  1. LOL! I don't know, but I know it when I see it! It's like the Friday art thread on the HAMB. Some very artistic pieces done and a bunch that I don't consider to be art.
  2. Interesting, Skip. Now I see where you're coming from. For me, whether it's "art" or not means "would I hang it on the wall?". Good graphic design and intelligent packaging would end up in a landfill. The first one would likely end up there, also; I'm not really into the "Classics" but it has a better chance of being on the wall.
  3. Actually, I checked out your page. Looks promising. Now if I could just figure out how Facebook works ... maybe I'll ask my 11 year-old ...
  4. Wow ... I don't think I could see a 1/16 scale page, I have a hard enough time with the full sized ones. Oh ... wait ... you meant a page for 1/16 scale models? Um ... nevermind!
  5. Their contact information says they're in Rochester Hill, Michigan, for all that might be worth.
  6. That would have been my post and I cut the list off at 2000 because of the point I was making that most of the guys on THAT list were still active, building/working guys (ie their careers were not over). My post was made in response to the post that said "Nobody can be enshrined in a Hall of Fame, whether it's baseball, football, modeling, or anything else, until their "career" is over and that person's body of work or accomplishments can be evaluated in total."
  7. But ... you get free shipping!

  9. Oooh! Perry the Squirrel is one of my Grail Kits!
  10. Just don't go there expecting to talk about "Rat Rods" There is no tolerance for them on the HAMB. Was a day when they would rip you up and hand you your head for the mere mention of "Rat Rod"; now, I think you just get banned for life. A policy I tend to agree with.
  11. Let me get back with you on that. Back: OK, the mind boggler here for me is that the actual living amoeba measures about 0.5 mm. You can actually see these beasties without a microscope! The kit is a mere 460 X the size!
  12. If this isn't the weirdest kit in my stash, it's certainly close to the top of the list. It's the only one I could lay my hands on quickly. It's a Lindberg kit.
  13. Well ... he may not have engineered them but they were his designs (call them "concepts" if you will)
  14. I've never seen it in any other box so I've always assumed it was original to Nichimo. It's not exactly what one would call a masterpiece, is it?
  15. Yes, that's what I >meant< to say but I'm such a dolt with the English language that my meaning was lost. I'll refrain from posting in the future until I've consulted my Chicago Style Manual.
  16. Yeah, but it didn't sell for that. On the positive side, the seller did come down from his original $1549.79 I don't know what this kit is actually worth; if I remember correctly I paid somewhere around $100 for mine but I don't think I could let it go for that.
  17. And ... after you factor out the 'packing material' (NASCAR kits) the price jumps to just over $20 each. The second auction; I agree "But Honey, I TRIED to sell them. Yeah, right! Lousy pictures of about a third of the kits, no description to speak of, more like "Trust me, this is good stuff." Stooopid people.
  18. Gee ... all of our lists tend to revolve around personal favorites, don't they? Here's mine: 1. 1953-54 Plymouth 2. 1991-96 Saturn SC-2 3. 1972 Chevrolet Impala (What I learned to drive in) 4. 1972 Mercury Montego 5. 1955 Ford (any body style, my Dad's was a 4-door and I was 10 so I don't have a clue what it was)
  19. But, welding is NOT decorative, it is NOT style it IS STRUCTURAL! Shoddy welds are shoddy structures and WILL fail (probably at the least convenient moment ie: in front of a car full of kids, going around a tight corner.) Frankly, I don't want to die because of someone's messed up sense of "style"
  20. They weren't, they were used mostly on Altereds.
  21. Why, yes I have but I've not seen the quality of yours. Why would you even go there?
  22. Which is still an order of magnitude too high for a kit in that shape. Frankly, I think he'd be pressed to get that price for a mint kit.
  23. Well ... after sitting here for a (way too long) while,I've come to the conclusion that the 39 Stude and the 39 Chevy are similar but not all that close. In fact, the only really close feature is the roof profile. Everything else is going to require cutting and fabricating. The roof might be a smidge too wide or too long but, since you're already slicing and dicing you might as well shorten/narrow it too. 39 Chevy looks like the best place to start, but it's still going to take a raft of work to pull it off. As for the "it's too big" argument, you'd already be cuttin', just cut some more!
  24. Hey, Casey! I know where you got the Brabham/Matra picture!
  25. Actually, the Mercer Cobra was built in 1:1.
