  1. My favorite has to be the '50 Chevy, but your "lucky 13" looks like you really put your heart and soul (and a lot of body work) into it.

I really enjoy what you've been doing with these old show rods. Traditionally, these have not been taken seriously by more advanced modelers, but you have demonstrated that with skill and imagination they can be made worthy subjects. Even the meanest raw material can become art in the hands of a true craftsman.
  3. I, too, love the Cord. That looks like a very nice casting in terms of fit and proportion. Did it require much clean up to get that glass smooth finish? The Lambo' is nice as well, but just doesn't have the character of the the Cord. Nice photo's of both.
  4. Who makes the '41 GMC? I've been looking for an old Cab-over for a tribute project.
  5. Try some "Mr. Dissolved Putty" from Gunze, applied with a piece of foam packing material. You can vary the texture by using different densities of foam or using repeated applications. I used it for the cast texture on this Bentley axle housing: Bear in mind that this is 1:12 scale, so it would read as much coarser in 1:25.
  6. Yes, use it. To do anything else dishonors the maker, disparages the intent and devalues the object. If I made a tool, the greatest honor anyone could do me would be to use that tool for its intended purpose a hundred years from now. I have a large collection of 18th century woodworking tools and they all get used regularly. Collectors hate me.
  7. I have taken the liberty of editing your decals to make them "forum appropriate"
  8. Very nice! But what is this concept of finishing all about. I'm not familiar with it .
  9. Now that brings back memories. The decals are perfect. Nice job!
  10. This is outstanding, Blair. The engine and chassis are beautiful, well researched and thoroughly thought out. That engine looks like you could fire it up and drive it. I love the generator wiring, except that you forgot the field wire (it should attach to the side of the generator housing near the back). Now for the "but": I think the body paint lets this build down. The metal flake looks out of scale to me. This may just be how the camera translates the finish and it may look totally awesome in person. Also, I have never been a fan of metal flake anyway, so it might just be my personal bias.
  11. Getting an early start on the Christmas shopping this year, Jesse?
  12. Kind of ironic to find this one again. I just picked one of these up in a trade with Jordan191, for some Aerotech pieces. This really came out nice, especially considering the mess you started with. The short shot repair is completely invisible on the finished product. Nice save! By the way, where do you get your figures from? I seem to have trouble finding generic figures in 1:24/25 scale, other than slutty vixens and barrio bashers.
  13. Darn, I'm too slow. I picked up two RR glue bombs with just such a project in mind. But given your level of talent, I think I'll enjoy watching this come together anyway. Besides, you can never have too many rat rods, right.
  14. You are clearly a man of few words, Safak, but your results speak volumes about talent, skill and imagination. In short: I like it!
  15. You're making a lot of "woody" fans very happy, myself included. I'm looking forward to seeing just how you incorporate the veneer, as I have a similar plan in mind for a '48.
  16. For kits it's eBay. No matter how obscure the subject, somebody has it there. I also find occasional deals at the local antique mall. I get most of my supplies from my, very good, LHS and from Micro Mark. For anything specific, I go wherever I can find it.
  17. Nice train layout. My cousin has a 500 square foot layout that his father started fifty years ago, and he's just kept adding on to it. As for me, trains are about the only thing I don't build. My reintroduction to the hobby was through my daughters interest in WWII aircraft. From there I started building armor, then WWI aircraft. Cars are the majority of what I build now, but I have taken an interest in golden era racing planes and experimental aircraft lately.
  18. Adam, P.M. me with your address. I have two of these kits and plan on building one as a short tail version, so I can send the long tail section to you.
  19. Holly cow! Where did you get that giant match stick!?! Seriously, that's some very convincing weathering. I hope you are able to share your techniques in the Tips and Tricks section. I would love to be able to achieve this level of realism.
  20. Glad to see this is still alive. I really do intend to contribute...really .
  21. I'm so happy this CBP has been extended indefinitely; That's a deadline I might be able to manage . So, since I'm still in this, here's what I have managed to accomplish: In my typical style of defying convention, I started at the rear. I've added some detail to the underside of the trunk lid and frenched the license plate. And a little lower down, I modified the rear end from Revell's Tommy Ivo showboat and added some RB Motion coil overs. Next, in defiance of my own defiance , I moved up to the front end and opened up the grilles. I've also started modifying the frame to accommodate some monster pro street tires from SMBC out back and a more modern suspension up front. Incidentally, the front suspension is one of the peeves I have with this kit. One of the major innovations and selling points of the '39 Chevy was the "knee action" front suspension yet the kit has a solid front axle set up. More updates as they (slowly) happen.
  22. Any questions you had regarding your skills should be well and truly resolved now. You've done an admirable job on a problematic kit.
  23. I love this. Creative use of those leftover bits and nice application of authentic materials. This gets my nomination for MCM model of the year. (if there were such a thing...HINT)
  24. VICTORY! Beautifully done, sir.
  25. Oh, I don't dispute that they make beautiful music. They just aren't visually well integrated, in my opinion.
