Well, I'll tell ya NOW Juerg, that bad boys gonna be NICE!!!! I hope your bud gives you free tune ups for that model. It's comming out GREAT! Oh, and I'm HAPPY to hear you FINALLY got your resin peices!(it was about time!)

AWWRITE Don!!! Only thing I can see is you foiled the ENTIRE area beteen the body side peaks. THAT was actually just painted metal, and there was a chrome spear that ran down the length of that dip. it was the ONLY chrome in that location. You actually chromed the ENTIRE body crease, which wasn't neccesary. ONLY the little spear was chromed. But other than that, you dun GOOD! See, it wasn't THAT hard! One more lesson learned! Great job!!

Rat Rod or not?
george 53 replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh I KNOW this is gonna start somethin, but Imma gonna say it anyways. There IS NO genre for these so called "Rat Rods" If these poor boys could go back in time, they'd be LAUGHED out of town! Those things called rat rods are just peices of junk put together to RESEMBLE SOME kinda car. If a guy WANTS to build a 50's era hotrod, he surely BETTER not use those peices of junk to model after. My brother and his freinds BUILT their own cars, and NOT A ONE woulda called those peices of junk a hotrod. Too bad it's gotta be the younger generation that enbraces these junks as REAL BONIFIED hot rods, caz I'll tell ya this, NO ONE MY AGE thinks much of them, and ONLY the kids find these excuses for transportation cool. IF the even run! Ok I'm USED ta bein attacked on here(which IS a shame), so just let it fly, I ain't goin nowhere., :) -
BMF, I don't want to do this.

GOTTA agree with Rob. Once you SEE how NICE it looks, and what LITTLE you did to make it that way, You'll just say DANG,. That DOES look good, a VIOLA!! Off you'll go! AND your builds WILL be the BETTER for it! Like the Nike ads say, "Just do it!" (oh, and keep those blades SHARP!!!!) -

Pat, Not only Mark, but quite a few others wouldn't mind haveing ANY of those modeles. Jerry mustave bought about twent five or so and only left with about ten of them. Mostly full on customs. But the ones built stock to semi stock were GONE!!! They were ALL at least 40 years old!!!! -
Jeeeze that's beautiful! The color is PERFECT. My favorite of ALL the Cobra's. You did a GREAT job!

Ha! that's EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! -
You can help by just joinin in the conversations. By the looks of your builds, your pretty good, and it looks like you'd have alot to offer! That little Falcon IS nice. Really smooth paint and engine detail. Very nice job there, Jim. I hope to see alot more of your builds in the future, new or old!

That's how some of the COOLest cars come about,Don by accident!!! ;)

I think all 71's by MPC came as Zingers. All the ones I have/had are Zingers for 71. I 72 MPC's new trick was the PRE-painted(so called) bodies. My 72 Charger is in a weird yellow, and i gotta 72 Cougar that's ALSO MOLDED in color(NOT pre painted) But i GUESS that was the thing back then.

1969 Cobra Formal Top Motor City Resin
george 53 replied to drodg's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Dave, Jeff is an ABOVE AVERAGE resin caster. I will put HIS castings up against ANYBODY'S stuff, INCLUDEING Modelhaus. He is VERY consistant in his castings, and I've YET to recieve ANY bodies from him that weren't PERFECT!!! Jeff has helped ALOT of guys out with resin casting. He and Kevin Lutz, of Missing Link Resins are both members of our Model car club, DMCC, as are Kris Morgan, ANOTHER GREAT resin caster, AND the Very Dear, Late Larry Alexander, was a Honorary member of our club. These guys are just GREAT people and BETTER freinds. I'll ALWAYS give these guys the credit they deserve, their WORTH it! -
I think he won........

Well then, the folks who sponsored the event SHOULD have had enough sense to KNOW that water is ineffective on GAS fires. The water FLOATS ON TOP of the gas, and doesn't go out till it runs out of itself! Yeeesh, THAT'S the kinda stuff you learn in FIRST YEAR auto shop.! These fools were just ASKING for trouble! buncha clowns, to bad for the Vette, it WAS a nice lookin car! -
MCM December Issue #155 Arrived Today
george 53 replied to Crazy Ed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got what was left of mine Yesterday. The last 4 pages were torn in half, so my issue ended around page 56! I called the nice lady at Golden Bell, explained my situation, and she gladly offered to send me a new one. So, I'm happy, but I'm just wondering if THIS NEW issue will be mutilated too? That is my only complaint. I don't even CARE if it comes late, as LONG as i get what I PAID for, but this constantly torn issues, little tears. rips and WHOLE pages torn off is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. GB has ALREADY replaced at least 3 issues since this time last year. THAT is what keeps printing costs up there, the fact that they have to REPLACE damaged issues. The Post Office couldn't care less,I GUESS they got more important things to worry about than customers getting their mail UNDAMAGED!!!!!! -

Harry WHY does that sound like something they WOULD do???? -
Siim, I NEVER cease to be suprised at how WELL you Euro guys can build up OUR cars! For not haveing grown up around them, you can sure build 'em like you did! American Cars are just naturals to hot rod, I don't see many European cars ever being souped up and customized. I give you ALOT of credit for being able to buld such nice models!! I hope you do well on the NNL curcuit.

Carl, for a minute there, I thought it was for real! Hot Rod or Car Craft just got a 71 Duster in the same condition, only REAL, with a slant six!!! I thought you might have gotten a monster deal like THAT! It's a GREAT story line, an I hope ,Like the magazines, you'll keep up posted on your progress. This'll be cool!
-
OOOOO Krish, can you imagine what a REAL Camaro like THAT would be worth??? You did a GREAT job on it. That's what I like about model cars, you CAN own your dream cars, even IF you CAN'T drive 'em!!! GREAT BUILD!!!!

Thank You Wayne, THAT was informative! I ALWAYS thought those were the muffling system. WHO woulda EVER put fuel tanks COMPLETELY exposed on a Combat Vehicle!!! THAT'S just ONE reason there is NO LONGER a Soviet Union. Yeeesh! -
