  1. I've been steady at it for a couple of days..... I've almost completed the interior. Still need to paint the front seats. The tan is vinyl dye from DupliColor, the carpet and "woodgrain" stuff is craft paint.... Also pretty much done with the chassis..... Still need the rear wheels attached. I wanted a color that would look kinda stock but not, I ended up with Deep Jewel Green Metallic. Hopefully I'll be able to get a better finish on the body than I did on the floor pan.... That's where we are today! Hopefully the nice weather we've been having here will last a while longer and I can get the body painted up in the next few days..... Thanks for looking, and comment freely....
  2. Thanks, Mike and Tom! The top is in a permanent "open" position since it's been soaked in diluted glue.... I had planned to just attach it to the roof, it should look the part just fine......
  3. Got a little more progress on this....... The body and associated parts are in final primer. This is Rustoleum 2X gray primer, it will make a really good foundation for the DupliColor I plan on using.... Thanks for looking in, and please do comment!
  4. I am hoping to get some green in a few days from O'Reillys..... I need to swing by there and pick up some clear any way. The interior will most likely be various shades of tan and brown......
  5. Here's how things are looking with the folding top! I think it's gonna work out pretty well...... I'll do a little clean up here, then it's on to primer! Thanks, and comment freely....
  6. JC, you're a Primus fan, man.... There's a line in one of their songs (The Air is Getting Slippery) where they mention PF..... "The dogs are barking merrily as Jerry sets on high, If you studied your Floyd properly you'd know that pigs could fly"......
  7. Those classic Minis are excellent... (especially the purple one!) I really like the white car with the "400" graphics and the racing lamps. What would it be?
  8. Sounds real good! Be sure to keep us up with your progress. So, I'll be going with the DZs in the wide white tires. It may seem more custom than lowrider, but since I like kustoms too, it's all good! I've made just a little progress worth showing, got the front subframe painted. Mainly I've been scribing panel lines and trying to define the window trim for foil later. Also, I'm toying with the idea of a folding rag top. Anyone done one that they could show? or at least tell me if this looks like a good idea? I may try to find a better fabric for the top.... this is just a piece of bed linen soaked in diluted Elmer's glue. Naturally I would weather it a bit for a more realistic look..... I think I've decided on green for the body. I'll be picking that up next week from the auto parts store...... That's what I have today..... Feel free to comment, and tell me what you think of the top idea......
  9. I read somewhere that Syd wanted to add saxophone and chorus arrangements to their songs..... After he left the band, that's what they did. I always felt that they wished Syd was still a member. Those later albums were pretty much written to Syd, or what he would have wanted the music to sound like..... Kind of in his honor/remembrance.....
  10. Here it is with some DZs in the tires that come with the Lancer wheel covers.... These look much better to me......
  11. I feel you, man... I'm not crazy about these either. It makes it look more custom than lowrider... I have another set of spoke wheels I'll try today, we'll see how they might work out.......
  12. That color...... I bet that this would look really good with silver or gray graphics, maybe with a little yellow, like gray stripes with a yellow outline.
  13. I believe I've got the ride height where I like it.... I had to use a different wheel/tire combo, as the spokes had too small a tire and the front suspension was bottomed out. These wheels allow for some lowering without the lower control arms being on the ground. These flippers give the mock-up a little different vibe, but I think they look good.... What do you guys think? Are these wheels a winner? Thanks, and comment freely......
  14. The long 'jam' before the whale song part is THE BEST PF music on any album.... On the song 'Comfortably Numb', you guys ever give much thought to how different the two guitar solos are? One is before the Doc administers his meds, one is after...... It's like the first one is a little hopeful and bright, the second one is more brooding and dark.
  15. Yea, Les changed the two lines that include the phrase "which one's Pink?". Instead, he mentions what I believe to be an alias that he brings up on Frizzle Fry at the end of "Groundhog's Day".....
  16. JC, I'm sure you've heard this..... Primus doing "Have a Cigar". and it just so happens that I got a Floyd T-shirt the other day!
  17. No one's gonna read that sign, though.... what with the "read less" movement going on......
  18. I've built a model of my Dad's Charger. Here's a pic from the day he got it....... and here's the model of it I built for him.... It's not exact, but he was happy with it....
  19. Here's an acoustic version of my favorite Stone Temple Pilots song..... It's on the 2019 remaster of the Purple album.
  20. I've seen your scratch built frames, man, you wouldn't have any trouble lowering this one.... ALL the suspension bits are separate pieces. I'll even be able to use the kits rear shocks!
  21. Today I've been working on making some wheel backs. I've turned the parts on the left into the parts on the right. Also I've been trying to see how this is gonna sit at the stock height. I needed to do this to see how much I want to lower it. The rear will be easy to lower, since the axle sits on top of the leafs and they are separate pieces. Looking at the front suspension, I could just flip the spindles, but that results in a bunch of negative camber, so I may have to make some spindles. So, this is how it sits at the stock height, next we'll see what some blocks for the rear and new spindles will do... That's progress up to today! Please comment if you'd like.....
  22. Jolly Sipper is something of an alter ego I came up with in High School.... I thought up the idea of a band name, which was 'Jolly Sipper's Bottling Company', or JSBCo.... In philosophy, thoughts are thought to be like water (or wine), you can tread or drown in..... or just sitting back sippin'......
  23. Got this really cool T-shirt today....
  24. Just wanted you guys to see the progress on the engine. I've put a couple pins in the proper places so I can route the heater hoses to them..... Here's where it is at now. I used real engine enamel for the block...... That's where I am today, just needing to paint what's left of the engine assembly and finish it up.... Next I need to get on the suspension to set the ride height where I want it. That will be the next task, which with this kit and the way the suspension is designed, it will be easy to get it lowered...... Thanks for the interest, and feel free to comment!
  25. I've just now learned about them...... What's a good album to start catching up with them with?
