Sometimes a very short 'Nice Model' or 'Really like your build' reply is nice to get. Some people are more wordy than others with their replies, others not, whilst many just use the 'like' just for speed. Just people's different reply styles.

Very nice car. Looks like it was painted in BL Pageant Blue like a Dolomite I used to own way back. A real stand out colour. The TR7 was designed with rubber bumpers being an integral part of the design as it was sold first in the USA long before going into UK showrooms. The poor old MGB had its looks completely ruined by having to have rubber bumpers fitted and the ride height altered to comply with USA regulations that were brought in at the time.

My wife was at her hairdressers a couple of months ago and overheard a conversation between another woman and her hairdresser. Lady in question said she worked from home and took a couple of hours out to get her hair done. In the conversation it came out that she worked for the taxpayer funded Citizens Advice Bureau. So taking her travelling time to the hairdressers into account citizens lost 3 hours of access time for advice. Self centred or what? Most of our government offices suffer the plague of WFH people not going in to the office any more as do many other large organisations since covid. Knock on effect is that mamy small shops and street vendors suffered a major foot fal! Loss. If I was a boss of any of those organisations I would be giving my employees a date to get back into the office so the business could run normally. WFH is not efficient in many instances where workers would normally commute.

Evil Iron Trike

I think that black photographic background would suit many other models too. -
Nice model taking shape here. Jo Han made a nice little range of classics along with Monogram back in the day.

Superb paint job and detailing really lifts this model. The way it was photographed accentuats the model really well. -
What is the idea glue for mock-ups?
Bugatti Fan replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Absolutely right Bill! -
Hi Jim. Thanks for the tip off about my Joplin Porsche featuring in the SMW report in Airfix mag and thanks for the compliment about the paint job. I will see if I can get a copy of that mag asap. What you are proposing to put in the case with your daughter's Fiat 500 model sounds like just the job. Cheers Noel

Hi Jim That's a really nice little 500 that you built for your daughter of her own car. I'm sure that she will be over the moon when she opens the package at Christmas. Have you placed it on its base in a nice little display case for her? It was nice to catch up with you briefly at Telford on the Sunday. All the best. Noel

What is the idea glue for mock-ups?
Bugatti Fan replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good old PVA. Doesn't matter who makes this general wood glue, it's all much the same but some manufacturers product viscosity is a bit thicker than others. Ideal for mock ups in plastic or resin as it can be peeled off cleanly afterwards when set, unlike wood that it is designed to penetrate. PVA adhesive was originally developed for the book printing industry. 'Not a lot of people know that!' As Michae! Cane would say. -
Casting or epoxy rein

This thread has been a fascinating read. What with other threads on 3D parts programming and printing, as well as various others on adhesives, paints and properties of different materials one could almost gain enough information from this forum to take a degree in materials technology! LOL -
The work at home mentality becoming more of an expectancy by many who are able to since Covid. Argument being that they can work just as efficiently? I think not due to the many distractions in a home environment where their peers cannot see them. All too easy to often get wrapped up in doing other stuff unrelated to the job. There is a discipline in getting up in the morning, having a shower, getting dressed and actually going to work. Unfortunately this ethic seems to be getting eroded, but those work at homes expect someone else who actually gets up and goes to work to assist them at a supermarket, get seen to in a hospital, or a mechanic being actually available at work to fix their car.

James Bond's latest iteration of his Aston Martin DB5. Enjoyable fantasy car with a coup!e of impossible gadgets. An extendable spinner/shredder coming out from the front wheels would be an impossibility. How would you steer the car? Also the two gatling type machine guns in the front wings. Where would you fit the ammo feeds for them in the car? I have to say that I enjoy a Bond movie just as much as anyone else before any keyboard warriors start! And hey! A Brit actually gets to be the good guy instead of the usual villain in them!

Really interesting thread to follow Les. Pictures much better now you appear to have ditched Photobucket.

Funnily enough, recently I came across an article about weathering this model. It was something I saved out of an old Model Car Science from way back and kept in a folder.

Welcome from across the English Channel Olivier. Look forward to seeing your work.

The Amalgam models one has to remember are sold as fully built models, and probably when you consider their price more highly detailed than the Agora kits aimed at a different market altogether.

Santa's Bentley Sleigh. Now there's a thought for a scratch build or 3D printed model

Nice to see a model being fashioned in metal throughout using traditional engineering techniques. -
Finding the center of these hubs
Bugatti Fan replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The Micro Mark and Taytools centre squares appear to be better than the plastic ones and the keyring versions as they have positive locating edges to place against the circumference of the circular piece like you would also find on a premium expensive branded product. At between 12 and 15 bucks each, less than one would pay for a fret of PE parts! Like all small tools it's a case of horses for courses! Plenty good enough for most of us modellers. Skip has pretty much summed up the differences between premium make tools and the inexpensive tools that most hobby tool suppliers carry. I still have and use all the quality tools that I bought way back when I was an engineering apprentice. But, in most cases in reality modellers would use those sort of tools infrequently unless into true model engineering, so the inexpensive tools would serve quite well for most. -
Santa Claus is a complete and utter idiot! My house has 3 external doors and fifteen windows, but this guy still insists on coming down the chimney!

The meeting about decision-making has been postponed as no one could make up their mind when to have it.

Your most difficult kits
Bugatti Fan replied to T-Ray's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a Pocher 500K to build similar to Pete's. Considering the cost of those gargantuan car kits, the fit of parts could have been much better on many of them. They don't just screw together and in fact it is advisable to tap all the threaded holes as those tiny screws have a habit of shearing off in the holes. Well built Pocher classics hide the sheer amount of work involved in building and finishing them. Great if you like a challenge and have the patience. If not buy Tamiya.
