  1. I have both that Pepsi set, and the Sears pair. Interesting that they were sold as a set, but in taped together separate boxes. Of course, this was the Very first year of production!!! I also have a built K-Mart set. And another unbuilt. I need to dig those out and take some pic's Oh, I painted my Sears set at School in Shop class!!!! Yes with a Brush. They had a light green I though was close!! And Yes, It Is Flat. Not even Semi-glossy!! It was only available through the Christmas/Toys catalog, Not in stores!!!!
  2. First Crew-cab of that era Chevy I have seen!! Bet they were Very Rare!
  3. Good to know. Though, at leas now, those with it can easily Scan it into their computer and print it on decal paper to correct that
  4. I see it used in many Star Trek ship kits for the Warp engines. It was also sold in Sheet form too.
  5. The Kits being sold are Not all tooled up recently. Many of these are 30-50+ Years old, so show the Lack of detail you are describing or looking for. Examples, The 65 Chevy Malibu wagon was Tooled in 64 as a 64, then modified into a 65 the next year. It was offered first as a Dealer Promo (ready assembled) Sold through Car dealers. (Thus all the detail just engraves on the chassis) The 57 Chyrsler 300, was tooled in 1999, and is better detailed, with all those separate chassis parts. The 65 GTO was also tooled as a Promo, then Kit in 64 as the Tempest with GTO option, then modified/Updated to the 65. In the early 70's it was altered into a Dirt-track Racer, and lost most of it's Factory show room parts.. In the 80's it was 'Restored' to Stock, but not completely accurate. It was supposedly worked on again, at least once, or twice, but many still say it is Not as accurate as an original issue. The best thing for you to do is list those kits you are having trouble liking and ask here if it is a Modern CNC/3D scanned master, or an OLD-School Hand drawn one and go from there.
  6. Actually, the Cannonball Run was Before this box. But, Yes, after being an Exclusive in one of these, a kit could, and most often Was, re-issued. Look at the Classic Fords set. 57 T-Bird & Fairlane, and 63 Galaxie. T belileve the Galaxie was the Exclusive, but it was re-issued shortly there after in the Buyer's Choice, Millennium, and Nostalgia series!! The 68 Road Runner was the Exclusive in the Muscle car set (I believe that was the one) ******{Correction GTO is shown as Exclusive}***** and it too was re-issued later in the Millennium series. As far as I remember, only the Countach, and SnapFast 66 GT/GTA were Not re-issued after those sets.
  7. I believe you are trying to combine a Short-box (Plow kit) and Long box (Tow Truck) Compare the wheelbase of both. Mount all the 4x4 suspension and Plow attachments on the Tow Truck chassis for this to work. I do not know of any Short-chassis trucks being used for tow beds/booms. All of them were mounted on long frames. (8 foot bed) I built the Original of that Snap Tow Truck, Captain Hook' in 1980. I hope to get the re-issue and the Snow plow kit too.
  8. For Accurate 1/25 scale Single Diamond Treadplate, you need Plastruct's HO-1/87, or O- 1/48 scale sheet. I know, I have all the sizes they offered, and when comparing them to various kits, found Plastruct's sheets weer Vastly Over Scaled compared to their listing. Their HO scale sheets Match the size, and pattern on Monogram & AMT 1/32 scale trucks As Exactly as if Mono or AMT did the work!! The best thing to do IF Possible, is Look at the product And compare it to a Piece of the Kit you are planing to use it with BEFORE Buying any. I don't have a good picture showing this, but, this is what I went through. I ordered 1/32 & 1/24 scale Tread-Plate through an area Hobby Shop, and was surprised at the extreme size of the diamonds on them. I went back and ordered the Smaller scale sheets, and found what I needed. I just recently received 2 sheets of 1/48 scale Tread-Plate from a Scale Firehouse member due to it being too large for his 1/32 scale MACK Builds. All the sheets I ordered back then were White Styrene. They are now Tan. I do not know of anyone else's product. Or what size their sheets come in
  9. Ertl offered their Great Dane box/refer trailer With those decals Way back when for that movie!! I almost bought one, and wish I had!! MAybe with all the re-issues they are doing, and all the New "Hollywood" licenses they are adding, we will get that kit back in the next year or 2.
  10. I love that carrier with the 57 on i!! Never saw any of those around here
  11. The Wires in the Bird kit use the knock-off/Spinner that was also used in the center of the stock hubcap. It was a separate piece. I can dig them out and show, or even post the instruction page showing those parts. I was only guessing as to whether they were suppose to represent a specific brand rim.
  12. MPC. I don't have one, but have the 4x4 Short box 84 that shares chassis & cab.
  13. Hopefully they will eventually get back to tooling up full detail kits like these listed, but for now they are at least giving us Something new. Even if it is only unassembled Promos of Modern day cars. Better than Not giving us anything and being gone from the market altogether. I do like the 70 Coronet kit. I have a Retro-Deluxe issue. And would buy more if I could!!!! I just wish it still had the Police car parts from the Original Annual issue!! Just stating the info for others who have not seen it/don't have the kit
  14. The Countach Was available separately in the "Cannonball Run" series of kits. I have the Dodge Van Ambulance and built the Chevelle/Malibu nascar. (Though most of the time in the movie it was a Monte Carlo)
  15. Testor's Clear & Dull have always been Called lacquer, but many have said they react more like enamel. I use to use them, but kept having them Peal off. Especially on their 03 red.
