You mean the One at the rear of the carrier?? in the Right side pic of My modified build, it is right above the ladder?? That part was Clear in the original issue of the AMT 1A I know in the Polar Lights kit it was one of the White parts. I will have to check a re-issue to see if they moved the part off the clear tree.

Make sure you get an IMEX or ARII boxed kit, Avoid the Lee or Heller kit, those are Cheap Copy's ans lack much of the detail of this one. I have this Arii/IMEX Open Biarrittz, and a Heller kit with both Boot cover & Up top. The Up top looks like Polished Steel and Not the correct fabric/vinyl texture! Looking Good. I will watch this one, to get ideas from!!

Ask at you local Hobby Shop (Not the Chains) if they carry Walther's Model Railroading products. If so, They Can get the tubing. Ask for a Copy of one of the Current Walther's Catalog. I use to get the HO scael one all the time. It includes Plastruct, Evergreen, K&S, and MANY other Scratchbuilding & Detailing parts & supplies. The "Large O, #1, G) Scale" catalog will even include 1/24 scale items.

I used a Round blade X-Acto to fix something in my room and set it down. It was on my Bed!! I put my hand down to reach over to get up, and it came down across the blade!!. My right hand pointer finger First knuckle. Semi-luckily, it came up right between the hand & Thumb but Did slice!!! I wrapped it tight with kleenex and tape, then went back to sleep. (AFTER moving the knife OFF my bed!!! Later the next day, I went to the doctors. $175.oo and 2 stitches!!! OUCH!! I have curt myself while building, restoring, taking one apart for resto MANY times!! I too have dropped parts not to be able to find them. Worst, one of the tires/hubcaps from an AMT 55 Nomad. Watched it roll. Saw where it went, then......................... NOT There!!!, Still not found it!

This is a Polar Lights Ecto-1 kit so those cut outs are for the Ladder, and Chrome pipe/tube that runs up to the carrier just behind/almost under it.

OK, That helps. Sorry, I did not even look to see where you were from. I can understand the Increased cost of kits, thus Parts kits are FEW! Here are the 2 pic's of the one I am Back-dating into the Original movie car. I made mounts just like for the Front Lightbar for the rear one. I can take the bar off and TRY to take a close up pic of them if you want, But Just file scrap styrene to shape.I did drill for 2 pins the fit into the bottom of the light bar for a positive mount. The Box on the carrier with the Red rotator light is Not there in the First movie. I cut it off and filled the opening with sheet styrene. Also Not the large canister on the right side is Pale yellow or Cream Not red,. I used Evergreen 3/32 inch (2.4 mm) tube for the Old style Microwave Antenna The pedestal is made of telescoping sizes of Tube., the box/block that the antenna rods mount to, and is at the top of the shaft.pedestal is filed from scrap or layered strip/sheet I removed the Large Strobe light base from the carrier and remounted it to the front center. A "MARS" Gyro-Light Goes to the left and the Siren to the right. But, You will most likely have to Make those!! I made Both out of Jo-Han Police Fury LAPD version Siren bodies. (The Polar Lights kit has a copy of this siren!!) On the Light, I cut the Vents Off, rounded the cut area to look like a factory edge, inserted a smaller head light bezel, and then added the Lens. The Siren I had to make the Face for. I used different sizes of Evergreen tube to get the correct diameter then drew a copy of the face on paper. I scaled it to fit, then used that to cut the slots in the face. BMF was used to get the Chrome look. I can look for a copy of the drawing of that Siren face. Or more likely find pic's on the net easier! The Original AM Radio antenna is still on the right front fender in the first movie, and there are 2 large Whip antennas. one on the left rear. I made the Ladder on the right rear from a 1/32 scale Monogram Mack CF pumper. I think I used the narrower piece of the ground ladder. I added .02 inch Strip to the side rails, and Carefully drilled for 4 pins to mount it to the side of the car. The Spotlight mounts though the Fender Not the windshield frame. And there should be a Side mirror on the door even with the mirror on the spotlight!! I do not have the silver/aluminum pipe/tubing running up the right side just behind/almost under the ladder mounted, but I used Aluminum Tube & rod for it. The "Flex" hoses Are still flat blue in the first movie, but the mounts/holders are white, not yellow. Just thought of this. Those hoses will need to be lengthened if possible. They need to at least appear to go under the carrier. Also the carrier needs to be lowered slightly. I keep remembering things as I look at the pic's of her!! The center of the 'Jetpod" tail light it the Backup light, so should be White not red. Only the outer secion is red. I thought those were only reflectors, but do see them light up as the hit the brakes. The Tail light bullets are OK, but do not have the Chrome trim striped around them. (Guess they were too small for AMT to worry about!) If I think of anything else, I will let you know. OK last time for now I hope...... I replaces the shaft of the Whip antenna's with Evergreen .035 inch rod for better appearance. Hope this helps.

remember the AMT "Iron Horse" Mustang?
Edsel-Dan replied to 62rebel's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Concept? Are youn talking about the "Mustang2" Concept? That was originally toold by IMC back around 1965. Lindberg re-issued it once or twice in the past 15 years. The body is Convertible, but comes with separate Coupe & Fastback roofs That kit has ALL working features, Steering, Hood/Engine, Doors, Trunk. I have an early 70's IMC re-issue I built new but need to restore, and a Lindberg one I have not started yet. I do not recognize any of these Late 60's AMT versions. I have never seen or had any -
I remember reading in that 'other' mag Many years ago where some one cast his own tires out of a Very Soft resin/rubber, and the models own weight was enough to create the desired effect. I Flattened a Hollow AMT tire, but mounted it to the rim first, then heated it with a match. when hot enough, I pressed it on a flat surface, It flared the sides out correctly too.

