Thanks afx. I'll keep them in mind.

Thanks Andre. No the dirt tyres although well treaded are narrower to cut through the muck on the muddy/gravel stages. The slicks are much wider for better grip on the tarmac.
-
Thanks Kevin, yes a nice well fitting and well made kit. Being in the UK and Italy not far off we see a lot of the Italeri kits and they are generally very good quality and well priced. This was about £25.

Just from the WIP section........... Decals from 1992 ESCI kit of the same car........ The car depicts a tarmac set up with lowered suspension and slick tyres (all in kit)............
-
Thanks Ray. No I hadn't seen one built, but I did a Google image search and found just a few.

All done! Super kit nice fit. Just fitted non-standard Dunlop tyre decals, tyre painting on competition cars/bikes started by the tyre companies years later....

Thanks guys. I had a long search for one here in the UK, and as you can I finally found one. There are quite a few here now but there are huge price differences between dealers.

Thanks Richard, just put it on here.

Ghosn arrested for securities fraud

It amazes me when the heads of these huge companies across the world get millions in salary and bonuses each year however badly the companies are run/perform/ go into the red, the bosses have to have their hands even deeper in the till! We've had a few here recently who've run major retail groups, they've not only given themselves huge salaries and bonuses when the companies are going under, but also stolen the workers pension funds as well. So once they go bust the ex-staff have nothing to live on after 30-40 years service. But nothing gets done because these crooks have the rich and famous in the government as friends who are also less than honest! To them we are just cannon fodder for their dishonesty! -
Thanks Dann, but the TV series was American, so the car is left hand drive.

Well after a long day at the coal face I've finished it! The drivers door and the engine don't fit tight, although the passenger door does! The engine lid doesn't close because one of the turbo's stands high although touching the top of the engine. The windows/doors were far easier to fit than I imagined with both doors opening all the way up.
-
Thanks Dann. Well it's perhaps one of the worst fitting and vaguest set of instructions, also flash on the sprues and very heavy chroming. I wouldn't want to do one again.
-
Cheers Dan. I hope to get the windows in today.

The wheels tyres are now fitted after finishing the suspension. I have test fitted the body and it looks low at the back so that is as a tarmac set up as the tyres in the kit are slicks! The ESCI kit had treaded tyres and sat higher on the suspension. The steering works a treat. No rear mudflaps are supplied but shown on the box art so I may make some.

Well Dann thanks for the info, but I hadn't seen your ideas until I'd done the job! I did a test first with the chrome spray and it didn't leave any residue. So I used the Tamiya Masking Tape, It did leave a very slight mark in two places so I polished it out! I started in the middle as it lined up straight way and then the front and rear as there was a few centimetres gap, but it worked out OK. But now we have another test, fitting the widows to the roof before we fit the roof to the body. The next picture I found on another site and it shows just the front screen fitted!

Hopefully yes espo!

I see a new Revell kit out, here in the UK today. A 1/25 version of the Lightning McQueen! Although a Snap type kit it has a fully detailed Nascar chassis and V8 motor, just right for Christmas, well for me anyway Ho Ho Ho! Priced at £25!

These these comments to do with my build?

I've got the wheels on! Having completely rebuilt the front axle/suspension with spare bits of plastic and got the brakes on., and at the back just used plastic bits to brace the flimsy kit parts (not a pretty sight). The problem at the back is that the top mounts for the axle/suspension are on a separate inner moulding that needs to be attached inside the bottom body moulding and makes that very difficult to attach the parts through the wheel arches. The interesting bit is now fitting the body top all round without wrecking the paint!

Cheers Dann. I did a bit of work on the underside yesterday, Exhaust, propshaft, suspension, back axle..... Rear springs and control bars to go on. The exhaust was broken on the sprue and is very thin, so I took the copper core out of some old electrical wiring and joined the two parts of the exhaust that were broken. I also painted a bit of mud and rust on as well. Oh the propshaft was too short so did the same to connect it up with the gearbox but used plastic tube.

Thanks guys. Which are we talking about? This one or the Ken Block Hoonigan that I built with the clear bodyshell?
-
Thanks guys. The clear shell I've used earlier in the Ken Block Hoonigan car. That was the ESCI one from 1992. This white shell is far better in the detail department. Yes I'm pleased with the old British Airways decals, they laid up superbly well, plus a coat of Plasti-Kote gloss clear. The interior detail on this is good too. The rollcage fitted first time out, which can be a pain with some makes. Yes I've used the Gedeo white plaster for race/bomber seats and surfboards. I have the clear waiting in the box but haven't got round to using it as yet.
-
Cheers JC. Here's today's work.... rollcage fitted, then shave a bit off each side of the dash, so it slides in between the door cards........ Test fit in the bodyshell..............
