  1. Nice chop! Do you have a build thread on this? I'd love to see how you did it. Also, I really like the paint combo.
  2. I realize I'm pretty late chiming in here, but I have to say that that paint is gorgeous. Also, you've got a lot of nice eye candy in the detailing. A couple of things have me scratching my head, though: The backward wishbone trailing arms on the rear suspension don't seem mechanically feasible and your master cylinder is upside down.
  3. I've always loved the JPS paint scheme, and you have seriously done it justice here. That black looks as smooth as glass.
  4. I feel I must relinquish my championship status to you, Bill.
  5. Nice color, nice finish, nice foil work and a nice clean build. The panel lines, however, look just a tad over done to me; maybe its just the camera.
  6. How 'bout this? Oh, and it floats too.
  7. Some very nice, seldom seen cars there, and nice photography. Thanks for all the detail shots of the Blower Bentley; They will be most helpful for what has become my longest running project to date.
  8. Met up with some of my coworkers in Olde Town Fort Collins, CO to check out some nice cars: Everything from European sports cars to classic American iron, and rods to resto's. Here is a sampling of what was there. You can check out the rest here: http://s1103.photobucket.com/user/johannv/library/Fort%20Collins%20Car%20show
  9. I happened to have my camera with me while relaxing in a sidewalk cafe in Fort Collins, yesterday...
  10. I love that '46 Merc'. I have plans to build one using the IMC '48 ford convertible.
  11. Not quite up the the "standards" of the other posts here but I found it interesting:
  12. I like this... a lot. The lack of fussy detail goes completely unnoticed with a model this cleanly built. The finishes and the overall "vibe" are just so right. Bravo!
  13. It's a toss up for me, between cutting oil in the machine shop and putting a piece of spruce through the drum sander.
  14. Gorgeous color, nice detail painting in the engine bay and superb foil work. I'd say you've got a winner here.
  15. I'm surprised this one hasn't been mentioned yet: Thin down the exposed edges of panels such as wheel wells, hoods and the body perimeter under the car. You don't need (or want) to thin the entire panel; just the edge, then taper it back to full thickness. Bear in mind that these edges are usually rolled on opening panels such as hoods, or flanged to provide attachment points, as on wheel openings. Another "reality booster" is underside detail on hoods and trunks, and it's fairly easy to do: Start by covering the panel with a couple layers of masking tape. Then sketch an appropriate pattern on the tape, peel it off and lay it down on some .005" or .010" styrene sheet and cut around your pattern. In the example above, I laid .010" sheet over .005" which was cut slightly wider to create the stamped look.
  16. Very nice. Based on the side louvers on the engine cover though, I believe that's a Chevy. I built the same kit, box stock, a while ago:
  17. Amazing transformation!
  18. This is shaping up quite nicely. The interior is absolutely stunning; you have a good eye for color combinations.
  19. My daughter, being an artist, gets a lot of offers for opportunities to "gain experience" by doing artwork for free. She tells them that since she's been doing this since she was five years old (and I can attest to that), she feels she has enough experience and would prefer money.
  20. You need to make the album 'public'. Right now it comes up "password required".
  21. Very nice! It looks like you've added quite a lot of detail in the plumbing and wiring. The shocks look custom made too. I have this kit, so I'd be grateful to know if you had any problems with it.
  22. Chris, your shading and weathering techniques make me think you've spent some time in the AFV modeling community. That's a compliment, by the way.
  23. wow! Yeah, the color on the DeSoto is gorgeous, but what really caught my attention is the bright work. Is that BMF, Alclad or a combination of the two? The detailing in the side molding is fantastic. I cant imagine how one would do that with foil. Then again, the quality of your work generally does strain my imagination. As for the 60mm macro lens you're considering; while I don't have any experience with that particular lens, I would suggest looking at Tamron. They're 20-30% cheaper than Canon, with equal (and sometimes superior) quality.
