  1. I don't have this particular kit because I read and saw reviews on it which were rather negative. After seeing your pics I'm glad I didn't buy it! What a ridiculous place for a seam line. The roof in the area of the windsail(C-pillar) is gently curved to resolve itself into the quarterpanel AND the upper shoulder line. And the EDGE over the doors are gently rounded into the raingutter seam. Whoever did the research on or for this kit was a few sheets into the wind! The old MPC kits, and the newer 70 Challenger AMT kits are MUCH better starting points as they are much more accurately depicted. :o
  2. Mike, Missing Link sells a PERFECT RED resin cast tailight assembly for the AMT 68 Roadrunner! He also makes a Dash for it that is LIGHT YEARS nicer than the dash that comes in the kit. It even comes with optional speedo decals! Check him out.
  3. But at least your building WITH him, Arron, and THAT'S what counts. Your there to help him, and guide him when you see him makeing an error. That's what our job is now I think, to help the younger guys so THEY can helpTHE YOUNGER kids! We all have to serve our turn as"The old guy's"I guess, But I sure remembering havein alot of respect for them old farts!
  4. Well hey guys, It's our very own in house artiste's birthday!!! Happy Birthday Jairus! Hope you have a GREAT DAY, an I wish ya MANY,MANY more!!! Have a great one!!!
  5. Don, I'm 57 gonna be 58 in April. I been doin this steady since 1959. Never gave it up except in viet nam, but as soon as I was out, I started again. One thing I have noticed is that we ARE the average age for model builders. The younger guys, Those in their 40's or younger are a TOTALLY different mind of builder. They use ALOT of Photo Etch stuff, Resin details,2 part paints, and the newer stuff at their disposal. I'm still an old school guy. I use PE very spareingly(I preffer to make most of my "EXTRA "stuff from plastic, after all I AM a modeler) I still ues Tamiya an Testors Paints, No House of Color stuff, although It SURE LOOKS nice when done correctly. I guess I learned the OLD way and I still prefer to do things that same way. Oh I still get "Rad" and use braided lines on WITH home made fittings on occasion, but most of my builds are normal street cars that you usedta see on any street back in the 60's early 70's. THAT was THE time for musclecars, before the oil crunch, and embargos. Todays younger guys build what they know, these tuner things and rat cars. I Still enjoy seein a younger guy "Get it" and just build a ride like WE used ta do it. But WE'RE the OLD guys now, and we gotta move over to let the next generation of builders come in. I'm also encouraged, because the QUALITY of what these young guys put out. Have you seen the attention to detail some of these kids go to??? The hobby's in pretty good hands as long as the new guys remember to ask questions, and the older guys continue to aswer them .We'll be Ok, i think. Or at least the HOBBY will!!!
  6. There's also one in AMT'S 66 Riviera Both the stock and Lo Rider versions. It's VERY well done, too!!!
  7. Oh Well, I guess there goes all the new stuff that RC2 was SUPPOSED to do. But that's seems to be the new AMERICAN wave, sell out to ANY country who is willing to pay the price. Even Budwieser is owned by the Germans. Glad I don't drink. Just gonnawait an see what happens with RC2
  8. Shucky makes THE BEST resin Turbo's an Centrifical Superchargers out there. M.A.D. makes the BEST pre wired Dizzy's an Accel SuperCoils,an MSD CD ingnition boxes. 20. Missing Link sells a 61 Falcon coupe. It's beautifully cast and comes with everything but an engine and tires. It's looks JUST like plastic. Check out Missing Links website on FaceBook.
  21. WoW! They're beautiful! they look like jewery! How long did it take you do build them? They look so fragile. The compareson with the dime is outstanding. REALLY gives you the idea!
  22. WOW! VERY nice job with the weathering, there, Rich! Who's 57 is that? I mean is it the old AMT kit, or the NEW Revelle kits or AMT kit? Whatever you used, it came out GREAT!!! VERY NICE build.
  23. Tom, this is STILL a decent kit, plus it's the ONLY 65 we got. IF you notice, the floor is a LITTLE shallow and IF it bothers you (it did me) just scribe around the inside edges with an exacto knife(No#11 blade) remove the old floor and just glue a flat sheet of plastic onto the bottom of the inteior bucket. it'll drop it enough to look better. it really is just a small thing, but hey, I noticed it. Go figger.... :(
  24. Hey, Rich, welcome to the forum!!! You'll find ALOT of us here are older guys. It's fun to hang out with everyone caz our REASON for bein here is the same, MODELS! Don't worry if you don't build like some of the others, that's OK, were only here for the fun, and if you build for fun, your in the right place! Welcome and ENJOY, caz your HOME now!!! ;)
  25. It's Die Cast, Bro, the ONLY way you'll find it. But they CAN be found rather cheaply, I got mine at a weekly flea market for only eight bucks! It's a VERY nice model at that!!!
