  1. The Die Cast is is completely different than the plastic kits. The GMC Jimmy & Chevy Blazer kits share ALL parts save the grill & Headlights. I have 2 of the M-K issues, and a Crew Chief, one of the Bushwacker, along with parts of the Thunderbolt 1 and others. Look at the chrome tree. The GMC Jimmy badges are Still there, as the 4 GMC headlights are still on the clear tree!! My first of this Pickup was the MPC Annual. Cheyenne. It also had the Tow Truck option. The Racer's Wedge 71 din Not include 2 chassis plates, only 1 with a separate axle to be glue over the spare tire, and the chassis narrowed in that area. I have one of those too. In fact, I have almost one of all of these kits!! AMT started using the Pin in a lowering block on their 69 Annual, while MPC used the Wire rod axle through ALL issues. I thought the Blue Rolling Thunder was the last issue of the Longbox stepside. I have both the 74 issue & Heavy Pedal versions. AMT's versions had Dual exhaust on the chassis, while MPC's had Single with a correct cross-over manifold. AMT's had a flatter single snorkle aircleaner beginning at least in the 69, whil MPC retained the more domed one without snorkle Though Heavy Pedal shows the same Tube grill as Rolling Thunder, it has a more stock grill though deep set in the frame, not flush. The Stock front bumper shown in the box art is not there, the heavy-duty one in Rolling Thunder is. Just checked DPMCC instructions. They do not have all of the MPC kits posted 72 only has the front page of the instructions, no box. the 71 only has one page of instructions showing the standard pickup bed, The decals, and 2 shots of the box I was wondering about those recent re-issue 72's. The Chevy grill is not accurate. Why are they so hard to find though? I see 5 different boxes since the 95 Yellow/White box art issue.
  2. AMT & MPC Both offered 67-72 Chevy Longbox Fleetside kits. Beginning in 69 it is easy to tell them apart, AMT's kit now had the Pins & separate lowering blocks. MPC's kit used the wire rod axle through ALL issuses I have several I can show this. AMT offered the Longbox Sierra Grande's from about 70 up Then sometime in the late 70's or early 80's came out with the Shortbox Stepside. Again I have a few in Both box art. During this time MPC offered a Longbox step side in 3 versions. 1974 issue is called Stepside, molded white, boxart has a Gold built. This issue included the Yamaha Trail bike. Second version of this kit is the "Heavy Pedal" This one was molded in black to match the box art. (I have 2 of this kit unbuilt) Last version is the "Rollin' Thunder". Kit was molded blue, again to match the box art. This time they added a "Sleeper Box" and custom tube grill in the stock grill frame Both this one & Heavy Pedal have a Heavy Duty front bumper. The Heavy Pedal issue still had a Stock 71/72 grill, but it was deep set in the frame, instead of flush.. Almost at the same time, we had the one time issue of "Cooter's" Hazzard Garage tow truck. The Heavy Pedal box has a 1982 copy write date. Cooter's was in that time line too. I do not know the date of issue for Rolling Thunder. I don't have that kit. There is No date on the Original issue Shortbox Stepside GMC, the second issue is dated 1990. It has a wire rod axle for the front like MPC's Chevy's always have, though with 2 position lowering blocks, but it has the single snorkle flatter aircleaner like other AMT versions since at least the 69. MPC's was always the domed unit with no intake snorkle (MPC never had lowereing blocks) The First most recent re-issue of the 72 Longbox Fleetside is dated 95!! The is the Yellow & white box art. Since this issue, they have the Pins for front axles. Also the grill is Not correct. It is too stubby Cut the grill & bumper apart as in the original MPC kit and there is a large gap between them if the grill is mounted at the top of the opening and the bumper in its correct location. There have been 4 total re-issues of this kit since 95, but it still is Hard to find & expensive. Other differences between the kits, AMT mostly had Dual exhaust, MPC single with the correct cross-over Manifold. I am now not sure the Last Fleetside re-issues started with the GMC Shortbox Stepside, but can not believe the Hazzard issue would have made the alterations to the tooling so glaring. Did you know Both offered the Tow Truck options from 67?? However, Only MPC altered the tow bed parts for the Fire Truck, and only MPC offered the Open Road Mini-Motor Home & Racer's Wedge versions.
  3. I have the DW version. Bought it new. As I understand it, Modelhaus actually used this die-cast as the starting point for his 4dr resin kit Not sure if he has done a 2dr.
  4. I think you mean they use the 1"-1' 1 Inch to 1 foot scale. Most Doll house accessories are 1 inch scale. They need to use the 1/2 Inch scale stuff. Or tell them to go with G Scale/gauge Model Rail roding parts. They are actually 1/22.5, but closer than the 1/12!!
  5. I have 2 of those Craftsman kits. An Original 62 Styline issue built I got recently, and an "El Ranchero Grande" Issue I have had since New.Still have that box too! My Styline kit has that center grill section. I need to get pictures of them. I might have one of the last issue left.. Will not use the engine or wheels/tires in it.
  6. I built that Pace car back then. Only version of that gen. Camaro I have so far.
  7. I am not 100% positive, but I believe the AMT 72 Shortbox GMC Stepside was modified/butchered into the Longbos Fleetside we have seen the past 15+ years. It is not the MPC Tow truck last seen as "Cooter's". As for a 99+ Crown-Vic. Testor's did offer the Classic Metal Works Police car in Kit form. Yes It IS a Die Cast!!. I have 2 different Kits. Silver Series issue with 3 options, Denver, Chicago, & NYPD 3 different lightbars & decals, & painted white And CHP. This one was a Gold Series, and painted black & White.
