Lacquer over Pledge Floor Care Finish?

That's true! -
That's a real nice model. I like it a lot.

When I was a kid I lived in Chicago. Bill's Hobby Shop on Fullerton Ave. was my Saturday hang out. Closed many years ago. When I got married we moved to the suburbs. Venture Hobbies in Wheeling, IL., was probably the single largest hobby shop in the entire Chicago metro area. I spent a lot of disposable income there over the years. Closed several years ago. Al's Hobbies in Lombard, IL., probably the second largest hobby shop in the area... closed several years ago. See a pattern here?

You should have warned us to only look at this thread if wearing sunglasses...

Nobody has scarier creatures than we do here in the Chicago area. They're huge, walk on two legs, and will screw you over any chance they get. We call them "politicians."
-
Well, you did say "all comments welcome."

If the car had been sitting a long time, the tires would have lost air and been flat... they wouldn't have separated from the rims like that and still be able to hold air pressure.

White Lightning? Am I missing something? I see gray primer...
-
There's something funny going on with the wheels... they are sticking out past the tires.

Marcos... you need to check your audio recordings. In every one of your videos I've seen, your voice can barely be heard and it's distorted.

Lacquer over Pledge Floor Care Finish?

You just don't get it. I accept that he doesn't like Future as a clear coat. All I ever asked of him was "why not?" In fact, this whole debate began when Rich said "I consider Future to be an inferior product for a final finish for a model car, though, and would never use it that way." And I said "What do you base your opinion on?" In no way did I ever disparage or refuse to accept Rich's methods, because Rich never revealed his methods. All I did was ask him a simple question... and now somehow we're involved in some sort of online war of words? Sheesh... -

You need to read more carefully. I never cast aspersions on Rich's methods. Heck, I don't even know Rich's methods! I only asked why he said Future makes a lousy clear coat, because it obviously works very well for that purpose. I only wanted to hear his explanation, not try to get him to agree with my method. -
The interior door panels look great. Nice work.

No matter how many Moebius Hudsons I see posted here, I never get tired of seeing them. I can't believe that nobody ever made a Hudson kit until Moebius finally stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park! This model is another very well done example of a terrific kit.

Welcome, Greg. Just an FYI... full name is a forum rule.

I agree. Just as Adam West is Batman. Period. BTW... on a recent episode of Jay Leno's Garage, Jay and Adam West went through a fast-food drive through... in the Batmobile! It was pretty cool...

Italeri Steyr Truck Question
Harry P. replied to Leonidas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Do you know how to resin cast parts? If so, the answer is obvious: cast duplicates of the rear axle, wheels, and tires. If you don't know how to resin cast, I'd bet there are several guys here who would step up and cast the parts you need if you mailed them the existing parts. There are a lot of good guys here... I'd be willing to bet you'll find someone who will help you out. Maybe try posting your needs in the Truck Kits or Parts to Trade, or Wanted / Requests section. -

Thanks, Brian. It's a Duesenberg, and their engines were painted in that characteristic bright apple green color. -
Ok, I seem to get the point that some of you refuse to shop at HL because they are a Christian-owned company. If that's how you feel, fine. You have every right to shop–or not shop–wherever you decide, for whatever reason you decide. I won't judge anyone for their opinion. My last comment on this subject will be this: Refusing to shop at HL is only doing yourself a disservice, as they not only carry a pretty nice selection of kits, paints, airbrushes, and all sorts of glues, brass rod and tubing, basswood strips in many sizes, sheet styrene, etc., etc... but you can find all sorts of cool stuff in their jewelry aisle that works perfectly to replicate scale chain, cable, various widgets, etc. If you have even the slightest bit of imagination, you will find dozens of things at HL that lend themselves directly to model cars. For example, I buy a leather-like material in their sewing department that makes perfect in-scale "leather." I found a sheet of "mother of pearl" patterned paper in their scrapbooking aisle that made the perfect "mother of pearl" gauge panel insert for my Pocher Mercedes. And on and on. HL is like a giant treasure chest of model building goodies. And like I said, they do not push the "Christian" thing at all. In fact, I never even knew they were Christian owned until that whole court case regarding Obamacare made the news some time ago. Bottom line: I find tons of useful things at HL. I am not in the least bit bothered by the fact that they are Christian-owned. I wouldn't care if they were Hindu-owned, or Buddhist-owned, or atheist-owned. Their ownership has zero effect on my personal beliefs. I shop there for the products, not for the "religious experience." But if you prefer not to shop there, that's perfectly ok. Not my place to judge your decision. Over and out.

I'm really surprised that so many of you guys actually refuse to shop at HL because of some sort of personal thing. I don't get it. I don't see what HL has ever done to anyone that would deserve such a negative response. As far as playing "Christian" music in the store, I never even noticed it. And if it's all instrumental, I'd never recognize it as "Christian" music anyway... just your typical in-store background noise.
