Second group; This is my FIRST EDSEL kit. Joe "Wheat's Nostalgia" resin copy of AMT's Original 58 Annual He did not have a chassis, so it is on an AMT 57 Fairlane chassis. (Not steering) Does have the engine, but did not open this hood. Last 58 EDSEL (Not Last EDSEL!!) Yes a STRETCH!!! Uses 3 roof sections (front & rear bodies +convertible's leftover), but may use 2 more. I can't keep the 2 joint areas from sinking badly 59 Villager Wagon. This one started with an extra 59 EDSEL hardtop & Ford Wagon Resin bodies. Doing another in Styrene, but not getting as good a joint/bonding!! Original AMT 59 Convertible Got this as a built. Only missing the instruction sheet!!! Got the Box, custom parts, decals all stock parts, etc!!!

Primered projects?? Gonna be here a while !!! AMT 74 Mustang2 was painted green. Paint etched the body. JR Toys Resin 58 EDSEL Bermuda I am building as a Villager This is on a Modern tool 58 Pacer chassis and I cut the hood open. Was using an AMT 57 Ford, so had already mounted the ford's Engine bay. Another 58 EDSEL Project B pilar is scratchbuilt from strip styrene 2 More 58 EDSELS Hardtop is box stock build, convertible is cut open and will have the Skirts & Continental kit from the Deluxe issue

I like this one too. I have The Buyer's Choice-1 issue to get back to and managed to get a good condition started Convertible to go with it. Even got a second convertible box with parts including the boot not in the started builder!! I have a couple Primered builds with the foil on them. I will NOT Sand the paint off but polish it with Turtle wax. Less likely to cut through the foil, paint & plastic that way! My Turtle was is an OLD bottle! Had an AMES sticker!

The MPC Display Case trailer came with a small movable Compressor (handle & wheels) a few tools, Oil cans, a drum, gas cans, etc. (And the Cabinet for the front) Hope they re-issue that again soon, though I already have 2 of them! The Chrysler Imperial Roadster in the Gangbuster's series also had a Safe, and two briefcase/Suitcases. One with Cash in it, the other with a clear insert of Jewels. Ma Barker's Tour had some of those too. I don't know if the 2 different Lincoln's had different or same Gangster parts. The Camper is from AMT but they did the 65 no 66 El Camino. It actually was in an Early or Original issue of the 59 El Camino The Trophy cars are in MANY AMT kits., though the 57 Chevy only came in the Older issues of the 57 Chevy and the same for the 57 Ford. The Stylized Fastback & 32 Fords were in Several kits. The Chrome Trophy tree in the Avanti was first offered in AMT's "Customizing Series" kits. 66 Wildcat, 50 Ford Convert, 66 T-Bird, 49 Merc. It always had the Vette, stantions, & Easel/dislpay sign. I have several of that chrome tree The 50 Ford Convert had the 4 Cinder blocks, both the 49 Merc & 58 Impala kits had the chrome crankshaft & pistons I have the Touch Tone Terror Phone Booth. The rack is in the built pickup. just not painted. Booth is with my Resin 58 EDSEL Villager. As for AMT's 61 & 62 Buick Special Wagons kits, The only real difference in the 2 are the grill update, & boxart. Interior, accessories, etc are identical. I have versions of both. Gunze Sangyo added Figures & accessories to their 50's-60's American classics. I have the 59 Impala & Cadillac Deluxe kits. The each have 4 figures, and the same CHROME extra's including a Pay-phone. If I can be awake during Daylight hours I will dig out ALL the accessories I have and take pic's I will also get the Gunze kits out. -
Now it's diesels with those BIG pipes.
Edsel-Dan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
How did Audi, etc race LeMans with Diesels and NOT Smoke at all???? Oh, And BE so Silent even on the In-Car Cameras??? -
Microwaves work more on Liquid content than solid, so would not heat the part enough to even notice let alone allow you to remove a warp.

Police Car Question
Edsel-Dan replied to Hollywood Jim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually, Many departments still used 2dr cruisers till the 70's. I have pic's o0f Georgia Javelin's, & Nebraska Chevy's. Kansas had a 66/67 Belvedere 2dr Also, CHP has used Camaro's & Mustangs since 79. I have 4 Good bboks full of pictures; Monty McCord's "Police Cars-A Photographic History" & "Cars of the State Police & Highway Patrol" Dodge, Plymouth, & Chrysler Police cars 1979-1994, and "Police Cars-A Graphic History" by Bruce Cameron from Law & Order mag.. I want several of this kit. Maryland used them!! -
Remember, the 55 Cameo was modified to also produce a 57 Cameo. The Interior tub was likely so close to identical that they did not re-modify it to 55 marking. I got a pre-painted 41 Woody with several of the engine parts mis-molded. Returned it. Also had one of the MPC Indy Pace car sets with the Camaro body Melted & flattened/crushed on the front corner. also returned that kit.

