Thank you very much everyone. I am stoked that you like this build and appreciate all of your compliments! Makes a guy feel good.

I'm in Dayton. Plenty cruddy here too!

Wow, thank you all very much for your great compliments! It means a lot coming from everyone of you. I do realize now having looked at these pics a thousand times, that I didn't finish the lower rear lights, lower front lights, or foil the trim around the rear vents. (although the pic of the car on the box shows it with glass where the vents are, I left the vents in, so I will trim them out) I will finish all of that stuff! Thanks again, I felt good about this build, but you guys made me feel great about it.

This is really something else! The engine looks real, the paint is beautiful. I've been doing this since well before I was your age and my work still doesn't look as good as this. I'm jealous! Inspiring work.

Very cool and impressive. Like the fuel bowl idea and the hood hinge!

Well done. I've seen this a couple of times but never in White. Suits it very well. Looks especially clean.

Very nice! Never seen one of these. Color is cool and the foil work super. Everything looks top notch!

Dave42 replied to geetee66's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Holy smokes, this is nice. Of course the paint, also like the interior detailing. Looking forward to seeing this finished. -
Cool car and nice work. Nice tip on the paint too.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it! Ken, yes sir, Revell/Model King kit. Thanks again. Dave

Thank you both very much! Alan, I cut the kit headers off of the flange, puts some pieces of rod in it and slipped Aluminum tubing over the rods. Not sure if that was the best way to go, but thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks again for checking out my stuff. Dave

Hey guys, Had a blast with this one. Tried a bit of stuff. Made seat belts out of a Cigar rapper, scratched the headers, fuel block, line /rail around the stacks, after market stacks, flocked, different wheels, plug wires and boots, some PE handles and cranks inside...I think that's a bout it. Im not very good at WIP's but there are build pics on my Fotki page if interested. Hope you like it, thanks for looking! Dave http://public.fotki.com/ssdave/drag-racers/1950-austin-gasser/build-pics/

Very nice truck! Your paint work looks great. -
Wow, so clean it looks sterile. Last pic is something, so many different coors and textures, it looks very real. Very cool.

What makes us/you shelve a build ?
Dave42 replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've never shelved a build. I did stop working on one during a divorce, but I never took it off of the bench. I build one at a time, and as with the few others that do the same have mentioned, I think it's some kind of disorder-ish thing. I have to work on it until it's finished. Unfortunately I think it has resulted in some builds that ended up maybe a little rushed toward the end because inspiration for something else hit. Anyway, cool thread. I am suprised at just how many folks do shelve builds, and how many build multiple kits at a time. -
One day is quick. Cool build.

Looks good. A lot of trim work on this one too!

Great work here! I'd never paint it, even with the funds.....