  16. Thought I had this info here, The 3 original kits, and the 57 Caddy Brougham Do have 2 set's of rims, Stock Hubcaps (59 caddy Sombraro's in the 57 Brougham due to using that kit's chassis/seats/wheels, etc) And Wire rims. I think the 63 T-Bird set are suppose to be representations of the optional K-H wires T-Birds could come with. The 3 blade knock-off/spinner is also used in the Stock hubcap as the center detail The 55 Nomad was re-issued as a Custom with Gold chrome an Wires added. I have only seen the 59 Cadillac convertible in Custom version like it so do not know if all, most, or any others than those 2 were so offered The 59 Caddy, Impala & T-Bird Original kits had provision for Motorizing, so those 3 have large toneau covers. The T-Bird's being a copy of the "Sports-Roadster" hard fiberglass piece.
  17. Yea. This is the type of work that is best to do SLOWLY!! Like when I added the Malibu wagon roof to my 65 GTO Convertible body. I did have to raise the rear of the rear fenders
  18. I forgot a few of those Good kits, and I even have them. 66 Nova, 66 GT/GTA & 67 Mustang!! The 66 Ford Fairlane GT/GTA has 2 separate Transmissions. a manual for the GT and an Automatic for the GTA. The 67 Comet is based on this kit. One thing. The 70 Coronet Super Bee is an Original MPC Annual with the 68/9 Runner/GTX chassis. It still has the Original issue's Tub interior instead of the type in the AMT 68/69 Plymouth's You Will have to shave/sand/file/trim the interior tub & chassis to get them to fit each other, And you will also have to trim the windows to fit the body & interior as they are also from the Modern tool 68/9 kit
  19. It might help to add some strip or sheet styrene to the Inside of the body to help get it back into line. I would make the strips or sheet long enough to go from the front body section to the rear door piece. One inside each side, and one inside the roof.
  20. There are 2 versions of that 69 Olds, The 442 W-30 And the Hurst. also the 68 Road Runner is the original form of that 69 GTX. The GTX is available in 3 forms. Convertible, Hardtop and Pro-Street hardtop. Their 66 442 is a nice kit, and also available in both Hardtop & convertible issues. The Hardtop being re-issued recently Don't over look the 60 Ford Starliner. The recent re-issue has Both Stock & custom/Street Machine parts in one box this time. Their 71 Duster is also a Modern tool and Muscle car appropriate. I see 70 Camaro in his list not 69!! Completely different car. That one I do not have!!
  21. It is, That is the one I have, it definitely is NOT the Arii/Imex kit!!!!
  22. I do believe the Viper in that set is a 92 aka First year or Proto-type from Just before sales started. Most of these sets were simply leftovers stuffed into a larger box. Some of the sets have a flag on them stated that one of the 3 kits is Exclusive to that set. The SnapFast set is one example. The 66 Fairlane GT/GTA Promo Was only offered as a Kit in that set. I have that one myself! There were several from AMT Hot Trucks, Classic Fords 57 T-Bird & Fairlane 500 + 63 Galaxie Sportsroof, Classic Chevy's 58, 63 & 64 Impala's, another Chev set with 64, & 67 Impals, plus a third I forget.
  23. The Pamphlet I have lists all Plymouth & Dodge engines from 1928 to 1960 as Aluminum Aircleaners are listed as black. It also states colors could be reversed black engine with aluminum/sliver aircleaner Valve covers could also be black on aluminum engines, aluminum/silver on black. Dual/tri-carb aircleaners are listed as Gold.. But this was listed as factory. Not sure how good his research was back then. Use Frame captures, watch the movie to determine Christine's engine color.
  24. Revell Of Germany also boxed them. The Rev kits only came in the Regular color option. I have the T-Bird with a Red body. Let me see if I have any of my Gunze Sangyo collection uploaded to my Photobucket. I have SEVERAL of these kits!!!!! Ok, just uploaded them. Here is the regular Blue body; Here is the lower production "Red" body: The boxes shown are Original issue "Hobbies Unlimited", where I bought the Built one, Closed 25-35 Years ago!!!! I Built it NEW, along with the other 2 kits at the time the 59 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz and Impala convertibles. Sold the Impala about 10 years after building it!! Check the Gunze Folder. It shows ALL kits offered, though not all issues of each. The 55 Nomad & 57 Bel Air are the 2 hardest to find. The 57's interior is Not correct for either Coupe Or convertible. The 57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham uses the 59 Eldorado's chassis & interior only having new side panels!!
  25. Maybe as long as the put the Stock parts back in them. Most of those Old Full functioning kits have been altered to Hot-Rod status and can not be built stock anymore. I would not mind having a few of those again.
