  1. Looking fantastic so far! The dash detail is beautiful!
  2. Wouldn't these manufacturing facilities be temperature controlled? As in AC in the summer and heated in the winter. Don't see how outdoor temp and/or humidity could have any impact on the manufacturing process. After all, the injection molding machines aren't outdoors!
  3. Looks like you're going to have to lower the grille shell some...
  4. Well, Art... in any case, an interesting modeling subject, and we look forward to your progress on this.
  5. Get yourself some white decal paper and cut your own stripe decals.

  7. More tidbits I found while looking into this car... For Toyota's 50th Anniversary, it was discovered that no original AA could be found anywhere, so Toyota decided to build a replica for the anniversary. However, complete plans and/or mechanical drawings also did not exist, so all existing AA replicas are based on "guesstimates" of the original car in many instances.
  8. If energy cannot be created or destroyed, what explains a candle? When you light a candle, have you not created heat energy? When you blow out the candle, have you not destroyed heat energy?
  9. Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Before the production model AA, they built three prototypes called A1, none of which survive. To build the A1s, Toyoda bought an Airflow and disassembled it to study it (and to copy it's basic design). The AA engine was copied from a Chevrolet engine, and the chassis and electrics were copied from Ford.
  10. According to Wikipedia, there is one original AA in existence. It was found in derelict condition in Russia in 2008, and is now in a museum in the Netherlands, unrestored. So like you said, any "restored" AA is in fact a recreation and not a real AA.
  11. Wicked Game is a song by Chris Isaak.
  12. Looks to have a lot of Airflow "influence?" Looks to me like they directly copied the Airflow.
  13. I love it! Beautiful colors (body, interior, wheels and trim)... it works great together!
  14. I figured out a way for the model to be displayed with the hood straps connected, or with the hood open, without having to mess with opening and closing the tiny buckles. I built the straps as one piece, buckled, and permanently attached the straps and the brackets on the left side of the body. For the right side, I made new brackets out of solder, flattened the ends, drilled holes in the flattened ends, and inserted tiny brass nails, superglued to the bracket. Then I attached the ends of the straps to these brackets. The long brass nails fit into holes I drilled in the wooden frame rail cap, and are a friction fit, holding the closed straps tight against the hood. If I want to open the hood, all I do is pull out the brackets.
  15. Yes.
  16. I ran out of the most well-known ones, and didn't want to use Harry Potter or Harry and the Hendersons. I'll stick with good old Dirty Harry for the foreseeable future.
  17. This photo is from 1922:
  18. Seems like you change your avatar hourly!
  19. Shouldn't the smaller tires be in the front?
  20. Yes, these two are the same scale!
  21. This is another Italeri kit, like the Fiat Mefistofele I posted previously. Not an easy kit to build... too many parts interfere with the location of other parts, meaning a lot of modifying of parts is needed, and even then there is still a lot of frustration in getting everything to go where it's supposed to go. In the end, many parts really aren't lined up well, especially in the engine compartment. This one is definitely not one of my best efforts, it was just that frustrating to build. WIP here if you're interested...
  22. Got this one finished... it's Under Glass.
  23. Sorry if my comment came across as a put-down. It wasn't meant to be... I was just saying that in my opinion a little color would have been nice. The model itself is great, nicely built. Just looks a little bland to me, colorwise.
