I found this in a Dollar store a while ago and couldn`t resist chopping it up a little. Lowered suspension a ton, channeled the body, removed the box from the body and moved it higher up, built a new rear frame assy to fit the raised box. Got rid of the leaf spring set-up and made an I-beam style front axle, sectioned the Rad to accomodate lower ride height and shorted the rear bumper. Its just a simple curbside but was a fun way to burn off a few hours. I`ve never built anything this small before, it was tougher than I thought it would be to modify something so small. The pic below is what its supposed to look like.

What a nice car! Its funny how things can come full circle. When I was a teen I though hubcaps were sooo lame. If it didnt have a set of mags with wide rubber it wasn`t worth looking at, and now a set of dog dishes with steelies on any old musclecar turns my crank more than any set of mags. -
What the H you guys?!? I`m working on some basic stuff trying to get my skills & head back back to a point where I`m feeling good about doing some heavy fab work so I can jump into this race ,and you just keep raising the bar. There are some incredible builds happening on here.

This is looking really good Pat. L`il red trucks have long been a favorite truck of mine. -
Well.... I jinxed myself. I goofed up on the box and it had to spend some time in Lake Castrol so things took a little longer than I wanted to get to this point. I was able to finish the paint this past weekend and couldn`t resist putting the tailgate decal on. I cant wait to get the rest on the decals on, the decals are one of my favorite things about this kit. I went with a brighter yellow than the school bus yellow of the plastic. It turned out pretty decent and is BRIGHT!! I`m happy with it.

Some box art sends me right back to my childhood as soon as I see it. The Badman, The Monroe Handler and the Scottys Muffler shop 55 Ford which I`m currently building, are ones that come to mind right away. They`re were just too cool to resist and I bought them as a kid simply because the boxes were soooo cool. I mean if the box looks that awesome the model inside has to be equally awesome....right? Sadly I also bought the Revell 53 Chevy Panel (I`ll never forgive Revell for that kit) and the General Lee. Thank god for big brothers and firecrackers. I dont save the boxes either but I do have a few old favorites from the "olden days" that I have bought recently and when the model is built the box will be sticking around. I have no idea what I`ll do with it/them but having that mint, still in the wrapper 30 -40 year old box show up at my door after all these years made me feel like a kid again....I just dont have the heart to toss it.

Slammed 55 Ford Dually

Sadly there has to be at least one small minded person wherever we go. I wouldnt pay attention to him. Its a very cool build with some great out of the box thinking. I like it . -
I didnt realize there was a model of this car. I must have one! What brand is it? Btw, its looking great so far Rich. Look forward to more.

I`ve never seen a 53 Vette in any color other than white. I like it! Looks great in black, and the Zebra seats are a killer addition. Nice job!

I wish there were magic words but there is only time. My folks are still here but I`ve been there, done that too many times with siblings in the past few years to know that there is only time and you should take as much time as you need. I`m sorry for your loss Dave.

I can`t think of a better way to get back on the bench after a looooong hiatus from building than to build my holiest of Grails. The Scottys Muffler shop version of Monograms 55 Ford pickup, which I believe is also the original issue of this body. Circa 1977. I`m allready a ways in, with the body in primer and the frame and driveline done but it`s still got a few steps to go. A couple minor mods to accent the build have been done but other than that it will be a box stock build done to the best of my abilities. It`s been over a year since I worked on anything and 9 months since I have been able to get my head in gear to be able to build, so to start with this one feels immeasurably good. My original post on buying this so you know how much it means to me.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80234#entry1024069 Enjoy............
