Nice, I really like Scooby Doo. I watched this and lots of other really fun cartoons on Saturday mornings when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. Mad Magazine and Peanuts books were a favorite too.

Yes, it is a lot of work. It is not really hard work. Just careful boring detail work. -

Here is the start of the mold for the door mirrors. Dwayne did an amazing job scratch building these. I decided to clay these up like this so that no mold line crosses the mirror face. Some times on tiny parts it is just best to follow the original mold line and part of the part gets formed in what will become the top of the mold. -

Here are a couple of photos of the buck that Mike will pull the clear plastic over to make the vacuum form glass sets to add to the kit. The first one Mike made, the other two I made out of the resin I use. These might still need additional work and remade again depending on Mike's inspection. I added the lettering to the master. I needed some really tiny letters one day for a project. So......I looked at the undersides of the clocks and radios in my house and hit a gold mine. I simply poured a small amount of silicone over the lettering and waited for it to cure. Then I mixed and poured the resin over the mold then I squeegeed off the excess and placed it in my pressure pot. I then take a toilet plunger cup I bought at the dollar store and placed it over the top of the mold so that when I turn the air pressure on it does not blow the resin all over the inside of the pot. I'm actually pretty smart like that. Well.... once you have made a mess a couple of times you do something different and actually get a different outcome. I have been doing this for awhile, I have discovered much! Now, if only I could remember how much the toilet plunger was at the dollar store. DANG IT! -
Incredible Motorcycle Story...

This is a great story for certain. Anybody remember the TV show "THEN CAME BRONSON"? I think that is what it was called. I watched it. A late 60's, early 70's show. -

WOW! The top and underside of the hood looks really nice, Mike. That grille looks good but full of really fine detail. Fine detail like this is scary stuff. Silicone can be pulled from the mold when removing a part from it. If it gets too bad we just might still need photo etch grille detail. I am going to send a set of wheels to Joseph. He agreed to create the best possible masters for this project through his design work and shapeways printing. Don't know the cost but what the hay! He wants $12.00 for a set of tires. I am just going to suck it up and see what I can do. I have some of that Polytek stuff that has been around for awhile. I'm just going to mix some up and see if it cures properly. -

http://smcbofphx.proboards.com/thread/1467/mclaren-m8b-tires https://www.polytek.com/products/pt-flex-60-liquid-rubber https://www.aeromarineproducts.com/ I am working on the prospect of tires for this kit. I asked Joseph to create a master so I might create the tires myself. This is just more work on my part but making nice tires are doable for me. Here are some tires I made from a Accurate Miniatures M8B kit. You will have to imagine that the mold part on the right was clay and the tires were set on the clay stands. This part was boxed in and the silicone on the left was poured over it entirely encapsulating the tires. Once cured the clay was removed, a mold release was sprayed on and then silicone was poured in to create the part on the right. The tires are made from Polytek PT Flex 60 with black dye added. The Polytek material is not cheap either. I only wish they sold smaller containers of it. I just want to mention that getting the tires out of the mold once cured is not much fun, but is doable. When they come out nice the work is worth it! Here is a link to the silicone the mold is made out of, Aeromrine products. It is a 10 to 1 mix and needs to be weighed. -

I can't help but wonder if there is a talented modeler within a reasonable driving distance of this shop.

If I had a good master, I would be interested. There are a lot of great reference photos of it being built. If I could afford something unique this is where I would spend it.

It does look nice. Lots of tiny openings. Sure hope I can pull it off. Still might have to look into a photo etch part if it becomes troublesome. Here are some of the first Ford Police wheels and caps that Don And Carol gave me permission to reproduce for this kit. I am hoping to get the flash around the parts thinner, but this is not bad. I place around three or four pounds of weight on the mold and around 65 PSI of air to crush bubbles that could form in the resin. Proper resin casting takes good equipment, know how, patience and a somewhat controlled room temperature. -

That looks really good, Mike. -
There was a guy in Canada that did some chrome work for me some time back. I bought some kits on Ebay and he did chrome and some chrome colors too. Can't remember his name though. It might come to me later. There is a place called "The Little Motor Kar Company" that a guy across the valley uses. My parts always come back absolutely gorgeous after they are cleaned up and plated.

Thank you, Ronnie. Mike has been working on the body to create a buck for the vacuum form window glass set. Dwayne said we should look into getting tires and Mike agreed. Dwayne told me the police car came with Goodyear Golden Eagle GT+4 225 15 tires. I sent a email to Chief Joseph about creating and providing tires to me in a bulk order but have not heard from him. I guess 200 tires is a lot to think about. Dwayne created a chassis too. This is just going to have to become part of the kit. He had to make a Lindburg chassis longer with a few details changed. While these parts will save the purchaser/builder money buy not spending extra dough to get to a happy ending, it will add expense to the kit price which is still undecided and we really hate pricing something this unique out of a modelers budget. It only makes sense that a less expensive kit will sell more and this is good for everybody. Dwayne has created quite a masterpiece for certain. He started with a 1970 1:24 scale Roadrunner. The detail around the doors is impressive. I am in hopes that removing a cast body from the mold will not become a problem. Mike and I discussed this point. I might just need to make the sides of the mold a bit thinner since I cradle a poured mold in a bent piece of sheet metal to hold the sides tight. It is difficult to guess what happens to a mold under approximately 65 PSI air pressure. -

Yes, I think the goal can be attainable. While Modelhaus limited there work to 1:24 and 1:25 scale cars and trucks there must be many other subjects and scales that are in need of supply. I think a decent size group of people could stay pretty busy. -

You certainly can have one for certain, probably more. What you do is of great importance to the success of this project and other projects. I don't do what I do alone. My goal is to be superior to Modelhaus but I am going to need some backup. Just don't know how to get there. I do still work a 40hr job and I have been stuck doing standby calls for several days so I may have to drive 70 miles to fix stupid plumbing stuff. I do have Rocky Smith helping out but more help is needed. -
Hi John, That is probably just too nutty of an idea. I would have to shell out too much money for the investment. I don't think it would sell very well. LOL

If it got T boned by a big truck or train, it would be one shell of a mess.

That is funny. My wife and I went to the store the other day. She bought a jar of marshmellow cream to make fluffernutter sandwiches at her work. It's a good alternative to the old traditional PBJ sandwich.

On the Arizona State University campus today was something I never knew existed. I have been inside a Wiener mobile once but I have never seen one of these. Thought someone here might consider a scale model to entertain us with. I was kind of in a hurry and too lazy to get out of my work truck to take the photos with my cell phone. Greg Wann

Made a huge mistake!!!
Greg Wann replied to Jeff31293's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Did you shine a light down the drain hole? There might just be a cross piece there and it might be stuck there. You might be able to get it with a tweezer. OR, you might have that pull up/pop up lever down there. It might just be hung up on some ugly glob of hairy goop. I have been doing plumbing for about 40 years. I know gross drain goop very well. Take the drain trap off and probe through that goo with a wire and your spring just might fall out. -

These are really nice. Bare Metal Foil makes a plastic polish, you should give it a try. While their product seems very watery, it works really good.
