Tamyia TS-13 is back
Austin T replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hopefully we don't have another episode of what happened ages ago when Tamiya pulled all their paints out of the USA for a year because of that. I had a friend that lived in Buffalo NY at the time and would make routine trips into Canada just for Tamiya paints. -
What about those of us without a sub to McM? Is there a place online where I can at least find out what the Custom Clinic Photo contest is?

Will GM's problems ever end?
Austin T replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)

This just sounds like a really bad idea. How long before some curious five year old slips past their parent and under the rail only to stumble down into a massive hole? Even if the kid makes it out of there would be law suits. To me it sounds like this conversation went on in a GM conference room somewhere: “Well, do we have enough money to fill the hole in?” “No sir” “Alright, here’s what we’ll do, buy as much fill as we can, then whatever hole is left becomes a new attraction!” “Genius idea sir.”

It may just be a coincidence but I've noticed that Revell kits have dropped in price as well, I think they may have lowered their MAP program they initiated a few months back when ever kits started to get a little high.

Save the money and put it towards that new 2015 Mustang you want. Problem solved!
-
How does that even happen? Even if it was stolen for some at some point you figure someone would have noticed that the box was practically weightless. Also the guys at the post office don't even know what's in there so why randomly open a package and steal a book when I'm sure there are things more valuable in other boxes.

Bob Downie's 2015 'Stang
Austin T replied to Sixx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In the most respectful way I can try to muster, your not getting it. Derrick never once said "Hey SA's great check them out!" he only mentioned as if to cite it for the pictures, much like how many papers cite other articles. He is not pushing us towards them, he is just informing us. "Has anyone else read the article in the August issue of Scale Auto?Bob's 2015 'Stang is so free king cool !!!!!" At no point did he push it, he just mentioned it. Imagine him saying something like "Bob Downie built a sweet 2015 Mustang" It's great but is extremely vague and leaves many people clueless as to where they can find more info on it. Maybe if you didn't take everything as a threat you wouldn't have posted in such a haste, not allowing you to properly analyze the OP forcing you into the position where you have to stick to your guns to retain respect. I like you Harry, your a nice guy, but sometimes you jump to conclusions too fast. -

Me and many others don't have accounts on the SA forum, what about us? Is it this hard to say "Hey this guy deserves some credit because he built a really cool model" without someone getting bent out of shape? -

To me all I see is someone trying to spread the word of a cool build by a renowned modeler in our community, he's even a member of this forum as well. If you really want to let the name of a magazine stop you from seeing quality work then feel free to be binded in place by a silly rule. I honestly don't care which mag puts out the article, if it interests me I will get it. I get my model mags because of the people who made the models, not the people who made the mag. Also here's a picture of his stunning Mustang mentioned above. I'd love to have those wheels for mine when I find one. -
My Car in Hot Rod Magazine
Austin T replied to BKcustoms's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember seeing the car and reading your name and saying "That seems familiar, where have I seen that name before". Glad to see that your ride made it in, congrats. -
Not really a misprint but the headline does make you wonder a few things.

Excellent build Sven. -
I'd love to attend but sadly the 19th I'm going to be driving back from Florida all day.

Those are pretty cool, but the GTO with the fiery burnout has to be the coolest one.

I thought Harry was talking about moving parts of the Forum around when I read the title.

Interesting, I think I may have to get one just to add to my Datsun collection.

Joke all you want guys, this is innovation towards the future whether you like it or not. If this goes well for Harley I'm sure that they will make plenty of other electric bikes in the future. And don't worry, guys will find ways to make them just as cool as the regular gas ones. Remember that Hod Rodding never dies, it just evolves as time goes by.

I'll give Harley props for trying to expand their horizons with an electric bike, hopefully this goes better than when they tried to go big into the sport bike world with Buel. Also for those of you who may not know HD also recently came out with a 500 and 750 "street" bike. It's pretty easy to tell that Harley is looking towards the younger generation with these new bikes. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/street-500.html http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/street-750.html
