In Buckingham UK coming out of our local BP filling station a Rolls Royce Cullinan 4X4, this is a magazine photo as I didn't have my camera or phone with me.................. This is known as the Black Badge model. -

Super Golf! I've used the Fujimi roof rack top boxes and mountain bikes on a few of my builds. Our eldest son who runs a haulage company out of Calgary, Canada is on his second or third R32.

Cheers Bruce. I hope your not affected too much by the forest fires!

Thanks David. Well I personally think that Tamiya offer the best Scooby kits. We see a lot of them around here as the rally base was at Prodrive at Banbury just 20 miles away!
-
Your lucky espo, we don't have any basements in our houses or apartments, you only get those here in BIG houses over £1million!
-
Otherwise thanks guys see you all soon!

Yes espo, where do you put all the 'stuff' from a 4 Bed house to a 2 bed single floor unit? I think I'll have to get planning permission to raise the roof my about 6 feet to put all the extra 'stuff' in the loft/attic!

My latest one of these is a rescue. The original owner was unknown to plastic modeling because he/she hand painted all of the underside parts whilst on the sprues and then tried to glue them onto the chassis. The problem was that all of the parts surfaces were painted so no bare plastic left to glue together. In that attempt quite a few pieces were broken. I then had to cobble together the chassis, steering, hubs, front & rear suspension, driveshafts etc. Luckily enough none of the body, glass, interior or decals were damaged. With a few of my previous Scooby builds........ And this one the 7 Up car with mostly home printed decals..... This will be my last build for a while and my wife and I after 52 years married are selling our split level house and moving to a 'future proof' bungalow one floor living! We might both be 70+ and fit we don't know what may be ahead healthwise. My major problem now is packing and transporting 300 builds!

Mounting wheelbacks: glue solid or free spin?
PatW replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I glue the wheels in place but on those kits with workable steering leave that to work. -
Paint Strippers - What to Use?
PatW replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Being in the UK, about 100% of those cleaners mentioned aren't available. I use brake fluid to get paint off and oven cleaner to get chrome off. -
Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
PatW replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not a glue bomb as such. I bought an already started from ebay and it was a Subaru Impreza WRX . The original owner had hand painted all of the under chassis parts, without leaving any bare plastic to stick it all together. So most of the drive shafts (4) and wheel backs/mounting pins were broken as was the suspension. So I shaved. scraped, filed the paint off the mounting points, remade the drive shafts and steering and cobbled it together. I'm glad that as it is a rally car and has 'bash plates' attached to the chassis so none of the working parts are damaged whilst driven on rough gravel roads, the plates being supplied in the model help holding everything together. It sits square on all four wheels which is amazing. I'm just glad that nothing else was touched, so I'm now painting/ decalling all of the interior as I go along. I thought that instructions told us not to cover any mounting points ans scrape off 'chrome' where connections are to be made with other parts. Perhaps the 'new' builders should read these instructions carefully before putting themselves off modelling because nothing sticks together! -
Another one of these at less than 1/2 price due to it being already started.... I Love the front auxiliary lamps, for night stages!

Superb finish, well done. I see these on a regular basis on TV here in the UK during the season.

Good looking kit and very good looking subject. As a race/airfield marshal at the Silverstone Circuit here in the UK (about 5 miles away!) we saw these as soon as they were announced. We ran most European and World championship races here for sports cars in that era. And yes whoever had ordered one seemed to have their own slant on various design 'issues' as there were both 'factory' and 'private' teams attempting to beat each other! As seen bodyshapes, side skirts and rear wing locations and a whole host of other idaes were used on a regular basis to get the maximum potential from each car. Superb to see racing, then and now as some are returning for classic races, sound and flames on overrun were spectacular to see and hear! I'd like to build one but as a retiree, the costs of most new kits are out of reach now.