(again, ones I don't have. ANY original 1961 kits!!! (I am a 61 model myself.) Rob Z, I have an unbuilt of that 65 Wildcat! I just wish it had a Bench seat & rectangular dash gauge set!!! My dad had a black over Silver 65 'Cat with Bench seat, Fold-down Armrest in the center!!! I got the Buick & a 62 Mercury Meteor FREE as a gift for building a 70 T-Bird 4dr for a former Car club friend (Please Don't ask!!)

Flashback 1976 - MPC '76 Monza 2 + 2
Edsel-Dan replied to Erik Smith's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The 'stock' tires have been in MANY MPC & AMT kits since. They were in the modern tool 71 Duster, 86 El CAmino SS I think they were also in the 74 GTX kit (checkerboard box{Wally's issue}) I have several of them. I like th eOLD MPC Goodyear Custom Wide TRack F70-14 'Speedway' better. The wide tire is the OLD MPC Nascar Blue-Streak Race car special. -
'65 Chevy Stepside Pickup 2 'n 1
Edsel-Dan replied to Randy Kern's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Thanks. I just thought the Motor Home body looked more correct on this older Chevy than the 67-72 it originally came with. -
I built the 56 T-Bird Back when new. I have little trouble with it. (But then I could also do Revell's Full featured 55-57 Chevies that many claimed could not be built!) I haev to restore it someday. I have a second of the Diecast body version too. A friend has the plastic kit that is became. I Do not recall this series being called "Metal MASTER though. The Box art does Not state that. It Does state Diecast Metal and plastic, But not Metal Master. Only the Plated plastic kit were called Metal Master on the box. I have one of the Classic's. (I think the Duesnburg Pheaton I need to check) and on of the HO scale Hudson Locomotives that Monogram sold the tooling to Heljan/Con Cor

'65 Chevy Stepside Pickup 2 'n 1
Edsel-Dan replied to Randy Kern's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I have one of the "Cali Wheels" issue. I traded the Chrome steelies for Modifies Dualies . I also stretched the frame. to fit an 8 ft bed. But it is not getting a Pickup bed. It is getting an Open Road Mini-Motor Home body instead. Here is the build so far; Tires are OLD AMT Turnpiker Rubber Firestone Darlington Gum Dipped!! Front Steelies are from the 64 "Cameo" kit, rears are the Chromies from the 65 bashed with Deep set rings to make duallies. (Only the centers are from the Chromies!) Dog-Dishes are from the 64. Now to find the space and get back to the build!!!! -

I use a Magazine file. "Deco" brand. One for strip/rod/tube, one for sheet. Yea, I Don't have near the quantity most here do. For the strip/rod one I have wire dividers and sort them by type, then size. Strip in front, smallest to largest, then rod/tube--same way, then structural shape strips, 'L' angle, 'C' & 'U' channel. 'I' & 'H' Beams Half & quarter round, then HO & O scale dimension.

anyone remember Gordon Shumway?
Edsel-Dan replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Watched Both series!! Wish they were on again. I Think the Original series is available on DVD, but not the Cartoon. -
I got lucky before grafting 2 pickup tops together to make a sedan/Long roof for my rebuilt 72 Annual/Hombre bash Fire Department build and found an incomplete 72 Annual that had a complete Long roof, etc. I would like a couple more for another re-issue kit I have, plus I too would love to have the clip, etc for the earlier versions. I have a 68 Annual that was built Custom. I need the stock grill, etc to put it on the restoration stack. The Convertible Boot & Up top would be nice to have for it too.

Edsel-Dan replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have a Question. Will we get the Clear Backup bullitts for the center of the tail lights? or will they just be copies of AMT's solid clear red piece with the Too Large center bullitt in place of the Optional backup light?? Yea, I know I can grind off the center and replace it with a clear bullit, but, there are Very Few kits with a clear bullit the Correct size/shape!! I know, I have an AMY Fairlane 500 I am converting to Convertible and have added the clear backup light. I do not remember what kit the clear piece came from though. (I build taking 20+ YEARS will do that!!!!) HI, I am Finally able to post again. Lost the Net last Aug due to my Modem dying. Just got it replaced Tuesday. Had to change my email addy for here . Inbox closed my account for "Inactivity" How do I get those emails back?? I hope the Beacon (And any other emergency light lenses/domes) are Clear too! I would love that VSP combination Light/siren in the kit. Not sure if MY MSD (MARYLAND) used Fords then, but can find out. I HAVE to get a couple of this one myself!!!! My email for here is at Mail.com now. -
