Acceptance of 3D printed models?
JollySipper replied to jdhog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a model 'kit' that was 3D printed...... At the time it was the only way to get one of the subject that looked decent. I couldn't be happier with it! I plan on building it just like I would a plastic kit, only not with tube glue. -

Simple vinyl look for interiors.
JollySipper replied to Sledsel's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I like using vinyl dye for interiors! I've used it on a few now...... It does have just the right shine to it! It looks and works better if you prime first..... -

Guys! You're never gonna believe this! Well, you might since I have pics..... I was able to add this kit to the to-do pile over the weekend! I ordered it Thursday and got it today, Tues. The release I have here is actually from Imai, but it's the same as the Bandai/Entex kit..... Complete with decals and instructions, still in it's bags! I can die now and feel complete, though I'd like to build the thing first.....

What did you see on the road today?
JollySipper replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All the exotics you've listed as seeing, and probably see those types of cars on the daily, and the high point of your day was an old station wagon! That's pretty cool...... Means you're a well-rounded car guy. -

Revell 1971 Mustang Mach 1 in stock now at...
JollySipper replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is anyone looking into using Keith Marks' decals for the full Mach 1 treatment? I know they were designed for an old kit, but I'm wondering how well they would work on this new kit..... A deep burgundy with silver stripes would be pretty. -
Hey, guys! I think I might have a little tip here that may be of use to some..... It's my spray method for painting bodies! I've got a technique, as we all do, and it's kind of been practiced enough that I can get good results pretty much every time. What I do that may be different than some is to spray my passes from the lower parts up. I'll mount the body on something that I can maneuver it with, usually a plastic cup. I spray the front grille/headlight area first, then rotate the body to one side. I'll spray each side, laying the passes like you would be laying shingles, from the bottom up......... Once both sides are coated, I tilt the body towards me and spray the trunk, roof, and front fender tops, again working up from the bottom (trunk). One benefit to using this method is, if you get a run in the paint, you won't be adding to the run by spraying more paint on to it as it runs down! Working up from a run keeps it from getting worse..... Also, spraying the tops last keeps the overspray from the sides landing on it..... Anyways, I hope my 'shingle pattern' spray method makes sense, and will hopefully help some of those trying to hone their paint skills.........
