  1. Looking good Niko. Question for reference pic - is that a battery I see in front of the motor ?
  2. You bought your wife a cheap ring ? This is what the surgeon removed ? New licorice ? Something the cat coughed up ? Solidified diesel smoke from my neighbor's Dodge pickup ? What do I win if I'm right ?
  3. Chris - this is what happens when you use lime gummy candy instead of the plastic. Ha. They look great, but it is hard to see how smooth the surface is. I'm sure you will show us after they are primered. Looking forward to more.
  4. I just came across this build. Great job and great photography.
  5. Great stance. Very clean.
  6. I agree, the gunmetal paint looks great. I also have a ratrod to do. I love 'em.
  7. Looks great Dave. Looking forward to more updates of this build.
  8. Dave- good to hear from you. Mark your calendar for Nov. 9th - Dragfest at Bruce Larson's barn. Chris- hope all is well in AZ and looking forward to more of your funny car.
  9. Just found this post. Excellent job. Do you have any interior reference pics ?
  10. Thank you Dinky. I used part of a drive belt from an Epson 7800 inkjet printer that was being thrown out. Lately I've been struggling with the fuel lines - getting those dang fittings on the braided lines. As a break I've been working on another kit. And raking leaves.
  11. I'm curious how his printer works, too. Is the material from a 3D printer as dense as styrene, or more? Good progress Chris.
  12. Very cool. I like it.
  13. You're right John. Words can't express the feeling of the blast from two funny cars when they leave the line. For the first round we sat on the pit side in the sun. Second round we sat on the other side in the shade right by the starting line.
  14. Oh man, your wife got lipstick on the block. Hope it cleans off.
  15. http://s1311.photobucket.com/user/56ChevKRy/library/Maple%20Grove%20Oct%202013 Pics from Maple Grove yesterday. We talked to Jeg Coughlin outside his pit. Very nice guy and was not acting in a hurry to get away from the fans. He answered a couple questions I had about his car.
  16. http://s1311.photobucket.com/user/56ChevKRy/library/Maple%20Grove%20Oct%202013 Hopefully this link works to take you to the pics from yesterday. We got to talk to Jeg Coughlin outside his pit. Very nice guy. He answered my questions about his car. Did not act in a hurry to get away from fans.
  17. Excellent job. It looks great. I always liked the look of that car.
  18. Looks really good so far.
  19. It's been about 6 years since I've gone to Maple Grove to see the pros run. I went yesterday and it was great. The weather was great and the action was, too. Especially the final qualifying run of funny car when side-by-side was Courtney and John Force. Courtney ran 329 mph and 4.02 et and John ran 323 mph and 3.98 et !! It was great. The crowd went nuts. I hope some of you were there to see it, too.
  20. Excellent job. Looks great on the trailer.
  21. Time to dust off this car and get something done. The other day I got a shipment from Futurattraction which included the Wheelie Bar Housing kit and the Dragster Cockpit Controls. I am replacing the kit steering wheel with Scott's great looking piece that has separate grips which really give it the needed 3D look. But don't make the mistake I did. I made the necessary bends in the butterfly wheel and then glued on the grips. After handling it a few times to glue them on, one handle broke off from accidentally bending it back and forth a few times. The set (part # O-DCC-2) includes parts for two steering wheels and next time I will glue the grips on first, make the bends and then attach it to the steering column. The set also includes 2 brake handles with grips, 2 gas pedals, 4 smaller levers, and 4 larger levers. The wheelie bar kit looks really nice. I haven't attempted to put it together yet but I did measure some of the parts. Two straight pins are included that are .020" diameter, two brackets to be bent into shape with holes drilled, spoked wheels, and two pieces of telescoping tubing. The smaller is .032" diameter and the larger is .042" diameter (part #C-WBK-M1). I'm not sure that the spoked wheels included are correct for my '89 funny car so I will make 2 wheels out of black plastic sprue. Hopefully I will have pics to share early next week. Tomorrow I'm going to Maple Grove to see the pros make a couple qualifying attempts. Can't wait. I plan to take lots of reference pics and enjoy the fumes. HA.
  22. Beautiful work Bill. Just beautiful. Seeing it come together is great. If you had posted only a couple pics of the car once finished, we would have learned a lot less.