  8. Check with the hobby shop, but also check Evergreen's website. They also offer their .01-.08 inch thick in Larger sizes. 11x14 & 12x24 Inch!! Not cheap. if you have to buy more than you want/need, but, Great if you need LARGE areas with No joints. Want Paper like sheets, try their .005. That is THIN & VERY Flexible!! I use it for trim or shimming!!
  9. That depends mostly one the type of Semi you like best. The New Mobius International Prostar, would be the best for Accuracy. Not many of the Older semi's were converted like that. Unless they have been recently. Most are Custom built on New chassis. Sheet styrene is going to be the shell/body of the Home section. If you wanted Less Sctratchbuilding, you could start with Revell-Of-Germany's Neoplan City Liner Bus. They Are used as platforms too. More so actually. Here you would only have to alter as many of the windows as you wish by painting, and confine most of the scratchbuilding work to the Inside. Having an MPC/Model-King AMT issue of the Open Road Mini-Motor home kit will help with some interior parts. But you can also fine 1/2 inch scale Doll house furniture for this.
  10. Their 1/32 scale 30's & 40's kits were nice. It was their slightly larger 60's & 70's cars that were terrible. I have that Ford too. It Is a Multi-piece body, and that issue likely does not have Chrome parts. Tires are 2 piece styrene with the rims molded in place. Axles are plastic, but any AMT/MPC/Revell metal one can be used. they are the same 1/16 inch diameter Many of these were re-issued under Pyro, Life-Like (The HO Rail Road people) and Lindberg brand names.
  11. "Beard Of Paradise" was my First 65 Lincoln kit. I have another unbuilt in the stash How about the Boarder Patrol issue of AMT's 53 F-1 Pickup, & Tijuana Police issue of their 49 Ford?? I still have the built 49. Molded in yellow. I have 3 of the Desert Race series. "Boondock Bomber" 59 Buick hardtop, 'Tourista Turismo' 62 Galaxie hardtop "El Ranchero Grande" 62 Falcon Ranchero Still have the Ranchero box too.
  12. It was NOT A New tool at the time,. This was the RE-Issue!! 3-5 Years later! They in fact had 2 issues out Before. The Stock & the Street Machine you show in the W-M Checker Board box.
  13. How about getting them to retool the 33 Chevy Panel Delivery body??
  14. It reads "Retouched Photo Of Actual Model": Not of A model, so It Should have been the Longbox! And the trim Is correct for the 60 & 61 Apache, I have a couple and can show that
  15. I am curious as to how long before we see one of the polar Lights Batmobile kits built as This??! I have one I started several years ago. Got to find it. I assembled the body around the interior, then cut the chassis section of the bottom plate out.
  16. Yes, that Is the one. I wanted that Longbox Fleetside!!! Original AMT/SMP 1960 Annual!! Notice it says Retouched photo of ACTUAL Model!!!! No Way Period on that one!!!!! I have a couple Gluebombs to try my hand at restoring now!!
  17. If they put it on their Home page I can reply, otherwise...... Sorry, not on that.
  18. I got some Cheap 1 inch diameter 11 inch tall Clear tube for storage. They were at Wally's in the Christmas clearance, and filled with Gumballs!!! I paid 49, Cents each for 6. Oh, They were Candy Canes!! Went back for more, but they were gone.
  19. I have one of those. Might even have a second from a built lot I got.
  20. Didn't Richard Petty/Petty Enterprises use one?? Or was it a standard cab??
  21. I would not really look at the real one, but it Was a Pace car for the Indy 500, so I Do want a kit to build as such!!
  22. 4 different Toppers/Bed caps have been included in 1/24-25 scale kits The AMT SnapFast Chevy 2500 Extended/Club cab Green box art build/molded in green (Not the red/maroon dually) This is one piece with a separate clear hatch. Gear Hustler, and addition issues of AMT's 65 El Camino include one. It is 5 pieces, top, 2 sides, front, & rear, plus 2 side & 1 rear window. AMT's 70's F-150-350 Pickups also included a full size cap in Certain issues. Revell included one in their J-10 Honcho Jeep pickup, but ONLY in the Red box art issue I do not know is the last issue (Highway Wars??) had it, Also, Since the last 2 issues of the AMT 65 El Camino have the Larger Camper body, I do not know if they include the topper/cap. Scratchbuilding one should not be too hard due to the size & shape. For a sharper corner with smaller radius than Tom's above, you can glue the sides & top together square, add Square or rectangle strip stock behind it (It will help strengthen the joint too) And then when set, file the corner edge to the radius you want. Use .03 or .04 Evergreen/Styrene with similar strip behind it. Even on Square corners, I add the strip for stronger joints/additional glue surface area. Not a Cap/topper, but this is what I mean on filing the radius. The round-over on this cab is filed and sanded smooth
  23. The Polar Lights Herbie kit did show Steering on the box art, but that was their 1/18 Diecast. The Kit did not come with steerable front. It Can be done. I did that on mine. The Original Revell issue of Herbie had an Open Canvas top. I still have mine. Need parts to restore him though!
