Wow! It looks like a whole 'nother animal in that paint scheme; I like it.

Looking good. Before buttoning things up, try a black or sepia wash on the undercarriage; This will help conceal any minor imperfections in the delineation between the frame and floor pan.

Good color choice. This body style really looks best in a rich, dark tone such as you have chosen. If you're interested, I have several high resolution detail pictures of '41s that I shot at various car shows. I'm happy to share. In the mean time, keep having fun and building those skills.

Thanks, Steve.

Not a gasser fan, but the clean build and the color scheme make me like this one. Maybe it's because it reminds me of the John Player Specials; I still think they were the prettiest cars on the F1 circuit.

Nice clean build, beautiful color combo', and the most visually successful use of gold trim that I've ever seen. I like this. By the way, what kit is this?

Wow! this is like a roadside rescue museum. There are a few mechanisms here that I was totally unfamiliar with, before now. Judging from your obvious knowledge and your screen name; I assume these are the tools of your trade.

Very impressive for a youngster. The interior looks remarkably like that of my older sister's boyfriends van, back in the '70s. Rather than be repetitive, I'll just say I echo the sentiments already expressed. Regarding clear coat, I would suggest Future as that would be the least reactive of the available alternatives.

Status Update: Model Cars #201
Shardik replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I second this motion. I, for one, would definitely be on board with making a contribution to keep my favorite magazine in production. I would not be surprised to find a significant number of other forum members to be equally enthusiastic about the idea. -
Revell Midgets - all gone?
Shardik replied to Jonathan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have one of each in my stash. I picked them up specifically as starting points to replicate the cars my Grandfather built back in the late '40s and early '50s. My uncle drove the two on the right, while the one on the left was built for a customer. Looks like I better pick up a couple more while I still can. -

Mack, When making your own decals, you need to clear coat them before handling them. Micro Mark makes a product specifically for this but any spray can clear will work as long as you use light mist coats to build it up; too heavy and the ink will run and puddle.

I like! Your paint booth is obviously working out nicely.
-
Very creative update on this kit. And well executed.
-
NICE! Your engine detailing is very nice and the interior looks stunning. The horn wiring is an especially nice touch.
-
Very nice. It could pass for a 1:1 in a couple of those shots. I would say none of your frustrations are evident in the final product.

Words cannot express how utterly cool I think this is.

The automotive equivalent of a turducken. -
Parts count for vintage kits

Steve, I'm pretty sure you could turn a happy meal toy into a nice shelf model. -
The Grand Prix car, 1956-65!
Shardik replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for posting this, Art. When I think of Grand Prix cars, these are what I see in my minds eye.
