  1. I had the Coronet version. Slant six. My brother had the Sport Fury. I don't like too many cars from the mid 70's, but these still catch my attention.
  2. I tend to skip commenting on things I like the majority of the time. There's a lot that I see on this board that I like. But then there are things that I really like a lot. I'm compelled to comment. Cool project!
  3. Got my attention, too. Love old mopars and you're headed in a good direction here.
  4. Nice clean build. Looks fantastic.
  5. I really dig this. Great subject and scratching.
  6. I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but your pics aren't showing on the page. I have to right-click and open the images in a new tab to see them. I'm guessing that you're using the link that your host tells you to use to share. I've found that if you copy the url from the address field instead they work properly. Anyway, this is a great project. I actually started a stretched '63 Olds years ago. It's sitting on my "don't just forget about this project" shelf, but since then experience has taught me that it would have been much easier to use one body instead of two, and create new side and roof panels from sheet plastic. That's for the Olds, though...I think with the Cat you may be better off doing as you are.
  7. I still have one of these from the HH reissue. It's always near the bench but I can never decide what color to paint it. I do know I'll be sticking a 302 in there, though, and saving the 429 for something else. I know they leave a lot to be desired in the detail department, but I love these old style tools. They look great on the shelf.
  8. Thanks, guys. Yep, the lenses make a huge difference on this one. I was going for a quick finish here but once I opened up the grill there was no way I could skip that. I may still go back and paint the grill surround once I restock on BMF (that's the only way I can manage that masking job). You're right, it would tighten up the look of the front a good deal.
  9. Very cool. I love these medium duty trucks.
  10. I finally got my hands on a semi-decent camera. Here's my Scout II. I'll try to get some sunlight pics tomorrow, if the weather is cooperative. It's essentially oob, with a small handful of tweaks. Grill opened up from behind Molded in headlights hogged out and replaced Door handles opened up 4" Lift Aluminum tubing exhaust tip Scratchbuilt tube bumpers Parts box Gas Cap Side Mirrors extra material hogged out for better accuracy MPC Desert Dog PCV's on Centerlines from an AMT '59 El Camino reissue with outer rims from the parts box added for some offset I also added some strip plastic to the rocker areas of the chassis tub - a void that once filled made a massive improvement to how the body fits on the finished chassis. I was going to give the engine and bay the basic detailing, but after inspecting my research photos of the engine and finding that it was far enough from accurate to make it a quick and easy run, I decided to skip it and just let it all be. For some reason, this thing is screaming to me to give it zebra striped seat covers, so I must oblige. It has to wait for me to get some decal sheet for the printer, though...so it's technically not quit finished. I'll probably add a few minor details as they come to me, like a ball for the hitch plate that I built into the rear bumper, maybe a winch and a couple off-road lights for the front. But for the moment I have other projects that I'd like to button up so I'm calling it done for now. Thanks for looking, and I'm always open to suggestions and constructive criticism so feel free to offer if you have any. Glu
  11. Jeff, what a great subject! This is definitely in my top 10 truck projects I'd like to tackle one of these days. Please check your pm's...I think I may be able to help on the tire.
  12. x3 on making them out of strip styrene. Plastic is nice and easy to shape, and welding plastic to plastic is usually stronger than the alternatives, without the need to add as much bulk for reinforcement. Besides, it's just good clean building and great practice for making other parts. Go for it!
  13. Zed, your paint work always amazes me. Looks fantastic! Sir Watson would be proud.
  14. Ha! Those are great! Thanks for posting.
  15. As one who's also had issue with the '59 roof, this is something I've always had in the back of my head. I look forward to watching this one...and it's good to see you back at it, Bill!
  16. Nothing rat rod about that, from where I'm sitting. Looks straight out of the HAMB (and that's a great thing!). Great job. As others have said, the weathering is dead nuts on...really good mojo.
  17. I'm assuming that the city bus wheels are pretty close, as well? Could you also take a quick measurement of the tire width and height? While we're at it, a close-up of the wheel and tire would be much appreciated. These certainly aren't parts kits, but I'm trying to form a better understanding of what's out there in these asian kits.
  18. That works just fine. Thanks a lot. Now I know they belong on my "need" list.
  19. Hey Steve! I see you're still knockin' them out of the park. Looks great!
  20. Great looking truck. These have caught my eye lately. I'm scale stupid - any chance you could take a pic of this next to a 1/25 scale somethingorother for size reference?
  21. Great to see the Vandal back out. I'll definitely be grabbing a couple of those. I've had a project based on that kit in mind for a while. Stock Hum is a welcome sight as well. Foose is a little late to the party, yes, but his designs are generally clean enough that they hold up okay over time. What I hope doesn't happen is they alter the Firebird body irreversibly from stock. Throw all the doo-dads at it it'll take, but that's a great kit and I'd hate to see the old habit of making a return to stock a non-option again. Sheesh, I almost missed the Challenger 1 in there. Typical 60's Revell fiddly kit, but a great subject and with some work comes out real nice. Since I totally ransacked mine for a kitbash project ages ago, it'll be great to add that one back into the collection.
  22. They're not something I'd ever go out of my way to build, either...but I can appreciate them. CARToons magazine was a huge influence for me as a kid, and they remind me of all those times I spent thumbing through those pages, following the misadventures of Krass and Bernie, and challenging myself on all the drawing cars how-to's. So that's how I connect with them...a simple appreciation for nostalgia. I have to admit, though, that it's kinda funny how ga-ga the fan clubs can get when one comes up on here.
