  1. Probably, but how would you know?
  2. The custom car world is all about building your vision. This guy certainly built his but, what controlled substance brought about that vision? A common question asked of critics of such cars is "How would you have done it?" I don't know how I would have restyled a 64 Riviera but I do know that THAT isn't it! No way, no how would that set of modifications have come to my mind; I've never done those particular mind-altering substances.
  3. JoHan original issue Maverick is the only one that comes readily to my mind. Ken Kitchen does a really nice resin one.
  4. Norm runs Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland, one of the best! Of course, you'll have to deal with him by means other than a web site, so that may be a problem for you.
  5. Because Don, himself chooses NOT to devote time and energy in a photographic website. I heard him say several years ago that he has more than enough to keep him busy. If it works for him, that's good enough. Do you rag on Norm Veber, too? He doesn't even have a website.
  6. Maybe JoHan will do it?
  7. I would love to buy that place, unfortunately, MY winning numbers did not match THEIR winning numbers.
  8. And did you see the video coverage of his last rally? Slippery road and .... upside down in a ditch! Ah, well! It happens to the best! He and his co-driver walked away, literally!
  9. Alrighty then! This is the perfect place to relate an "abusing the system" story. This was related to me by the person who, at the time, was responsible for fielding the missing parts calls. Way back when Revell first did the 1959 Cadillac kit my friend got a request for parts that were missing from the "newly issued" kit in question. The missing parts were, as I recall, the tail lights, the tail light bezels (chrome), the wheels (chrome), the tires, the whitewall inserts and a few engine parts; basically parts missing from several different trees. This kinda raised my friend's "suspicious flag" (along with another thing that I'll relate in a bit). The requester had, generously, provided his phone number so my friend called him on the phone. "Hi, this is so-and-so from Revell-Monogram. I'm calling in reference to your request for missing parts. We have a few questions." "First off, we'd like to know where you purchased the kit." "Uh ... at the hobby shop." "Really? What's the name of that shop, sir?" "Uh ... I don't know; it's the one across town." "I see. Well, the reason I ask is that the the entire production run of the 1959 Cadillac kit is currently sitting on our loading dock preparing to be shipped." "Uh ... <do something physically impossible> to yourself." See, the kit had not left Revell nevermind gotten to any hobby shop. Seems to me that it wasn't too awfully long later that they quit sending out free "replacement parts." Every time a "replacement parts" thread comes around, I remember this story.
  10. On gravel. in the snow, over short hoppy hills, around switchbacks, with big trees instead of guardrails and on and on.
  11. But, there ARE evolutionary dead ends.
  12. And look cool doing it!
  13. Harry, if they didn't read THAT paragraph, they certainly didn't read the next one wherein is revealed that it was used as a promotional prop: "It soon caught the eye of an All Star Dairy representative, who rented it from Robinson for a couple of years to use at promotional events for the company’s line of Batman ice cream and drink products." Thus, the Batman connection.
  14. So, Greg, are you calling that 'pretty' or 'ugly'? Personally, I think the F-4 Phantom is one of the most testosterone laden, muscular and best looking fighters ever to cruise the skies! Of course, I could be biased; my dad (along with several thousand other guys) built them!
  15. Yes, R&R made one. With Ray's passing, does anyone know what the status of R&R is?
  16. Fortunately, from my point of view, the Olympics is not an "everyone's a winner" event
  17. But, Harry, it IS one particular kit. It's the kit you started yesterday. It's the kit you're working on. Knowing that you gravitate toward large scale models, it's probably not an inexpensive model, therefore you kinda have a duty to inform the the world (ie. us) so we know, going in, what to expect. By leaving it intentionally vague, it's like saying "Everything you're going to encounter is going to be BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and you shouldn't take it any more." And you're right, but it would help us to know; is this a new "state-of-the-art" whiz-bang $700 Pocher kit, an older Pocher kit or (heaven forbid) an ITC 1/10 (?) scale Duesenberg. Is it something that one would expect meticulous attention to accuracy or is it a kit that WAS originally marketed as a toy? Or is it, as I suspect, something in between?
  18. But the thread heats up, and I think that's was the whole point; DRAMA! Need More Drama!
  19. OK, Harry, (boy, am I gonna get in trouble here) are you going to tell us what the kit is or is this just drama for drama's sake? Is it a kit that almost everyone knows is a mess or is it something we expect great things from? Why so vague?
  20. Lessee ... totally new body, glass and interior components. Retooling of some chassis components and some engine components. I think it'd be best to start from scratch.
  21. Hit it again, I think it twitched!
  22. Scored a 95%. The GTSs threw me. I'm not hugely into Mopar; not that I hate them, I just don't know them that well.
  23. But ... but ... some of those are CLASSIC! "Unglue this here". And who can forget the "American Violence" series of kits from (I believe) ARII ("Feel the rumble in your bowels")
  24. Manning even put up a few impressive numbers tonight. I believe he set a new record for completions in a Super Bowl? It was just, as a whole, Denver's Offense couldn't get a handle on Seattle's Defense. Pass completions, in and of themselves, don;t count for much when the ball doesn't go anywhere.
