Just a thought about the U.S.
Harry P. replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks like you need an ATV to be able to park in the lot, though... -
They are a handful. Some of the bigger kits (the Rolls Royces, for example) have almost 3,000 parts.

I don't know about the rest of you, but if I could afford to spend two million bucks on a car, I'd buy myself a really nice car... and invest the remaining $1,900,000. Spending two million bucks on a car (even if you can afford to do it) is just nuts to me.

I'm going to build it, but photos are a long way off! These babies take some time to build. Here's are a couple of finished ones I did a few years ago.

They're not pre-painted, the parts are cast in different colored plastic. And they're not diecasts, they're regular plastic injection-molded kits, but there are a lot of metal parts like the radiator shell, headlight buckets, lots of chassis parts like linkages and shocks and stuff like that, metal wheel rims and spokes, etc. And hundreds and hundreds of tiny screws and other assorted hardware. But the body panels, most of the chassis and most of the engine are plastic.

Did you know that Jefferson Airplane recorded "Wooden Ships" too? I think even before CS&N had the hit version.

Grace Slick, Jack Casady, Jorma Kaukonen, Spencer Dryden, etc. Doesn't get much cooler than this...

Why the right hand drive? You're from North Carolina, fer Pete's sake, not the UK or Oz...

Not a bad guess, I guess!

Wats with the Google advertisements?
Harry P. replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nobody should still be using IE. There are so many better browsers out there. Using IE is like driving a Model T in 2012. -
I don't know. I've never weighed one! If you mean built (not the whole box), I would guess somewhere around 5-6-7 pounds? They have a lot of metal parts, it's not all just plastic, so that adds to the weight.

Me too. I block ads and pop-ups. Sorry Gregg. -

Care to elaborate on the "little buddy" reference? -
I wish! That would have been a steal. Actually I paid $450.

Exactly! Ads and stuff if you want it, one click and it all goes away if you don't! -
Very nice. I love the color, and your paint job looks smooth as glass!

It hasn't arrived yet! But this is the kit. Not this listing, but the same kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pocher-Alfa-Romeo-SC-2300-Monza-1931-Never-assembled-/360452775959

1/32 Andretti Lola Indy Car- Highly Detailed
Harry P. replied to Art Laski's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks very good. You really made the most out of a fairly simple, basic model. -
So would a lot of people who actually went to Woodstock! He was the last to perform, and by the time he came onstage the crowd of 500,000 or so had dwindled down to maybe 40-50,000... just a tenth of what was there the day before. Interesting Woodstock trivia: Creedence Clearwater Revival played there. Not many people realize that, because John Fogerty insisted that CCR's performance was NOT to appear in the Woodstock movie (I don't know why he insisted that, but he did!).

I'd be willing to bet that you were actually wandering those aisles. Unless you mean you were thinking about some islands somewhere?

How do I best replicate high polished aluminum?
Harry P. replied to JamesW's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This isn't a tip, trick or technique... it's a question. Please post in the correct section. I'm really getting tired of moving posts to where they were supposed to be posted... -
Snagged a Pocher 1931 Alfa 2300 Monza (unbuilt, complete kit!) on ebay yesterday for an incredible "Buy it Now" price, literally hundreds of $$$ less than the other listings for the same kit. And the shipping was only 15 bucks! (Those Pocher boxes are HUGE, so I got a great deal on the shipping cost, too! Sometimes you just get lucky...

Now there's a model you don't see every day! Nicely done.
