brodie_83 replied to streetmachine11's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is not my usual era of builds that I pay attention to, but I'm glad I peeked inside the thread. WOW! Very great work here! Especially the engine. Keeping an eye on this lil guy. Fantastic work my friend! -
'91 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP build with a twist (updated 1/16/13)

Lawrence, absolutely! You find an SE flat hood and you've got yourself a louvered hood! So far I concur...this kit is VERY underrated. Very detailed and those details are very crisp. I used Duplicolor interior paint and t is he color is charcoal gray. -

Got a few pics of the interior. I really like how it came out! The sheen of the paint looks just like brand new leather. Not sure what I'm going to do with 2-tone colors, but I'll get to that some other time. Right now I'm just going to put these parts in the dehumidifier and let them cure. I gotta put one more coat of paint on the dash, then they'll be done. I'll do some of the detail work tomorrow. I think I'm going to quit for the night...I inhaled wayyyyy too much paint fumes. LoL! -

I've had this kit for years and I've been having an itch to build something different...I saw this and thought "what the heck" and grabbed it out of the closet and started right away! Ok, I'm in the middle of painting the interior parts (bucket, front seats, dash, door panels) and I'm using Duplicolor's Vinyl & Fabric Coating in charcoal gray. The factory color was a tad bit darker than this, but it'll fly. Stuff covers really well! I like it. I've used it before on an 80's Celica Supra kit and worked really great! I don't have pics of the interior parts yet, as they are still being painted, but here's a few options I've found for wheel choices. The 5-spoke wheels are from a '98 Firebird T/A kit and look exactly like the 1994-96 Grand Prix wheels. -

Well I already filled the grooves in the ground effects and bumpers, also sanded down the meeting lines where the front/rear parts of the front seats attach, layed down another layer of Plastiweld and filled a little hole by one of the bolsters. Those parts are in the dehumidifier to dry. After the seats are dry, I'll go over the sides with wet sandpaper and shoot them with primer. Now what to work on? Probably work on the chassis and suspension. -
This is awesome! I can't believe Dodge never made a full-size SUV...that's one thing they lack in their line-up. Make the Ramcharger again, in 2 and 4 doors.

Well folks, I was bored with a few of my builds that I never seem to finish, so I decided to start on the Revell '91 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP I had sitting in the closet. I did have the turbo GP kit, but I traded that off. This is NOT going to be a stock model... Here's the kit I'm building The lines in the ground effects/bumpers will be filled so everything is smooth I'm going to look for a louver-less hood to trade for my louvered one so I can make my own custom scoop(s) All of the engine bay will be cut out except for the radiator support (I'm keeping what's going in place of it a surprise) And the 3.4 DOHC engine will NOT be used in this build....I'm thinking I'll swap it into one of the two Fieros I'm getting in trades (a very popular swap in the real cars these days) The interior will be pretty stock except for the color scheme. As for what color I'm going to paint, I'm not sure. I'm kinda bouncing ideas off myself, like a white with blue racing stripes like the Anniversary T/A cars have, or flat black, or...I don't know really. If you want to see where this is going, please subscribe and I'll update this as soon as I get work done on it. Thanks for looking! -Brodie

I have this kit...it's an older version of it with the non/high-stack intake. Not sure what to do with it yet, but I do like the style of these cars. Looks good!

This is gonna look sweet...

Ah, first years...ok, that makes sense. I know all 3 of those vehicles were later offered in different colors. Gotcha.
-
The Syclone/Typhoon was offered in a lot more colors than just black...white, red, gunmetal (I think), etc. Same for the Impala SS sedans...they had a dark cherry and a dark green metallic as well. I don't know if I've seen any other color than black on the 454SS pickups though...anybody know?
-
Yup. No GN/GNX left the factory without the murderous black paint job except the X-Ray, and that wasnt built for the public.
-
There was a prototype or something called the "X-Ray" which was white with gray interior. I believe it was built with left-over GNX parts and only one car exists (I'm sure multiple replicas are out there though). It was a very cool-looking car! Might be worth building that as well! The only thing I don't like about this kit is that it doesn't have the correct turbo cover...still has the louvered GN/Turbo T turbo cover. A small detail and could be corrected carefully, but a detail non the less. Looking forward to picking one of these up! Thanks for the review! Here's a pic of the X-Ray:

I have that kit...I'm making a replica of my ex's '79 Elky. You did a knock-out job on this kit! I love the LS motor with the scratch-built intake and such. Great friggin job dude! -
I'm looking to build an R34 Skyline Nismo to replicate the Fast and Furious car that Brian drove (the blue one, not the silver/blue stripes). I have the Tamiya Nismo R34 Skyline Z-Tune kit, but it has the wrong front bumper. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to which maker puts out the best quality Nismo R34 kit, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Not a fan of 1st gen Camaros, but this one intrigues me...keep it up!

Love it...love the SRT Vipers!

Rocketman455, Jones45, JamesW, diymirage and Joe Chernauskas are all great traders! I've traded with Joe multiple times and he has sent some stuff that were missing parts, he found the parts and sent them no problems. Chief Joesph is a great guy to buy from...I haven't traded with him, but he has top-notch parts and sent me a sample part for free!

Not my taste in a build at all, but I suppose I'll still watch. I love the 3rd gen Camaros.

Lookin' pretty sharp!

3D-printed 1/24 scale 15" Vector Wheel
brodie_83 replied to Chief Joseph's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'm in for the multiple-piece wheels...it's all about detail and accuracy for me! I also heard about that GN documentary movie and saw a teaser trailer of it on YouTube awhile back. I'm guessing it's making it's way to DVD...I gotta have that too! Someday I'm determined to buy back my '87 GN that I never should have sold in the first place...I miss the heck out of that car! -
