Right now I haven't been at the bench for a couple of weeks. The house is tore up, due to some remodeling and work went to overtime, fall harvest is right around the corner and all the farmers need their equipment fixed. Maybe when the leaves change color?!

The only one that I liked at all was the Shelby, and even that was marginal. What about the Chrysler Atlantic, or any of the '50s era 'vette prototypes, or the '54 Buick Wildcat. These were all good looking concepts that would have made an interesting impact on the current design of the automobile. Frankly, the thats put out by the auto manufactuers today is redundent, and has no 'personality'. Just my narrow-minded, pinn-headed opinion. Paul

Does it tell a story? If it does , then yes, I think it falls into the catagory of a diorama. If it doesn't, then no, it's just a model on a base with a figure. Just my narrow-minded, pin-headed opinion.

I hate yellow paint!
uncle potts replied to uncle potts's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm using grey primer, duplicolor, I've had good luck with it on everything else, maybe I need to try your suggestion of the white primer, can't hurt. Thanks -
I've never had any luck with yellow. I only use rattle cans, because I have no place I can paint indoors. (no paint booth, can't afford one right now, and the better half is VERY sensitive to the fumes). So what do I do? Other than paint my model a different color. I do admit the conditions right now are very poor for painting, !00 degree temps, and 80 to 90 % humidity. Any Ideas, cause I'm starting to pull my hair out.

A wheel, a lot of smoke... a lot of fun... Steampunk... DONE!
uncle potts replied to Brizio's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is a fastenating build. I really like the "steampunk" genre, and would like to give it a try myself. watching this is starting to encourage me to dive in and see what I can come up with. -
Ok, so my picture that I tried to download was too big. Now since I am a technomoron, how do I make it smaller, can't seem to figure it out.

Also, some pictures of the tops of the trees. How far up into them did you go. Looks very realistic, very nicely done.

I've got my share of unfinished projects also. Either I get stumped, or I come up with one more "great idea" that has to be done right now, then nothing gets finished. The oldest one I started in 1983, swear I'm going to finish it some day too.

Man does that bring back memories, had one of these in 1:1. Mine was green with a 318, but still loved that car. Very nice build, quality work, very well done!

ok, I admit I'm a little slow, but I reread your opening post three times, can't figure out how you did that wood grain. It looks great! Can you give us a more indepth description of your methods. I have always liked woody's, but could never get the wood to look right. Thank you for sharing this project with us.

I leave my older builds alone, that way I can compare with a more recent build to see if my abilities have impeoved at all. But it's yours so do what you want. However it is a nice build, I'd leave it be.

Ken I know I'm a late comer to this thread, but I have to say that every time I see your work I am amazed. I wish you were closer to the middle of the country, because I'm sure that pictures do not do your work justice. I would love to meet you in person and discuss building diorama's. I have built several, but none of my work compares to yours. I will keep looking for your work to show up here and see what new and creative idea you've come up with. Thanks alot for sharing, we all love what we see,and get a great deal of inspiration from your work.

Digging up Bones ...

Thanks. Us newbies need to know that our two cents is woth something too. -
where did you get your trees? They are the hardest part of an outdoor setting to replicate in 1/25th scale. I'm always looking for fresh ideas to improve my diorama's.Your trees look very realistic, and this tends to be a weak area in mine. Nicely done, very creative idea.

If you have a well stocked LHS in your area you can also get oak in the same sizes as basswood. I've also used the acrylic paints that Harry mentioned and it's worked well for me. may have to try the ink and alcohol solution I like how it turned out.
