OK, So its 3am on the left coast
Edsel-Dan replied to Draggon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Don't know what it is about coffee. Never drank it, don't plan to either!!! To each their own.. Just like in Model building. I like Police/Fire, Stock, Wagons, Convertibles, etc. Not very interested in motorcycles, hot-rods, etc, but I will look at them. Others here don't like Police cars, or Fire engines, or Wagons, etc. We do like the skill, but not necessarily the subject. -
How To Make Opening & Functional Doors, Hoods, and Trunks
Edsel-Dan replied to nwmud's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I did it on a Jo-Han Ambulance. Got to Find it to take pic's though!! I used Auto World hinges on the second doors. (The ones that almost match the 48 Woody pic.) These on the rear doors of my AMT Chevy van Blue Rescue Hinge is 2 piece. Wire and Sheet brass. Wire section is a Squared off 'U' with the two sides bent into "L's" Brass sheet is folded over to wrap around the Center of the wire, and also "L'd" One piece is epoxied/super glued to the door, the other to the body/pillar. I straightened the part mounted to the pillar on the Ambulance due to the narrow width of the B Pillar. It extends into the cabinet/driver divider instead. I started one of those and have cut all 4 doors out too. Styrene hinges & pins kept breaking. Replaced those with metal ones cut from Pie tin aluminum Need to dig her out and take some pic's too!! -
Wish I had a picture of the box. AMT's re-issue of the 60 Chevy Pickup kit. First offered in Michaels's Shows a Longbox Fleetside in 2 tone silver/gray with side trim, but open the box, and find the Modern tool Shortbox Phantom Cameo that has smooth sides and is a Base Custom not the high level Apachie It even shows Correct Fleetside outer box sides while the kit gives the Stepside box with Fleetside "Fenders". Worse, the box was cast as one piece. That one & Revell's 64 are not Correct Fleetsides, and both are very susceptible to warping I had to cut both apart, add floor sections to widen the bed floor and then replace the outer box.

Nice. I like Petty. I want to do that Kyle 7-11 Pontiac, but..... I saw one in an auction house a couple years ago. he had $75.00 on it. I know that quality of that kit. I have the 43 & Hardess 28 from the series. I wish to find Just the decal sheet. I could use it on a Pontiac in one a several of the 2 kit Petty sets I have. My plan was to built one set out of the box, then reverse a second.

I have a few of Alan's kits too. Monogram Rookie of The Year Quincy's Steak House as well as the Racing Reflections custom issue Slight differences in the decals. I have all 3 of the RR kit including the Hooter's. I even have an after market Hooter's decal set. I have Monogram's Plus kit of the Zerex and the Z version 87 T-Bird set. I was surprised to get this AMT kit VERY Cheap off ebay!! Nascar kits are dropping in demand and price. I would like to build all the AK cars. I even have a Rev/Italeri Aeromax I want to build as his transporter. But, I would like to find one molded in White as that blue is some what dark!! I wonder how many championships he would have won had he not died so young!! He sure showed the big teams something!!!

I looked at DPMCC Instructions fotki and no luck. Also, only 2 69 Chevelle's. The last re-issue & a drag version from about 69.

3-D Printing is now affordable
Edsel-Dan replied to Darren B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Talk to those in the 'know' For taking cars, etc from Video games and making models out of them, Paper modelers are your best bet. I am a member of both "PaperModelers.com" & Zealot Forums' Card Modelers They do this regularly, Though they are modifying the 3d image into Flat panels to print a fold-able model out of. They will tell you, making a model out of a 3ds, lwo, or max file will take other software. What file is the Game using for its 3d image?? Likely 3d printing will too, depending on the software the printer reads to print from. Here is where some asked about being able to supply a print file that is ready to go. Sellers of these files will have to Know what printers are available to the General public, What their Primary file format is & others they can accept, etc. At first we will likely see sold files offered in multiple output formats for the different printers unless a Standard File format & output material are formulated Before reaching the general population. Think VHS/Beta Video tape here Or in PC Speak, pdf only or pdo files. Mac software will not run Pepakura, so pdo files can not be opened. And so far there is no Mac equivalent for them to use either. Many paper models are offered by Tamisoft and some designers in PDO format but must be copied to either pdf (Adobe Reader) or even Picture format. ie jpg, gif, tif, png, bmp -
The MPC & AMT Dodge Little Red Express kits Are the same. AMT, MPC & Polar Lights are all owned by Round2. All were previously owned by Ertl. They first bought AMT around 82, then MPC shorlty aftere. Ertl Bought Playing Mantis owner of Johnny Lightning Diecast & Polar Lights kits only about 5-10 years ago, then almost immediately decided to get out of all hobby production. We have seen many MPC kits in AMT boxes as Ertl actually dropped the MPC name for a time only using it on Buyer's Choice & Nostalgia Series kits til Round2 decided to bring it back. The mid-late 70's AMT F-150-350 IS very hard to find, (Read that as EXPENSIVE) Even the Model-King F-350 issue is demanding High dollar when found. Look for an Original Bigfoot-1too. It Is the same kit. I have one. I need to check to see if the Stock suspension is still in the box. If so, it will NOT be built as a Bigfoot!!!! The Stock grill IS in the box, I remember that Hopefully since announcing the 69 GTO Judge Funny Car in Original box art re-issue, that means they will start re-issuing some of the other M-K run kits in similar fashion. Actually, only the Li'l Red version has been re-issued so far There were 4 of this Short box stepside. Li'l Red, Warlock, Firefighter (4x4) & Pumpin' Iron. Thee original Li'l red was molded in red (of course) Warlock was black, Firefighter was orange, (I have a built) & Pumpin' Iron was silver. I bought that one Cheap due to missing tires. It was a bash project with a Monogram 1/32 Mack CF Pumper to make a small attack pumper.Sadly, it may be a dead project. It fell under my feet one day. Been bagged & boxed up in my attic. I don't know if I want to look at it any time soon

