  1. My first thought is look at all the litter.
  2. Plans, templates & instructions - not really a kit. As a kid I always wanted a 1/72 Monogram B36. Mainly because it said on the box "biggest model plane ever!". Would have needed more than a thumb tack to hold the string into my ceiling!
  3. I was thinking about this last night while putting an engine together. I'm not sure when it happened but the indicator that i'd switched to "grown up building" was when I didn't automatically use the biggest engine, fattest tyres and the supercharger. When I got back into the hobby about 7 years ago was when I found (via the internet) that other adults were doing it and when I discovered aftermarket parts and the difference it made having an income rather than just pocket money. And it was when I first attended the IPMS Model Expo swap meet was when I realised that some of those adults were worse than children when it came to manners, patience and hygiene.
  4. 2 million of those are living overseas - 1 million in Queensland, 999,999 in the UK and 1 in Switzerland. And anyway, you know when you do good we claim you as ours... When is model car building going to assume it's rightfull place both as a 'lympic (and Paralympic) event and in the Space Program?
  5. Did I read somewhere that Pikes Peak is going to be sealed all the way to the top?
  6. I'm glad someone can be bothered taking WIP pics like that. In fact, i'm glad someone can be bothered putting so much work into chassis mods when it can be so much easier to just chop chunks out and then never show anyone. Ahem. Didn't know about GMC using Poncho donks. That's filed in the cerebral filing cabinet (one big drawer labelled Misc.). The grille is actually a minor problem as I only have the version from the Street Machine kit which has rectangular headlights. Now, i'm pretty sure these were around in '62 but i'd prefer round units so i've ordered a replacement grille from The Modelhaus which i'm hoping will fit - depends on how much difference there is between the old promos i'm assuming the parts are cast from and the much newer AMT kit I'm using. I've also ordered some vac formed "glass" as my kit arrived with a crack half way down the dead centre of the windscreen. Again, my fingers are crossed over whether it will fit.
  7. Attention to detail bordering on the obsessive - Well done.
  8. We had an uninsulated cedarwood conservatory on the back of the house that me & my sisters used as our playroom. I had to share an old dining table that I had apparently been told to always put newspaper on to protect the surface (which I will deny to my dying day - boy did I cop it when the knife, glue & paint marks were discovered).
  9. Sweet as. I'm green with envy. My first thought was wow - that grass looks so real! So, you gonna jump it?
  10. Woo hoo! 13th. And we're catching up fast with the fatness thing... Re the "Face on Mars". Modern higher resolution images of the same area reveal... ...nothing. It was an artifact of the relative crudeness of the imaging used back then (or, NASA are covering it up by photoshopping the new pics).
  11. There's a satin black '68 with 01 on the doors in silver or grey running about my neck of the woods. I think of it as the Evil (or Mirror Universe) General - it should really have a goatee...
  12. Cool. Must look out for that at the newsagent. It'll be usefull for that 'vette i'm building... Isn't the reason we (generic we - meaning humans basically) get together into like minded groups so that we can look down on the other groups? Bikers look down on cage drivers and hair dryer riders. Tuner guys look down on the dinosaur muscle car drivers. Car modellers look down on military & train builders. Australians look down on Kiwis & Poms. And everyone hates the French. And there's nothing wrong with that in my book. If you can't feel superior about something then you might as well crawl off into a hole and give up on life.
  13. Thanks Mike.
  14. I'll second that. A recent discovery. I'm on my second and on the look out for more as I really should build one with the stock motor in it. They're not easy to find here.
  15. True Greg, but I guess he had to draw the line somewhere or the book would have been huge.
  16. Here you go. Engine - i'm going with a tri-power set up rather than a blower to cut down on my fuel usage and give my drive train an easier life. Still a 421 block though. Body - since this i've glued the missing roof panel in place. Front & rear are 2 cut down standard pick up roofs. Now to fill & sand & fill & sand & fill & sand &...
  17. I think you're going to a lot more trouble than me Casey. Good work on that Bonnet. I've got most of the interior together and got some paint on the body.
  18. I'm glad I bought the convertible - slightly less BMF. Is that paint or did you carve a body from glass? Very nice.
  19. Cool. Good job. Great paint.

    56 chevy

Very nice. Good job you did on it.
  21. Interesting. Topoleetle or Beetolino?
  22. #1 - '67 Gran Prix Covertible #2 - '67 Impala 4 door (yeah, that one) #3 - '59 Safari #4 - '59 Caddy - any body style #5 - '87 Buick GNX
  23. Sods law. The one time I left my laptop on site instead of taking it home the site shed got broken into and it got taken. They also took milk, crackers and the foremans lunch but overlooked a $40,000 GPS system sitting in plain sight in a LOUD yellow box. Morons. Hope you can sort out the insurance company - best of luck with them.