The roof equipment is for the Second Movie. Only One piece is Omitted from the kit that should be there. The Yellow round top canister on top the left rear up-right of the carrier is not a part in the kit. I made that out of a parts box fire extinguisher. I also had to extend the up-right to mount it. That part and the taller up-right are in the P-L First movie kit Notice the Signboard. Those are the Biggest mistake in the AMT kit. Those signs are LED's so the ones I made look more accurate. I counted the Lights, and found them to be 7 rows high by ?? across. I used the blank message panels from a Revell "Goodyear" Blimp kit! I have 2 pic's showing all the different ones I made based one ones I saw in the movie. Here are more pic's of the 2 builds. And YES, the Back-dated version is Still "In-Progress"!!!! http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r229/EdselDan/Models/Ghostbusters/ Wide-Whites are from a Monogram 59 Cadillac convertible. There are only 4 legs that mount the carrier to the roof. Not 4 per side!!! It looks like you are doing the First movie version. The ALL Blue Lights one! In the second they add Green, Amber and even Red to the front MX lightbar Yea the Rims on A Should be White not chrome. Only the Baby-Moons are chrome! Another feature many do not see, The windows are Tinted, but there is a Non-tinted stripe running though them too. See the 2 'Wavy' lines engraved on the inside of the window piece?? You can almost see that effect in the pic above. It took several tries to get it. and had to use different methods on each side. One side is Testor's clear black paint, the other id 2 layers of tint film. I cut the one piece window unit into 4 pieces to make it easier to do this. The Polar Lights kit has clear windshield and front door windows, while the rest are blank, not really tinted, almost opaque.

Which version of the Movie car, And which kit are you building?? The AMT kit builds the car from the Second Movie, while the Polar Lights kit the First. The new re-issue of the AMT kit includes the decals for Both versions, but yes does need a lot of modifying if you want to build it as the Original movie version. I Know, I did it with an Original issue Years before Polar Lights Even Opened its doors!!!! I can show pic's of both he Modified/back-dated build, and out-of-box Ecto-1A build if interested. (I made replacement message board signs too)

What you have to realize here, is ALL 3 of those Revell Impala's are Modern Tooling. The 2 62's from AMT are also New/Modern tooling with increased parts count & detail. The AMT 63 & 64 Impals's are OLD Original kits based off the Promo's From 63 & 64 The 64 being released almost every 5 to 10 years Since 64, while we did not see the 63 for almost 25 years since it was a part of the 3 kit Drag team set in about 67-68. The first re-issue was in the early/mid 80's Prestiege series. As said above, Both can be made to look good, The choice is, How do you want to do it. Modern Tooled kit, or can you accept the Classic tooling that is as old as what it represents.

HESS toy trucks
Edsel-Dan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have several HESS trucks. Not easy since there are No stations near me!! -
I believe that J-F resin Country Sedan is based on the "One & Only" Revell 57 'Squire. It would most likely fit the rev 'Ranchero' chassis as that is what it came from! You Could use the AMT Fairlane, but would need to section the chassis to reduce the wheelbase. You will likely have to modify the Rev Custom's chassis to fit too.
-
I do like this. But......... Did you mean to leave off the outer horse collar Chrome?? I can understand if you did being a mild Custom.

I count drops into a mixing cup or empty paint jar. That is what they mean. You can drip them from a brush (use the same, or at least same size) or a pipette I have several Gunze 1/32 American 50's-60's kits and they give mix formulas as % ie; 80% color A + 20% color B. Here total mix by a count of 10.

Would love to see someone tackle this
Edsel-Dan replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would love to do that Ambulance. And the 57 Stretch, and maybe even the 55 Airport Limo. But................... I would want Measured drawings. Especially for the Ambulance! -

69 Chevy CST/10
Edsel-Dan replied to jahmaljasson's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Did you actually start with a Promo? Looks more like an Original Annual. Promo's never had an engine in them. Every annual issue including MPC's last 1972 used the screws through the front of the chassis into the mounts that are part of the radiator wall (I have Too many of these to forget that) My first was the MPC 72 Cheyenne Annual. -
Is that a 59?? Looks like a 60. And is labeled as one too. I know the front clip sure looks like my Jo-Han 60 Suburban kit!!!
-
I have the ProShop & Model-King issues. Only differences are box art & decals. ProShop only had 1966! License plates. M-K kit has a large sheet. I need to dig it out and look at it again!! Knowing they altered the tooling Before the "BluePrinter Promo issue, but Before the BluePrinter Kit issue, I will have to try to get one nof that kit to complare with the Built painted kit I got as a Promo. I Know it to be a kit as it is White underneath the Aqua! Promos were Molded in the color not painted.
-
Looks like you can convert the Revell 'Flat-Pack" new tool Samba into a 21 Window version by filling those rear corner windows. Hasegawa did the Smabi & Combi Cargo version with 1 piece bodies, butt hose kits are Curbside. No engine. And Yes, They do get Expensive!! I think new they started at almost $30.oo and now are double to triple that

anyone tried the airfix; classic cars collection??
Edsel-Dan replied to JAFFA's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built 2 of the Capri from the MPC issue, and have an unbuilt of the Triumph also from MPC. The Capri is Euro Spec and Not US even though it was in an MPC box!! I use to have 2 of the VW Beetle and I believe a 1910 or so Rolls Royce Sure wish they would re-issue those, and let MPC box them here again!! The MPC kits had Chrome!!! Even the Gulf Porsche 917!! (had 2 of that one too) I Do like 1/32. -
Out Of Production Resin & Aftermarket Products
Edsel-Dan replied to Casey's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
A friend in the local car club had 2 different Crossley's. I wish I had been able to get one of those Coupe bodies/kits back then