1/25 Revell '67 Dodge Coronet- Foose Edition
Edsel-Dan replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I knew what to expect from the kit. I see the box art as no more that Chip's "Overhaulin' " sketch. If the rims in the box are the same as the One-Off's put on the actual car, then....... I what the show as much as I can, which is not often. I Use to watch it all the time on Discovery/TLC It is on Velocity now, and either in competition with something else I, my sister, or mother watch, or on at different times/days, so miss it. Though I do like the show, I do not always care for the finished build. The ONE I do like, "Bessie--Junk In The Trunk" 56 Cadillac Convertible. That was a Restoration, not customization. I am curious though. He removes the Front license plate mount on almost All Overhaulin' episodes. If the owner gets a ticket for that, does He pay it?? NO. I would make him sign a Contract, that is I lived in a 2 tag state, and he removed the front plate mount, He Would pay for ALL such tickets. Otherwise, the tapes would be destroyed never to run, and he would return my car/truck to me in the condition he took it. -
I believe your best bet for delivery to Central Australia will be one of the "Hobby Link" sites. Most likely HLJ-Hobby Link Japan, since they ship From Japan to the US. Not sure if they Stock RoG kits or just Japanese companys, but worth a try Hardest part should be currency exchange rates.
-
Also, remember that the Revell interior is a Convertible interior and would need the mechanism bulges removed. plus, you might need to include the trim for the inside of the C pillar. I have plans to mount the Jo-Han 70 grill/bumpers to a Revell 72 to make the 70 442/W-30 Pace car

In my favorites group. I want the Police version of this kit, but............$$ ain't there! I will definitely watch this one

Am I the first to lose a model?
Edsel-Dan replied to sportandmiah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Make sure the Pre-nup states 'In tact' or Full Collector Value!! She trashes them, she pays!! -
Those MoPar Recall wheels ARE in th e MPC 69 Barracuda though. So Not like you can't get them to put On the Daytona. I have 2 of the 69 Cuda so I have some. How about the Grill on the Taurus Police issue?? Only decals. How are they suppose to show on a Black nose???? The CHP issue should have been a different agency!! I have one of that issue & one of the Robo-cop issue. Both are suppose to be painted black Black decals will NOT show on a Black body!!!!

Hope they add the Stock parts from the El Camino to the 66 Malibu wagon this time since they put the hot-rod parts from it in the Recent 2n1 El Camino!! I have the original's of both. El Camino is Stock Only Wagon needs the hood, tires & hubcaps from El Camino to be stock!!
-
I agree on the van NOT getting the open window option returned, they did not give us the open hood it use to have!!! But look at the side panel of that box. It shows the Rescue, Police & Custom Options With the Open window panels. I Have that box still and a parts lot from a Penski set so I do have the panels to make either a cargo or Passenger van. Also, the Rescue Did include at least One Bench, though mounted sideways on the right side of the interior. I hope the stretcher, bull horn, rope coil etc are included. I have that stretcher in an MPC Snap kit Blazer Emergency Rescue issue. (Same build option as last 1975 Snap Blazer kit) I too hope the Stock wheels/tires are included in the Ranchero. The pic's show Dog-dish caps. My 2 kits have fill wheel cover. They are both Curbside, since the original Styline came that way. (1 of mine Is a Styline, the other the Desert Race "El Ranchero Grande") Curious about the Grill too since they are calling it a 60 this time. It has always been a 61, though my "Grande" kit calls it a 62
-
I know this is a NO, but does the Rescue van mean we are Finally getting the Open Window option Back in that Chevy Van?? I have my Original of that issue and would Love to have those back!! Will we at least be getting the Bench seats back for a Passenger option?? What about the open Road version they had??? On the 65 Galaxie, are they returning the separate clear red tail light lenses to this kit?? I have a Convertible and need a pair of those
-
Sadly, The 72 seams to have disappeared again. All the Recent re-issues (Even the Rides Mag version) have become High dollar kits on that evil bay place!!! Mine is the Revell 65 stretched to fit. The gap over the cab is because I have not added the separate cab roof piece yet. I need to have a good Sunny day (BE Awake too) and take some more pic's showing the stretched Revell frame It looks better because the 65's roof is not as tall as the 55!! Entire Body is lower, not just the roof. The Motor Home Can be mounted to the 55, just stretch the frame correctly then shim the body to fit up and over the roof Oh, The rubber bands are because I have not glued the walls of the Motor home body together yet
-
I think 2 versions were offered of the "Boyd's Hauler" Full glue & Curbside. The Curbside may even have been a Slammer with black-out windows and NO interior. I did not buy any then as I was not interested in the non-stock only build I believe they did the same on the Chezoom "57 Chevy" kit too

Edsel-Dan replied to 1972 Satellite's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here is my Original 74 Road Runner. YES the Police parts are Original to the kit!!!! Note the separate grill sections. I do not recall them in the W-M Checkerboard box issue of the kit I have!! I believe the grill is now one piece
