  1. Check this out. Moebius "GIANT" insect kit. 1/13 scale. 1/13 scale??? If it's a GIANT insect kit, how can it be 1/13 scale??? http://www.hobbycosf...inmomoscpl.html
  2. I don't think the tires sticking out past the body sides would ever have made it past NASCAR tech inspections.
  3. Not if you're talking scale. Pochers are all 1/8 scale.
  4. On the plus side: very nice interior and dash, it looks great. On the minus side: the silver painted window trim is pretty shaky. I suggest you try chrome foil on your next model. It's not that hard to do, and the effect is much more realistic than painted trim. Also it's much easier to get a nice, straight edge.
  5. Kind of odd damage from being rear-ended... were you hit by a ship or a 19th century locomotive?
  6. My parents didn't want me building in the house, so they bought a small Caribbean island for me where I could build on the weekends. That way I could leave out my "mess" and not have to clean it up every time. However, eventually they got tired of paying the airfare back and forth, so I had to give up model building for a while (until I grew up and got a house of my own).
  7. Yeah, I know Loony Tunes. But I've never heard of that character before.
  8. Marvin the Martian? Never heard of him. Ok, I googled it. Now I can say I've heard of him...
  9. I thought we were talking about winning the Olympics and landing on Mars...
  10. Model Cars #168 May/June 2012 has a feature by Manny that shows exactly how he creates his junkers, including how he creates dented and damaged body panels on diecasts.
  11. Exactly! Never mind the junker car, where did you get the diner and phone booth from?
  12. So... to get back to the beginning of this thread, we did win the Olympics (if "winning the Olympics" means winning the most medals. And I think it does. )
  13. No, we don't all take credit. But we all benefit.
  14. I think a set of black stripes (or a flat black hood) would work well with the black wheels.
  15. Never heard that line before, but I like it!
  16. That model is almost contest-winning quality. If that's your first car, I'd say you are doing just fine! In fact, a lot better than just fine.
  17. White. Better contrast with the car.
  18. I always start with a google search. A good site for MOPAR info is allpar.com
  19. Those cars were "uni-body" cars, which means they had no separate frame. The body shell and underside were all welded together as one piece, and painted as one piece... first in primer and then the color coats. The bottom got a little bit of body color overspray (like you did on your Charger), but there would be no black down there. It would be primer red.
  20. How about this one? Real or model? The answer: REAL!
  21. Mine can't come back. I changed the locks!
  22. I agree the blower/scoop is a just a bit on the large side... but other than that, spectacular! And with your usual flawless paint.
  23. Ditto and amen! A college degree isn't for everyone. And for many it's not even a necessity. I know, I know... there are certain fields (medicine, law, finance, etc.) where you have to have a degree, but there are plenty of other options. Not everyone is destined to be a lawyer or doctor or corporate-type person. A good trade school that also has an apprenticeship and/or placement program makes a lot more sense for many people that a college degree. A kid who likes to work with his hands is probably better off getting an apprentice job as a carpenter, electrician, plumber, etc. when they graduate HS, and by the time their friends are graduating college and beginning their lives in the hole with many thousands of $$$ in college loan debt, they will have been working for four years making money. Again, I'm not saying that works for everyone, but I agree with Charlie that we have fooled ourselves into thinking that everyone must go to college in order to make it in the world.
