I never really understood this one , but you have done a great job building it . It looks really nice ! My LHS has a couple and I might pick one up as I see a couple of parts I'd like to have .
-
Yes it is ! I bought that in the 80's and as far as I know they were a one time deal . They do show up on ebay quite a bit .

Alan , that is beautiful ! Great job rebuilding it back to pristine condition . I love those big Chryslers ! -
Thanks everyone ! They are Aurora AFX HO scale slot cars .

That's really nice ! The colors really make it stand out . Nice detailing and the wheel and tire combo looks great ! Educate me a bit . . . what are PPP asphalt tires ?

These are pictures I took before boxing everything up many years ago . All of the hand painted cars except for the Wrangler Monte Carlo are originals from the early 60's and were raced pretty hard , so they are pretty beat up with missing spoilers and such . The Wrangler car was done in the 80's and has never been on a track ! Also it's the only Tyco car I have left . The rest are some originals from the 70's and some from the 80's , except for a few with Johnny Lightning bodies that I bought about 10 years ago . Nothing really fancy but they all ran great ! I've sold a couple of them but the rest are still tucked away in a box . Hopefully when someone opens that box one day they will enjoy them as much as I did !

That's a beautiful 442 Jim ! I love the interior and the purple paint . I'm also a fan off the texture paint and I like the chrome wheels better !

I was referring to the $6000 retired price as being inflated . I feel all of their prices are a bit high simply because of low numbers left in stock and don't reflect the real value on the open market .
-
I have to agree with you about the scale and the price , and also that $800 is too much for their 1/18 Cobras . As for the "retired" price for your GT40 , I think Exoto is purposely trying to inflate the price . I have a couple of the Daytona Coupes that are also "retired" and priced at about 800 dollars . Realistically I could maybe get $250 and maybe a bit more for the polished aluminum one. I sold two of my Grand Sports and felt lucky to get $200 for each of them !

Very nicely done Peter ! You can't go wrong with a 427 Fairlane , especially in white . Great job and welcome back to the hobby !

There are an awful lot of Mustang fans out there and they can't get enough new kits ! I'm happy for them even though I'm not one of them . -

Screamin Eagle GTO pro stock
TooOld replied to ratnasty's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That's about the only way to build a Screamin' Eagle , the prices are ridiculous ! Your decals look really good , any chance of you sharing ? I'm also building Dick Jesse's Mr . Unswitchable , but with a stretched body and rectangular frame like the original car . The MPC kit was completely wrong . Already have those decals from Special Appearance decals . -
BMF shelf life...how long ?
TooOld replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
No , I'm not recommending anything , what you are doing is probably just fine . Where I live we don't have much cold weather ( it's 89 degrees outside right now ) so the fridge just seemed like a good idea . The AC doesn't kick on 'till about 78 and by then it can be a bit sticky in here ! -
The simple explanation is . . . two different manufacturers . The new Revell body is a really nice piece but I think the MPC '67 body is probably correct .

BMF shelf life...how long ?
TooOld replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I might be wrong about this but I'm not sure it will stick to bare plastic . I remember trying this with another brand before I bought some BMF and it didn't work . Of course it was garbage anyway , that's why I bought the "real" stuff ! -
BMF shelf life...how long ?
TooOld replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Bill , I have two sheets of "Chrome" BMF that I've had just over one year , one came with a few wrinkles in it and the other didn't have any . I've kept them laying flat in the envelope and in the refrigerator since day one and there are no additional winkles appearing . I just used some on a body yesterday and it worked just like the first time , nice and smooth and the adhesive was just fine . I've heard that the "Ultra Bright" Chrome is a bit different but I've never tried it . I always polish the "Chrome" before cutting it from the sheet to give it a bright finish ! Also I've experimented with some of the wrinkled stuff and was able to smooth them out while applying the foil with no cracking . When I was finished it was impossible to tell it had ever been wrinkled ! Maybe I've been lucky but this is my experience with BMF . I'm interested in how you make out with five year old sheets , please let us know . -
Absolutely beautiful , as usual ! And thanks again for the "in progress" photos .

Here's a couple I got out of an old printer .
