MPC's chassis in their early 70's series was very Generic. It was used under Chevy, Mercury, Plymouth, Dodge, GTO, etc, so does not accurately portray what was under a specific car at the time. The Entire rolling chassis, roll bar assembly, Engine were all identical. Only a few accessories were different between kits. The Petty Plymouth, and Dodges did include head extensions to fit the Hemi Valve cover, and torsion bars fro the front suspension. Even though the Coil springs were still used The Chassis plate was in 2 parts and could be assembled to 3 different lengths, though only 1 kit, the Clear body David Pearson GTO Sportsman car used the Shortest setting. ALL others used the middle setting. Even in th e70's teams took a Factory STOCK car and converted it to race car.

I built one of the older Revell issues. I need to replace the rocker push rods because they keep falling into the block. I have 2 more parts kits I can combine to build another. I too do not like the hand crank on the last issues. That one I built was a complete unstarted I found at a yard sale 6-7 years ago for $5.oo!!!! That 3 foot long box comes in handy for storing the 3 1/32 scale Fire trucks I have been working one!!

I believe Shawn Carpenter did this, but was forced to stop by GM.

Let's see your geegaws!
Edsel-Dan replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Those Road test pieces were returned to the 65 Grand Prix in the Prestige series re-issue. I have one of those "Mail Truck" Rods too. Wish I had all the parts still. My Brother bought it new, & Dad built it. It is even in its box!! -
kc7wzl, and anyone else wanting 1/25 (Yes they are 1/25 Not 1/24!) scale WW2 (Or even older & newer) Military vehicles Look for GPM, Modelik, Fly, Answer Brands. Our European members will find these easier than US members though. They offer Half tracks, 2 1/2's and More All in 1/25 scale!! I have an Opel Blitz that can be built as a stake bed or box van Ambulance Would you like a 1/25 scale copy of Tamiya's Dragon Wagon Tank recovery hauler?? It Is out there. Warning though, These are PAPER Models. But, Don't let that stop you from looking at them. They Ar HIGH Parts count, with Interiors, working suspension in many cases, etc. They just come in Flat booklet form!! Many of the Tanks have Laser cut tracks as optional add ons.

Does this one only offer the white & black side as opposite sides? I though the box said it could be done as Either version. Or was that the previous issue of the Royal ??

Multi-Colour Paint Layering
Edsel-Dan replied to LacrosseBoss's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I remember seeing this, or a similar 2 color "flip-flop" paint in wal-mart a few years ago. Wish I had bought a set or 2. but it was not cheap. $20 or so for 2 spray cans in a box. Color & clear top coat I think. -
Don't forget all the customizing you can do with a School bus. If they tool up a larger, Maximum size version those get modified a Lot as they are retired from service. I have seen pictures of many, and even seen a few that have had part of the bus body removed along with the interior, and a deck put in its place to carry race cars or even customs to shows. And Even these can be converted into Motor-Homes!! I just wish they would do the correct year Chevy/GMC so we could make The Partridge Family bus, or the Ambulance Buses from M*A*S*H!! Or were those Fords??

History of MPC's Dodge D/W Series Trucks
Edsel-Dan replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Both AMT & MPC were the same on their 67-72 Chevy/GMC pickups. They only modified the bodywork to match the full size products. Interior patterns are the same in all years. Though some of them have a center seat and back that is actually a fold down armrest. -
I have 2 of this kit 1 standard issue & 1 W-M Value Decorated,(Won't say Pro-Shop on those Wally's only issues) and untill reading the reports here about the body I did not know it was so bad. Yes the Pre-painted one is white over red!! Oh well. Maybe I can fake a tabletop to assemble it!! I Do like this solid White one I can understand the getting on e single year build streak. Or a single subject idea or many of ONE item I have several 59's in progress myself. Not many 58's, though I do have 10-15 of the Modern tool EDSEL Pacer!! Many projects started with those. Other 58's I have are AMT's Impala, an Original Buick Roadmaster convertible to restore, and one resin Fairlane 500 that was converted from the AMT 57. Opening doors and all

Gothic, you may be happy that the interior was not included in the built kit you have there. ALL 4 GM kits have the Same upholstery pattern, even though the Caddy has a Bench seat and as I recall, the Wildcat has buckets The Dash detail is Decal ONLY!!!! The package shelf was squared off for the Caddy's more square roof versus the 'Cat & Bonny Fastback type. (Impala too I believe) It will take time, but I can try to dig out the Caddy, Wildcat & T-Bird I have and take pictures to show you what they are like. One thing about the T-Bird, it does not have the Vinyl texture on the roof, and that roof is cast with the body where AMT's is a separate piece. The Body's are the best part of the kit, though the BF Goodrich tires are also nice. I am using 2 sets of those tires on a couple Jo-Han 62 MoPar's Only Jo-HAn did the Promo. They did kits too, but With Engines. and they had the steering found on the 68 convertible as well as the 66 Ambulance/Hearse kits so many wish could be re-issued!! Glad I can help. Only way I can enjoy building right now. NO Place to work. Mom took over all of the kitchen table, Oh well. Someday I can build again.

