I`m pretty pumped about building this one. When I start building again all other builds in waiting will go to the end of the line. This one was usually the same Cobra. It would rarely come up and then be at a crazy price. I got lucky and hit it on a day when all the stars were lined up. What one are you looking for?

A real conversation In a large corporate parts store a few years ago. It was nearby and I figured it would be the easiest place to go to. I was wrong. "Hi. I need a u joint for a 1970 Ford 9 inch rear end" " What kind of vehicle is it?" " Its a custom application, I just need a joint for a 9 inch" " I need to know what type of vehicile it is sir or I cant search for the part" " Its a 99 Jeep YJ" " Four wheel drive?" " Yes" " What motor?" Hmmmm, I think to myself. Do I tell him what used to be in it or really mess him up and tell hIm whats in it now?......... " It`s a 401" , He started it 'Hmmm, I dont have a listing for a Jeep Yj wth a 401" ''I know. It orginally had a 4 cylinder, now its got a 401" " Ahhh" "I found the 4 cyl model but it doesn`t list it as having a Ford 9 inch rear" "I know. Give me a rear U-joint for a 1970 Bronco" " Hmmm, I dont have a listing for a Bronco that old" " Thanks" Dial the usual place I go to which is 10 minutes up the road and locally owned. " Hey Wes, you have a u-joint for a nine inch" "Yup" " Cool, I`ll be there in 15" " It`ll be on the counter"

I was thinking the same thing as Helix. You nailed it on this build. this thing is soo cool!

Your Duster is a work of art Pat. So many very cool details...I love the fake tailpipe. It makes me wish I was still in this, it would have been an honour to suck the doors off it in my F-100.

Sorry for your loss Mike. I`ve still got my parents but have lost siblings in the recent past and know how much it guts you. For me what worked was to take a bit of time to clear my head and then get back into the things I enjoy doing. Remember the 62 Bel-Air Cannonballer I built? It was the first model I built after losing my brother. He used to have one so it was a perfect way to honor him and helped me out a lot. Bring all the rocks you can, the coolers on me.

Thats a bummer to hear Rob. I always look forward to see what kind of heap you roll up to the line in. You can hang with me and throw rocks at the others if you want...I`ll stock up the cooler.

You ever get ahead of yourself ?
A.R.C. replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I work too slow to get ahead of myself. -
Incredible work! I thought the first few pics were of a real machine that you put up for us to compare your model to.

I had to share this with everyone. I`ve been looking for this truck for a while without much luck and then last week I found one on E-Bay that was open but the seller wasn`t too sure if all the parts were there and he wanted a silly amount for it. I almost bought it anyway but my gut said to stay away. I always go with my gut but I was still bummed to be so close yet so far away. A couple hours later I stumble onto Deans Hobby Stop. Never been there before, seemed like a cool site, so I started poking around and lo and behold!!!! My holiest of grails still sealed and priced at a reasonable $24.99. I couldnt get out my Visa fast enough. Its not anything ultra rare or exotic but has a lot of meaning to me. It was a gift to me when I was a little kid by a loved one that was an even littler kid who passed away at a young age. I still miss him very much. The original went through many renditions and I still actually have it but its no where near stock condition anymore. I have wanted to find one to build in its original form to honor his memory for quite a while, so to find this was one of the best gifts I could ever receive. I`m pumped!! I confess. I had a tear in my eye when I opened this up for the very first time.

I decided that since Im not up to building I`ll just be the grumpy old man on the side of the road shaking his cane at all the punks going by way too fast.

Race cars of the 60`s are so sexy. Nice job!

Pretty tough talk coming from a guy driving a car thats powered by a blow dryer. The 57 looks very cool Nick. Congrats on the show win.

Please stop taking pictures under sun w/ metallic paints
A.R.C. replied to meaneyme's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
And while were on the topic. If you insist on being in the sad picture you take of your metal flake abomination looking dumb in the sun from 3 stories up; dont make duck face. It just makes you look silly. -
Thanks for all the well wishes guys, it helps. You`ve actually inspired me a bit. I may start work on my Cannonballer soon but wont be done nearly in time for the finish line.

Very cool. Fox body Capris are one of my all time favorite cars. I used to have an 82 White lightning edition back in the late 80`s to early 90`s. 302 and a 4 speed with the TRX Suspension package. Had a Holley hi rise with a 650 carb and headers. I`d like another one one day.

A.R.C. replied to ERIK88's topic in Model Cars
Here is one I built a couple years ago for a Cannonball on another site. It was a fun build. There are more pics of it on my thread...... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67311&hl= -
'40 Ford sedans...Exactly the same but different....from 35 years ago
A.R.C. replied to traditional's topic in Model Cars
It goes to show you how timeless some cars and builds can be. Built in the 70`s and they are all still head turners. Nice work! -
Well...I`m gonna call myself out on this one guys. With the lack of build skills most of you are showing I was a shoe in to win as well . Seriously though. I hate to commit myself to something and not see it through to the end but I was in a pretty serious motorcycle crash a few months ago that has left me tired and beat up. I havent even started on my truck yet and I just dont have the energy or inclination to do so anytime soon. There are some very cool builds going on in here and Im still tuning in regularily and like what Im seeing. Good luck to all of you, its gonna be a cool looking finish line.

This is absolutely amazing! The chassis is absolutely impressive even if you used a styrene motor, and then when you throw in the motor that you have created............just beyond belief!! Cant wait to see it finished.

One of my all time favorite race cars. Back in the early 90`s I got too see it purely by accident. I walked into a Porsche Dealership in Santa Monica and there it was sitting in the showroom, rather rough and looking as though it has just rolled in from the track. Made my whole day . Nice work! How did you scab up the tires? They look great.
