Great work. I like weird stuff like this. As a teenager, I had a 65 Mustang like this, it was made by Bandai. I have the windows and wheels, I think I wrecked the rest, it was motorized.

Sorry, I've been busy.

Looks great. What's the signifigance of the pig? I've seen it in NFS:Prostreet and Forza. Is it just a cute animal?

Fantastic job.

I took some outdoor-sunlight pics. They look a little better.

Anyone else still working on theirs? I've finished the engine, I think. Interior is almost done. The valve cover looked better in person. I tried it without masking the plug cover-majig. I think I need to get one of those magnifiying visor things.

Body looks great. I don't like Corvettes in general, but I like the weird custom ones like this and Corvette Summer. I think I just may have questionable taste .

Carburetors for V8 engines
Zarana-X replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My understanding, is carbs work like a toilet. Flush it, and the water goes down. But, you can also flush it and pour an extra bucket of water in it at the same time, and it still goes down. What I never got though, was 10 carbs on a V8, like on the Munster Coach. -
I can't answer most of those questions, but Tamiya makes great kits. If you can find any dates on the kit, or instructions, that would probably be the year. Tamiya usually gets these pretty close to the car's actual release. The only trouble I'e ever had was some bad decals in a re-release of the Countach LP500s. Personally out of the two, I'd get the RX-7, but that's just me. On this though, "Also on the Tamiya pictures of the 350z, they show a big section of the chassis in Silver. This is on a model of a silver car. Is that supposed to be body color, or was it silver or metal on all colors of cars?" - On modern cars, then entire body, including the bottom is painted. On older cars, you would till see primer and the body color as overspray. I'm not sure on the transition, but I would guesstimate early '90's.

Looks fantastic. I'm building the stock version. Never seen the racecar version.

I like the body on yours better than the converted bus body you used for reference. I think the bed overhang off the rear looks a bit off, too. Maybe lengthen the frame, and Z it in front of the cab?

If you didn't destroy the headlight buckets you cut out, I'd suggest using those, and build the nose around them. What you showed looks too narrow to me.

The Aoishima 720s are right hand drive.

Made some pretty good progress on the '93 Supra. This is the newest car I've ever built. + Painted the shocks, swaybars and control arms Eibach blue. Had to shave the hubs on all the wheels, then shave the steering knuckles AND the hubs on the front rotors to make the tires clear.

Few more shots.

Finished the Datsun. It gave me more issues than I care for. The decals didn't adhere well, so I used Future to make them stick. Then the chassis wouldn't sit flush, because the interior was hitting the windows. So, I had to clearance the windshield, and the tab that held the interior tub to the body, in order for the chassis to sit flush. And I broke the shocks and spare tire off during my repeated test fittings. Save yourself some trouble, and just cut off the locating pin for the windows and interior tub. Then shave off the tab for the tub. I also had to shave down the windshield because it was hitting the dashboard. All of these were making the floor of the chassis stick out past the bottom of the body. I got it where it sits flush. Glad I spent the extra time to detail the Datsun script on the grille , also added a radiator. You cant see it, but there's an opening behind the bumper, if I didn't add it, you would see the fan. You can sorta see the Datsun script here. The holes in the skid plate should be actual holes, but its a mounting point on th emodel, otherwise I would've opened them up. Distributorless engine, not really enough room to add one, either. I did add a carburator, but you can't see it anyway. Added a rearview mirror. Replaced blob with an actual spare tire. (yeah, I know it has lugnuts in it still, I'm not that good) and added shocks. For whatever reason, there's a pretty big gap behind the cab, and roll bar, so I made it a double tube to fill in the gap. Added the license plate from the original release. The taillights are molded into the body, that's one of my bugaboos. Tried to shade them, but I have mixed feelings how it turned out.

Cal-Look Bug - Back Again! 2015.5.20
Zarana-X replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in WIP: Model Cars
What color did you use on the body? It's giving me flashbacks! I remember a lot of 80's cars this color. Although, In' my entire life, I've never seen a flower vase in person, only in photos. -
Post your oldest model picture

These are scans from 110 (?) It was the flat, long camera that produced 4 inch square pictures, anyway. This is about 1985, when I started making Road Warrior inspired models. I set up a diorama in the backyard and took blurry photos. Fujimi Mad Police Destroyer, and a Monogram(?) Plymout Sattelite Female figure from the Destroyer, and 1/32 funny car drivers I used for short people Revell Captain Hook wrecker Revell Toyota 4x4 with 4 different paintjobs submerged in a stream. Better shot of the Sattelite. I bought a 1/35 Tamiya weapons pack and glued weapons on it. The hood scoops are seat risers from an AMT Ford Van. Woman from the Destroyer Out of all of this, only the Destroyer survives and has since been restored, with different decals. -
Fantastic start. Shame the kit doesn't have the correct snowflake wheels for a GTI.
