weight in the shipping calculator and see what you come up with. You can do the click and ship for Priority on the USPS website and print your own postage, but to get the cheaper parcel post shipping, you have to wait in line at the post office. I don't do that for small, cheap packages, because PO lines are among the most infuriating there are. I do it for big, expensive items because they are significantly cheaper to ship that way. Kit's sometimes don't fit in the flat rate boxes with enough room for good padding, so a bigger box must be used, and they nail you for the shipping cost on your own packaging, even if your box is smaller than the flat rate box. As for ebay, I used to sell like mad there, but I stopped that about 4 years ago when they got crazy with the rules that heavily favored buyers, and screwed sellers in any way they could figure out how to. I could go on and on about how their rules got ever more draconian to the sellers, but I don't feel like working myself up over them and venting to internetland about it. I do buy there, but I took the hint that they don't want small-time sellers any more, and so off I went. -MJS -
They probably can't call them Astros. -MJS