I will be watching this one too. I started one of these conversions with an original issue. Now with the kit back out, I want to do more. One thing for anyone making a Stock Ambulance or hearse. The Step Bumper in the kitwas not offered untill the 60 model year. Too bad that AMT/Round2 did not tool up a Standard bumper for this re-issue since they did see fit to include the decals from Both the First & Second movies.

Bill Elliot Race Rig (More Pics)
Edsel-Dan replied to kilrathy10's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I want to do one with the Aeromax too, but it will be White. Hopefully that is! Alan Kulwicki's Championship rig. The reason the AMT Race trailer is not very accurate is that it Never was a Race hauler. That is their Allied Van Lines Trailmobile van with the Bill Elliot decals and some interior parts added. Notice 2 doors on Each side instead of a single on the right side in most. They also offered it as the Kraco Cart/Indy car hauler. Most of the Semi trailers for the teams by then were 45 footers, while the AMT Moving van is only a 40 footer. The insert only has room on the car deck for One car, when teams carried 2 up there. I have one of those Coors/Elliot trailers and only plan to use the decals on a scratch-built one The 1/32 scale Monogram Transporters are more accurate I have the K-Mart Andretti Indy set and both Texaco Havoline Davey Allison & Hot Wheels Kyle Petty nascar sets. The Davey Allison set has a Lounge in the front of the trailer, while the Andretti set has a mini-machine shop with tools like a Drill press, etc -
New Moebius Ford Pick-ups 1971 Ranger XLT AND 1969 Custom SWB
Edsel-Dan replied to SteveG's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
He means Smoothside (Non-stepside){Wide-side}. Like Chevy/GM's Fleetside Fleetside has become the 'Name' we use for that type bed. Like we say Kleenex for facial tissue(Nose wipes) Or that Dirty 'G' word when they mean Internet Search -
How many Unemployed have one?? I don't get Social Security, SSI, etc. Mom & Sister do, but not much. I get a few dollars a week during Grass cutting season!! Too many places here have closed, No hiring!

For Ordering instead of finding them in a Hobby Shop, I will need a US location., and one I can MAIL (Snail) order from. I do not have any way of electronic payment (Unemplymnet) so must send a Postal Money Order. The One friend whom I traded Christmas & birthday gifts with has stopped doing that, so I can not ask for paybay or similar Gift cards. I Do like that G4 6 wheeler!!

If it was the Hasegawa Caddy, it is a KIT, Not a Promo. Only Jo-Han did the 66 Caddy Coupe De Ville Promo. Hasegawa offered 5 US 66 Cars in kit form. Cadillac Coupe De Ville, Thunderbird hardtop, Buick Wildcat, Pontiac Bonneville and Chevrolet Impala (Actually, from what I have seen, the Chevy is a 65) All are Curbside. The Dash is not accurate. it has a "T" profile with more curvature on the top that the face which is Flat. The detail is a decal!! Interior upholstery is identical in most kits with the only differences being the rear sear area due to roof line. Chassis is also shared between all 5 kits. Hubcaps/rims are shared in most too. The tires are nice BF Goodrich narrows with separate white-wall inserts I have 3 of the kits. Wildcat, De Ville & T-Bird.
-
I too like many of these. But, where will they be available from in the US??
-
This flatbed trailer is scratch-built. That is a Lindberg Chrysler Cordoba climbing onto it!! Here is a Small Rescue Squad. First box was made with 'Plastruct'. New unpainted one is Evergreen!
-
Not sure I want to show any of mine!!. WOW!!!!!! 1/32 scale Mack CF Aerialscope 1/32 scale American LaFrance Pioneer cab Aero-Chief Snorkle (Only the tires/rims & Yellow portion of the front fenders are kit pieces!) Mack CF Heavy Rescue; Very incomplete Emergency-One 135 foot Stratospear Ladder truck; Both Mack builds are based on the Monogram/Revell 1/32 scale Pumper kit The Snorkle & E-One are completely scratch-built save for tires/rims. Lightbars in front of E-One are kit pieces too. Twinsonic is from Monogram Malibu Police car, Aeordyn is from MPC. It was in the Trail Patrol Chevy Stepside, Pursuit Trans Am, and Monaco Police kits. Rotators on the Snorkle are also Scratch-Built

Multi-Colour Paint Layering
Edsel-Dan replied to LacrosseBoss's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
But, Like I said. Last time I looked for it at Michael's they no longer had it. Not sure if H-L has it. Due to no credit card (No Job!!!), I can not order on-line either!!
