  2. It's a nice kit ... a curbside so not a lot of parts. Here's one I built up as a mild custom right after the first MK reissue:
  3. Don Mills Models ... best diamond plate bar none! He is apparently moving his website but here's a link to his ebay listing: Was a link to his treadplate but, somehow, ebay morphed it into a needlepoint seller.
  4. Maybe Corky doesn't have people knocking down his door wondering why he doesn't offer gum latex tires. Maybe restorers actually LIKE the white tires. Maybe tires made of modern compounds in the 'correct' color wouldn't look right anyway. Maybe the best bet would be to ask Corky cause I can pretty much bet he's not reading this thread.
  5. OK ... I'm a little confused. I keep reading that Alclad rubs off when handled. Now, I use Alclad primarily for small parts that I'd like to be chromed or wheels and bumpers so ... how many of us are actually picking our models up by the bumpers or wheels?
  6. Really nice! It could park in my garage! I really like the service ribbon; we don't thank our Viet Nam vets nearly enough.
  7. Oooo ... sounds like a challenge!
  8. So, Mark, are you gonna use 90-weight in that or something else? Seriously awesome work, my friend! Maybe one day I'll actually build another Seven, though it'll probably be box stock
  9. Avoid it?! Why would I do that? It's where I can just about count on getting my "Daily Dose of Drama" !
  10. Not like THAT would happen!
  11. He's got some interesting ideas, no better or worse than some commercially available 'tuner kits'. His execution ... um ... applies a vacuum. Some styling revisions and refinements, a little more care in the execution department, an actual COLOR and it might, just MIGHT be presentable. If not, 'Bigfoot' is sorta local to me, maybe we could arrange some sort of a 'restyling'.
  12. Here's what comes in the box for your $50. The originals of the three books that are circled recently sold for just shy of $300 for the three. I'd say they're well worth the money, especially if you're into old customs (and I am).
  13. Oh, so true! I checked on the sold prices of the kit in question; it's all over the board, from down around $10 to up around $80. Most examples are somewhere in the $20-$30 range. Not sure that I'd pay that but then I'm not a huge fan of Hubley metal kits.
  14. No doubt! Yeah, I ordered mine back in November but I didn't really expect a sub-100 number. I figured all the die-hards on the HAMB would have gotten in much sooner than me.
  15. I got mine just the other day. It's taken priority over my study of the Crusades (personal interest, not a class). COOL stuff!! What number did you get, I got #99.
  16. Since the auction for this replica was in December 2011, does anyone know if it actually sold for this amount?
  17. Actually, 'backlight' is exactly what the rear glass is called.
  18. No indignation, mock nor otherwise, just the observation that I've read that posturing before and it was 'smoke blowing' there too. BTW, let me know where I can get my 53 Plymouth painted for BBQ and a case of Bud, 'round here it takes a pretty decent sized checkbook for those of us who don't measure up to your standard.
  19. Something I've been waiting for for months!
  20. We have that discussion a lot over on the HAMB. It's a rare man, indeed, who can do it all and do it well. Almost everyone has to pay someone else to do at least a portion of the job. Glad to hear you're not one of them.
  21. What would you expect the motivation to be, benevolent charity towards the hobbyists? Of course it's all about the 'Benjamins'.
  22. Well, seeing that he's a heretic and blasphemer, I figure a good old-fashioned stoning or burning at the stake could be in order. Unless, of course we'd like him to hang around which is probably more likely!
  23. and the "checkbook holder". He who pays the fiddler (designer, builder, whatever) calls the tune.
