The ZG nose and aero bits would be fiberglass, most likely. paint the chips in those ghost grey acrylic, and wipe away the excess for weathered fiberglass.

That's looking great! Is anyone making the Pirelli P-slot wheels? I know someone that has a set on their Scion X-Box. Everyone hates him

Oh, super glue... I've glued parts to myself, and myself, to myself several times. I use mostly the cheap tubes, and once the tube squirted all over my pants, which glued them to my leg.

Why would you say that? The Making of a Hatchet Job Drawing on the testimony of a former CU employee and video-tapes made by CU of its tests of the Samurai, Suzuki showed how a “hit piece” was developed by CU editorial director Irwin Landau, who was both author and editor of the 1988 article. It charged that he set out to show that the Samurai was prone to roll over easily, endangering the lives of the occupants. CU videotapes and other evidence obtained in discovery show-ed that when the car was put through the standard “emergency avoidance” test course, it passed with no problems. This is supposed to replicate an emergency that any driver might en-counter. It involves the driver suddenly turning into the opposing lane to avoid an obstacle and quickly turning back into the original lane. The Samurai was run through the course, which had been used for 15 years, 37 times. It did not roll over once even though it was driven at a higher speed than other cars that were tested. Kevin Sheehan, a CU test driver, said the vehicle “never felt like it would tip over.” Another driver, Rick Small, gave the Samurai CU’s highest stability rating, saying it “corrects quickly” and “responds well.” Suzuki charges that at this point Landau threatened his testing staff, saying, “If you can’t find someone to roll this car, I will!” David Pittle, CU’s technical director, tried nine times to roll the car over without success. He finally succeeded in getting it to tip up by turning the car so sharply that it went off the test course. A video shows onlookers cheering and yelling, “Yeah!” One said , “I think I got that, I think I got that.” CU then decided to construct a new course that would make it easier to replicate Pittle’s successful maneuver. It was still difficult to make the vehicle tip, and CU employee Joe Nappi cried out, “All right, Ricky baby,” when test driver Rick Small finally succeeded in getting two wheels off the ground. It was after all this special effort that CU announced at a news conference that the Samurai “rolls over easily” during routine driving and was given the rating of “Not Acceptable” on the road. CU showed videotape of one of the few successful tip-up maneuvers. Suzuki charges that this was taped during another trip to the track, where the driver once again had difficulty getting two of the vehicle’s wheels off the ground. One tape shows Pittle complaining, “Can’t you just see it, we get no lift off the ground. Oh God.” After repeated attempts, however, the maneuver succeeded and the “picture-perfect” tip-up was obtained. Photos of this rare event were used repeatedly over the years to boost subscriptions and generate contributions to CU by showing how they exposed a safety hazard. From 1988 to 1996, Suzuki says, “CU sent out millions of fund-raising and subscription solicitation letters featuring the Samurai story.” http://www.aim.org/aim-report/aim-report-a-black-eye-for-consumer-reports/

Yeah, the Model T had tiny doors with the raised edge. The texture on the running boards is also stock. Fancier cars had rubbery mats over them. My dad's 33 truck's runnign baords look like this.

Toyota Celica, 1970 Nippon grand prix 2nd place car
Zarana-X replied to Zarana-X's topic in Model Cars
Thanks everyone! My parents bought a 1972 new from the dealer, so I pretty much grew up in one. (Along with a '33 Ford hot rod pick up) We had it till 1988 when it was t-boned by, on my side, by some fool running a stop sign. Drove fine, but it was totaled. We drove it for another three months, then sold it after the insurance paid it off. I thought you guys would be adult enough not to giggle about the name, though... -

I can never remember how many photos you can put in one post, so here's more. I think I need to go back and fix that mirror Here's the interior while under construction. -
This is a Hasegawa kit, it comes with the decals to build the 1st, and 2nd place cars. 1st place was orange and white, 2nd place was grey and white. I could't find any photos other than the box for reference, so I painted it silver, but the instructions say battleship grey... I've seen several 1st place cars, but never the 2nd, so I decided to try it. The kit basically gives you a stock car body you have to modify, which includes drilling and fitting the gas cap, shaving emblems, cutting out the wheel arches to fit the flares, modifying the bumpers, etc. I had to re-do a few things because I missed some call outs on the instruction sheet. More my fault then theirs, and the instructions are multi-lingual. This is also my first time using tire decals, kit supplied Oh, the days of 3-point roll cages. Adding a driver adds an element of fun and realism frustration and aggravation to any build! Driver is from the Fujimi Drivers set and took some work to fit satisfactory.

Looking great. A rare beast, can't remember the last time I saw on in the wild. The only ones that show up with any regularity are second gens.

HECKUVA DEAL! SR20DET swap

Congrats on the engine! Don't be so quick to junk that 240SX, though. This was a Junked Silvia: -
Looking good so far!

The blue engine Honda looks like a dye pack or two 'sploded in the engine bay.

Looks great! These are spectacular cars, and you can't go wrong with a Hasegawa kit. BTW, the convertible/James Bond kit was MPC, and from what I've read is a fairly horrible kit...Only issued once I believe. Just noticed this post was necroed from 2011! D'oh!

What did you see on the road today?
Zarana-X replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Keeps the weight on the trailer's tires. If it was over the 5th wheel with nothing else on the trailer it would get wonky, especially backing up. -
You're doing good work, but I don't see the point in the engine swap unless you're building a drag car. And even then
