  1. Thanks Dann. Well it's perhaps one of the worst fitting and vaguest set of instructions, also flash on the sprues and very heavy chroming. I wouldn't want to do one again.
  2. Cheers Dan. I hope to get the windows in today.
  3. The wheels tyres are now fitted after finishing the suspension. I have test fitted the body and it looks low at the back so that is as a tarmac set up as the tyres in the kit are slicks! The ESCI kit had treaded tyres and sat higher on the suspension. The steering works a treat. No rear mudflaps are supplied but shown on the box art so I may make some.
  4. Well Dann thanks for the info, but I hadn't seen your ideas until I'd done the job! I did a test first with the chrome spray and it didn't leave any residue. So I used the Tamiya Masking Tape, It did leave a very slight mark in two places so I polished it out! I started in the middle as it lined up straight way and then the front and rear as there was a few centimetres gap, but it worked out OK. But now we have another test, fitting the widows to the roof before we fit the roof to the body. The next picture I found on another site and it shows just the front screen fitted!
  5. Hopefully yes espo!
  6. I see a new Revell kit out, here in the UK today. A 1/25 version of the Lightning McQueen! Although a Snap type kit it has a fully detailed Nascar chassis and V8 motor, just right for Christmas, well for me anyway Ho Ho Ho! Priced at £25!
  7. These these comments to do with my build?
  8. I've got the wheels on! Having completely rebuilt the front axle/suspension with spare bits of plastic and got the brakes on., and at the back just used plastic bits to brace the flimsy kit parts (not a pretty sight). The problem at the back is that the top mounts for the axle/suspension are on a separate inner moulding that needs to be attached inside the bottom body moulding and makes that very difficult to attach the parts through the wheel arches. The interesting bit is now fitting the body top all round without wrecking the paint!
  9. Cheers Dann. I did a bit of work on the underside yesterday, Exhaust, propshaft, suspension, back axle..... Rear springs and control bars to go on. The exhaust was broken on the sprue and is very thin, so I took the copper core out of some old electrical wiring and joined the two parts of the exhaust that were broken. I also painted a bit of mud and rust on as well. Oh the propshaft was too short so did the same to connect it up with the gearbox but used plastic tube.
  10. Thanks guys. Which are we talking about? This one or the Ken Block Hoonigan that I built with the clear bodyshell?
  11. Thanks guys. The clear shell I've used earlier in the Ken Block Hoonigan car. That was the ESCI one from 1992. This white shell is far better in the detail department. Yes I'm pleased with the old British Airways decals, they laid up superbly well, plus a coat of Plasti-Kote gloss clear. The interior detail on this is good too. The rollcage fitted first time out, which can be a pain with some makes. Yes I've used the Gedeo white plaster for race/bomber seats and surfboards. I have the clear waiting in the box but haven't got round to using it as yet.
  12. Cheers JC. Here's today's work.... rollcage fitted, then shave a bit off each side of the dash, so it slides in between the door cards........ Test fit in the bodyshell..............
  13. A little progress, the engine complete adding fine tubing as plug leads and 'bluing' the exhaust manifold to show heat from engine. Also added engine to floorpan and small interior items, seats, seatbelt decals (used my own as kit ones are black and wouldn't be seen ) plus handbrake, gear stick fire extinguishers and pedals. Instructions suggest these are to be fitted after the rollcage which is the wrong way round.
  14. Cheers Dann. I'm trying to sort out the rear suspension, the axle they supply is too short, the upright on one side is completely vertical but the otherside wants to be upright but at 45 degrees! The problem is that both front and back suspension and steering are very thin and flimsy with poor locations. EG pins and holes on the instructions but not on the parts and excessive chrome plating, in fact I'v had to dip all plating in oven cleaner and take it off due to difficulty removing plating from very small contact points.
  15. Thanks guys. The prices here for kits like this are pretty high, import is about $28+ plus the price of the kit itself!
  16. The kit.................... The build starts....................
  17. Thanks guys.
  18. I bought this..... But resurrected the decals from the ESCI 1992 Ford Escort MK2 'Clear' bodied kit..... And so far.............................
  19. Cheers Dann.
  20. Thanks Jim B. Yes as a 1/72 scale the wing length is longer that some of my 1/48 scale planes!
  21. Yes cobraman, but I haven't mastered that type of dio as yet.
  22. Initially a postal service with just 4 seats and pilot and co- pilot, 1920 era. The decals are not very transparent having a greyish background.
  23. Thanks for your info David. I started out as an accounting clerk in a small practice. That was difficult as father and brother were engineers. Went onto the original TSB Bank and made it up to Branch Manager and made redundant after 24 years (at 42)when Lloyds Bank took over all managers and assistant managers had to go (1500+). Had four more permanent and numerous Temp Jobs, as a 42 year old is too old for any job as I was constantly told. 3 more redundancies later joined the Open University as a warehouseman driving vans to and from the Campus, fork-lifts and pickers up to 35 feet! Thats where I finished at 64. Now hoping to downsize housewise as both sons have gone, one to Canada and one nearby in Milton Keynes. So looking to design and build a two bed bungalow (future proofing) in a timber frame construction utilising SIPS panels and under floor heating, no internal ceilings, all rooms open to the pitched roof, open plan lounge/diner/kitchen, master bedroom with en-suite,family bathroom, heat source pump, and solar panels to cover all energy needs! One big problem the price of land maybe twice the price of the build, but we battle on!
  24. Superb Martin, the concept fits together well!
