Scam 'Bay Listings?
Greg Wann replied to Spex84's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This just happened to me for a book I wanted titled FRICTION. A new book about marketing and brand names. The seller was selling two copies for what others wanted for one. I bought only to read others feedback about getting screwed. I got my money back and purchased from another seller. -

Any Good Resincasters Here?
Greg Wann replied to Snake45's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That is so funny! There are a lot of great resin casters here. I am one such person. I would do it for you. I might have a mold for a 66 hood but don't know if it is AMT or MPC. <a href="http://imgbox.com/j5vRSTCi" target="_blank"><img src="https://3-t.imgbox.com/j5vRSTCi.jpg" alt="image host"/></a> Here are a couple of links to my new IMG account. As usual there does not seem to be any instructions. They think I'm just supposed to know what I am doing. Yes, I am a grumpy Greg! My Cox email accounts have been reformatted and I don't like it much. So...The mold is for a 65, MPC I think. I can make a BB or SB hood. It looks like there are supposed to be pins for the BB hood but I don't have them. I have a mold for the wheels and three spoke spinners too. These were loaned to me by a guy I do some custom work for. Greg -

I am sorry to hear of your mothers illness. My Mom is 92 and bedridden. We will all just to have to be patient for your finished project. I will soon be a patient. My right kidney has a tumor on it. My new plumber/surgeon girl is going to do robotic surgery on it. Hopefully it goes well. I will be off work for four to six weeks from my strenuous plumbing job at ASU but hopefully I will get more casting work done while at home recuperating. -

Nice. -
Looks good so far. If there is anyway you can afford a photo etch set from the Model Car Garage it will really make your build POP! They are tiny yet you will be able to paint the badges with the red paint like the real thing.

Some companies PE sets are adhered to a rubber backing. When I cut mine loose from the sprue, I cut away a bit from the part and used a sanding stick to sand closer to the part. I used a lighted magnifier light to see what I am doing. It is tedious work.

I purchased a set they sell for my 70 Buick GS build. The scripts were designed to accept the red paint that is on the fender badges, etc. They really made it POP!. They are difficult to locate if you drop one too, they can bounce. Working over a rubbery type mat might help. I applied mine with clear acrylic paint one at a time. Once dried I took a sharp pointed Q-tip wetted with alcohol and gently detailed the scripts edges. Hurrying the detail process is not a good idea. Greg

I think I have a mold that would make one from a original AMT kit. I will look and see. -
You might try transparencies from a office supply store. These are used in printers. Then the printed material is set on a overhead projector. Probably somewhat outdated materials. My wife used to teach kids.

I see there are 73 Mustang kits available. I don't really know what was so special about this car in the movie. I have seen the first movie where the daughter is standing by a beat up Mustang that was in the movie and explains the movie. A lot of cars were destroyed.

OK Snake. Most of the molds look to be good but I will still upgrade them to a better silicone. -

1970 Monogram Buik GSX Hood
Greg Wann replied to bugman9317's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The PE set is very nice. The badges will let you apply the red paint in them so they will look like the real car. I painted mine and once the paint dried I took a real fine sanding stick and polished it down. You can do this while still on the sprue. Be sure to round down the front fenders. One easy detail Revell missed. -

Contact Revell. This kit has been done in multiple box arts. If you don't have any luck there, I have several of these kits. PM me your addy and I will send you a hood. If you are going to build the kit you should pick up a photo etch set from the Model Car garage. Pricey but it will make your build pop. You are looking for the stock GS hood, Correct? Greg -

Thank you, Danno. I do appreciate the good words about my abilities. I gathered up my Cosma Ray molds and only a couple don't look good but the silicone I chose is getting brittle and breaks easily when removing parts. Rocky and I are going to give the bubbles a try with the vacuum form process. I am working on a mold that will make a new hoop. This is the part that the big bubble glues to. It is hinged and opens to allow entry into the car. When you look at the body. It has a badge on it. I think it is a George Barris badge. I'm Sure Danno will elaborate on this. I think there is a story where this car was found on a used car lot. George Barris got a hold of it. He did some work on it and tried to claim he created the car. I'm not trying to get anybody all stirred up over this rumor. John Teresi built his with the beak and I really like this style, he did a great job. Hopefully he will give you some inspiration to build one. -

We don't really have a list. We are working on a series of early 60's Dodge trucks. You might find something of interest in the posts below. I am not the most organized person. Rocky and Harold and Mike Schnur and Mike Hanson and Danno are trying to help me. http://smcbofphx.proboards.com/board/45/resin-casting -

WOW, Dwayne! This is a really nice looking project. Lots of great detail in how it fits together. It looks like it will be ready for the mold making process soon too.
