  1. Real MetalFlake is much too big to AirBrush. You will need a Mini Paint gun for Real MetalFlake. Check out the threads I have up for Pearl Ex Powders or Paint With Pearl Powders. CadillacPat
  2. Sounds like you may want to call the people at Hoveround!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CadillacPat
  3. Plenty of Paint Booth threads here. Just use the Search feature. CadillacPat
  4. I really don't see what "new idiom" of cars could be "created" by further whittling down cars like this. If you removed anything else from this "design" it would be just a shell, much like the boring cars Coddington "designed". Smooth. sleek, functional, all those terms already describe cars like the XK-150, MGA, Talbot Lago. Corvette, Ferraris of the past, Datsun 280-ZX. Cars that had shape, style and function. The word minimalist is just that, minimally appealing. CadillacPat
  5. Functional?, sure, Ferrari designed it. But Beauty?? Maybe a technical work of art. This looks like, A) One of those 4 blade Schick Razors, A vending machine laying down on its back, C) A Street Luge C) If only it did have some of the styling of early NASCARs Certainly, these races are not about the looks of the automobiles, But it was not so long ago that they were!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6. Thanks Chuck, I do like the idea of fender bumping excrescences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Junior High English still serves, an excrescence is a normal outgrowth of the body, something that should be there, naturally. So yeah, It would only seem normal to me to give the body a bit more pizazz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice paint and dash, it's just missing something as a driver. CadillacPat
  7. Exactly, Fenders would ruin and destroy this naked effect giving the car body, form and appeal. Otherwise it's just a shiny Ratrod. It looks like it left the house without a shirt on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. A nice clean build. Much better than the Boyd Smoothster. But, please, put some fenders on it for a real finished look!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CadillacPat
  9. Since everything you said is heresay, I'm curious what advice you think would be useful?
  10. Tamiya tape is all I use. You can remove it on wet paint or cured, it doesn't matter. Using Painters Tape saved you a couple of pennies but look what happened. CadillacPat
  11. That I speak of????? Just go to the library and ask for information on The Oil Embargo, or, ask anybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CadillacPat
  12. Shades of "The BodySnatchers"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or the scene in The Fifth Element where the chic is recreated from her foot. That's all neat stuff, If they really want to build these for a practical purpose, and to really make money, they should give us a device for under $200 that can print out a Shrimp Po-Boy all the way, when you are up at around 3a.m. CadillacPat
  13. that's hilarious Man, Some people should just let others do the thinking for them, if you know what I mean. Probably another 12 year old that snuck in under the wire. CadillacPat
  14. Good luck Norml, would like to see the pics when you get it back from Chrome Tech. You posted your info in such an objective and honest manner that I knew I could get real ansers from you, thanks. There has been a position by 2 or 3 here that full tilt machines, producing perfect durable Models and all their parts, all done with the simple touch of a button, using styrene plastic or something comparable, with software no more complicated than using our present InkJets, at home InkJet prices (let's be generous and say $300), are being used successfully by Hobbyists or will be in a couple of months. One day, sure, but not today, not for quite sometime to reach all those prerequisites. Industial uses, sure, but it would be quite an outlay of cash for a Hobbyist to make 1/24 scale wheels and such. You are using your machine for what I hear others say they use theirs, prototypes, or to see how things look at different scales. Hope it all holds up under the hood. CadillacPat
  15. Regardless of what process could be used, Chrome Tech, or even real Chrome Plating on metals, It's the prep work that counts, things have to be super smooth. It still boils down to attaining a high grade finish, with a Home 3D Printer at this point in time, producing lasting products using high end durable plastics. Norml, if you add up the cost of your machine, materials, taxes, delivery, everything and base it as the cost for this one badge, What would it be? CadillacPat
  16. It's not the Chrome Tech process that will harm the parts with heat. It is the heat from the engine that will either harm the materials of the badge or more likely the thin Chrome Plastic film . CadillacPat
  17. So what was the floor wax supposed to be for? Did you test any plastic chrome to see if it would melt under the high temperatures under the hood? Up to what temperature is the badge itself supposed to be safe? CadillacPat
  18. I commend you on your outlook that you want your cuts to be as accurate as possible. I would keep searching for the saw that will give you cuts that YOU are satisfied with. You will always hear other people say, that's good enough or that's accurate enough, but if you continue on the path you are on your work will always stand out from other's who compromise their beliefs. CadillacPat
  19. Considering the little wedge shaped nothings that have come out of Detroit for the last 38 years, and littered our driveways and hwy's with zero eye candy, can we ever really get enough of looking at perfect 1970 Chevelles? Not me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CadillacPat
  20. What I mean is, will the plastic chrome film (chrome plate) from Chrome Tech, melt? I would take some sprue or chromed pieces that you have laying around and lay them on the Valve Cover to see how the chrome reacts to engine heat. I don't think it will pass muster. CadillacPat
  21. Isn't Chrome Tech a Vacuum Chrome process for plasti?. Seems like I had some 1/18 1989 HW Batmobile wheels chromed by them a long time ago. Even if you say your material will hold up on a Valve Cover, do you think the Chrome Tech materials and process will?? What about spraying it heat resistant Silver and going for a textured metal look? CadillacPat
  22. Here's another of my NASCAR Passions. This one is done a little different than than the previous Frank Bandy NASCAR Passion. " NASCAR Passion RaceCar " Here's something I've been making for my regular Passion Collectors. SnowWhite Pearl Passion emblazoned with the Confederate Flag, racing logos and scallops. Inlaid RhineStone Headlights, Custom Wheels, Rims and Center Caps, Interior, and it is all packaged in a ClamShell ProtectoPak with a Custom 2 sided Glossy Photocard and personalized folded bubbble insert. HOK Urethane Clear with Aztec Gold Pearl Powder. This one went out to Passion Collector Scott Peterson. Collectors order these with their own Custom changes to make them a very Personal Passion for their displays. All Products Used Are Exclusively House Of Kolor, Of Course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Decals are printed on Clear InkJet Decal Paper from Papilio.com CadillacPat
  23. I have had a lot of HotWheels Chrome plated and Gold Plated. The final results all depend on just how smooth you prepare the substrate. Any tiny mperfections and scratches will always show. Most platers do not want to work with anything that isn't properly prepared. Do your parts from the 3D Printer come out perfectly smooth? CadillacPat
  24. Wow, it's a long ways from looking like a Jaguar. This is the Vector HotWheel, a stylized whatever that is always seen in quantities left on the pegs after all the good stuff is picked through. This may have been designed primarily for the tiny very hard to find parking spaces in the EU. CadillacPat
  25. The SuperFine White Milliput can be wet sanded to a smooth porcelain like finish. If you want toxic try Bondo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that is toxic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CadillacPat
