  1. Yes the sightliner had a 48" bbc bbc= bumper to back of cab. bbc has nothing to do with height. The box looks taller than it is wide to the eye but after I put a ruler to it the measurement was the same. 8' was the max legal width then and 13'6" was the standard max height. Pictures can cause optical illusions.
  2. The problem with the T 2000 wasn't it's looks as much as the cab construction. KW was using a new process of putting the cab panels together with essentially a giant hot glue gun (Pete did it on the 387) which resulted in a poor quality cab mounted on what was basically a t 600 chassis. That was why it wasn't well liked by drivers.
  3. Like I say using a ruler the box height is the same as it's width. Being 96" (8') was the norm and the law then I would say the box itself is 8'. Using a typical chassis hieght of 3.5' to 4' gives a total hieght of 11.5' to 12'.
  4. As Homer Simson says DOE!
  5. Many possibilities wit this one.
  6. Looking nice A chrome Lindberg milk tanker would look good behind that beast.
  7. after measuring the box is the same height as width odds are the width is 8'
  8. Ok resin casters how about a qualcomm now.
  9. Freightliner hasn't built a good looking truck in years.
  10. I'd go with 8' on the box overall 11.5' to 12'
  11. Yep 92 series DD AMT General or Bison kits Sourkrauts model trucks has em in resin.
  12. Fiberglass hood Dr called it Royalglass. Steel cab
  13. Here is a pick of the butter fly hood version
  14. Question 1 yes would be ok. Question 2 I've seen many plow trucks with set forward axles back then. Question 3 The AMT DR kit is a 116" bbc the DR set back is a 114" bbc not worth worring about. There are resin hood conversions for the set back version. Yes DR offered a butterfly hood option with steel fenders on the set back and set forward model. Question 4 Plow trucks normally being owned by municipalities usually had lower horsepower engines so a 250 Cummins from Amt's freightliner kit might be better but the 350 Cummins in the DR kit is fine too. Question 5 Steel frames were the norm 95% of the time but aluminum was an option for weight sensitive highway operations like tankers or bulk carriers not real common as durability was an issue. A truck speced for plow duty would have a steel frame most likely heavier than the standard frame i.e. thicker higher psi rating etc even a double frame.
  15. I remember when the gull wing bumper really stood out now with all the Texas bumpers it just seems small. The step and grab handle style on the drivers side of AMT's K100 must be rare I've only ever seen 1 real truck with it. But either way camaro73 nice work I need to pull a K100 off the shelf and get started.
  16. Not always the thing with resin alot of times it's only around once because it's just some guy in the basement producing it. Makes hard for vendors to keep constant stock. Most old AMT kits have cbs and antenas could be a source.
  17. Check Sourkrauts model trucks .com
  18. I was able to locate this pic shows some detail. Unfortunatly this pic was taken after the fire that destroyed some of Malones trucks years ago. All of the surviving Malone pieces are owned by Gary "Tiger" Riese owner of Stagecoach Express in Hastings Mn. He takes them to many regional truck shows. Malone was a pioneer ahead of his time. Gary Riese is trying to carry on Malones show as well as his own as he has several pulling and drag racing trucks.
  19. Yes it is a test truck there are a few running around the other one I know of is silver.Scania did try to sell heavy weights in the northeast back in the late 70s early 80s like volvo did, but neither did well. Volvo got a break by buying WhiteGMC as Mercedes did by buying Freightliner.
  20. Yep even the 4300 IH was better built than a Prostar
  21. Nice. Seems like years ago there was alot of resin for these kits, K model Cummins 12V71 Detroit hoods fenders etc I believe stuff was from Australia maybe Auslowe.
