What did you see on the road today?
JollySipper replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would pull that big block out of the Polara and shoehorn it into the Barracuda...... -
FACEBOOK: I couldn't have said it better...
JollySipper replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I had a FB account for a whole 3 days......... I much prefer Instagram. Been there a couple years...... They say if you don't learn something new everyday from social media, then you're following the wrong stuff........ -
Turning the '62 Thunderbird into a coupe?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I remember that build! (and the inspiration behind it) Looks really good.... Seems like that would be the most logical thing to do, seeing as how the roof from the '58 is a separate part. Scale difference shouldn't matter much..... -

I REALLY like the looks of the Starliner roof! Looks like something I'll have to look into further..... Thanks for the replies, guys.... -
Turning the '62 Thunderbird into a coupe?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, Steve........ I was thinking along the lines of just grafting a roof on to the '62 body. It wouldn't even have to be a Thunderbird roof..... I'll be building it 'mild custom', so a custom roof might would be cool. Anyone done that? if so, Please share.... -
Pioneer was top of the line in those days! Vinyl has been making a comeback lately, also.... Primus has released Brown Album on brown vinyl, and the Green Naugahyde album in green. Are you building a vintage stereo system component style, or you just have the reel player?

That's the coolest thing ever, man...... You know those older folks light up when they see him......
-
I didn't! I just painted all the trim with black after masking it all with foil....... Your tape idea sounds like a good idea, you could possibly lay it on a piece of glass and cut it in half with a straight edge.....
-
I don't have an airbrush set up..... not yet anyway. When I painted the Turbo Coupe, I just used all DupliColor products that I normally use. They didn't react with the Monogram red plastic. For some reason, this kit is being difficult to cover.......
-
Mike, this looks really good! When I built mine, the only problem I had was the headlights....... DupliColor makes a clear they call "1K clear". It's in a large can...... It's kinda 'hot' but shines really nice. May be worth trying on something scrap.....

Hey, Mike man..... I believe I'm gonna have to get some enamel paints to use on this one.... The lacquers I've tried to spray it with aren't working well with the red plastic this is molded in. I'm gonna build it, just need to get that enamel for it.....

Another old build from about '96. The 1/16 Revell/Fujimi Porsche 959
JollySipper replied to Mike C's topic in Model Cars
These were beyond a 'sports car', they were Porsche's first Super Car..... This is an excellent build, I've been wanting one of these kits for a while... -
And the academy award for best soundtrack goes to…

I guess it's better than making "vroom vroom" noises yourself while driving one of the EVs..... -
We really need a love button, man...... I'm really diggin this one! Is it resin?

They're called the Greatest Generation for a reason, man...... The main ones who don't talk about their time in the Service are the Vietnam Vets. I guess because they were treated so poorly when they returned home.....

I've always gotten along really well with people who were/are much older than me. I guess that's because I'm an old soul, myself. I used to talk to the guy that lived next to me all the time. He's passed on now..... He always had stories to tell, you know how that goes. One that he enjoyed telling a lot was how his parents got married. His Dad was courting his Mom, but her parents didn't agree with it. They wanted to get married any way...... He told her to tie a string around her toe so he could pull on it to wake her up, then they ran off together and "eloped". I used to think of that, 'times were very much different then'....... Another he told me once was that his Dad said to him, "I'll never understand this younger generation. Y'all do your cooking outside and use the bathroom in your house!" Anyone have some stories from the "good ol' days" that you remember hearing from someone older?

Thanks, Fellas! I just wish I had a better camera....... This looks a little better in person. About the license plate on the front.... There's an ejector tab on the very delicate headlight bar. I didn't want to risk breaking the bar, so I just left the tab and attached the plate to it......
-
Cool! I'm glad you guys are enjoying it.....

Thank you guys for the comments..... I've put this Under Glass for those who care to see it! That is just a quick blast of Tamiya clear blue over the kit chrome.......
-
I worked pretty steady on this the past couple of days and managed to finish up with it..... This is a nice kit, although a bit fiddly in places. I painted the body with DupliColor bronze wheel coating and cleared it with their 1K clear. I wanted a kinda neo-traditional hot rod, so I chose colors that I thought would bring it up to current times and trends..... There's a WIP in the proper section, thank you to those that followed the build up..... Anyways, that's it for this one! Thanks for looking and comment freely......
-
Carl, they say that hard work builds character, and I'm quite the character........ so there you go.
-
Well, it's coming together, guys! This is quite the fiddly kit if you want the full-fender version.... I still have to add all the small chrome bits like lights and handles.... Thanks for looking in, fellas! The next update on this will most likely be Under Glass....
