  1. Don't worry... Same thing happened to me when I bought this model. Was really p/o'ed after I seen the back and realized it was curbside. You can still make this a great kit. I destroyed mine.
  2. Oh man... I can tell its Monday and late. That same link is in my favorites. My bad...
  3. I set at 100-108 F. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1342&page=7 Here is my Enzo (bottom of thread) painted with Rust-Oleum Metallic Black Enamel Spray Can. The entire thread has a lot of info you might want to check in to.
  4. I'm curious about polishing Enamel. I have a very strong love relationship with Rust-Oleum paint. I can get it to lay smooth without much aggravation. Now, I'm still looking for the "Mirror Finish" paint job. Of course I use Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear Coat. Any ideas as far as polishing enamel?
  5. Mine is an El Cheapo from Wal-Mart. Not control temp or anything. Just a simple On/Off switch. However, I would highly suggest that if you get one without a temp (cheapo) either get a Meat thermometer or find someone that has one you can use. Put your meat thermometer directly on the bottom rack (since it's the lowest part where your model will be) so you know where the temp sets. Let it set for about an hour or two so you know the dehydrator has a good time frame to warm up.
  6. Love the color!! I'm not brave enough to tackle bright colors like that. Love the backgrounds. Black has more character to me.
  7. It's a sad world we live in. Never understand why these things happen. Proves nothing other than how fragile life is.
  8. So it would not be good to use with Rust-Oleum since it's Enamel?
  9. And this is used for...? Like a polish? Do you use it after Clear Coat or does it matter?
  10. Got some paint down. Should've grabbed pictures after being stripped... But I didn't. I used Rust-Oleum Flat Black for my base (2 coats). Then used Rust-Oleum Gloss Double Coverage Gloss Black (3 coats). I'm headed in one of two ways. 1. Looking for some Drag Decals that I like on FeeBay. 2. Making my own decals. Here's the paint. Changed My Hood Setup: As of right now, the car is named "NiteMare". I'm going to be drawing out my designs later as far as decals to get some input. However, this build will be put on the back burner as I need to finish getting my supplies (styrene, motor, spare parts, wheels, etc.).
  11. Oh man thats great!!! Thanks Dale. Thanks tooltas for the link. Lemonade!! Thats great! Thanks Ace.
  12. Can't find how much it really went for. All I can find is repeated articles back in 2011. Maybe it never sold. His goal was to be entered into the World Guinness Records for Most Expensive Model, and 2 other titles that escape me. Regardless... I could see $4.7 Million being used for SO MUCH more than a 1:8 scale model car of something that you probably already have parked in your garage.
  13. Looking good. Got your exterior color picked out yet?
  14. Doesn't mean they should.
  15. Happy Birthday!! Try to keep your Work Bench clean... The Styrene Fairy likes a clean bench!
  16. Actually... They did the math and figured you could buy a dozen of the real cars. Unbelievably stupid.
  17. So this may have been posted before but if not, here it is. A 1:8 scale $4,700,000 Model Lamborghini Aventador. He's a cut from the article. Wish their was a little more on this gem. "This 1:8 version of the Lamborghini Aventador miniature is made from carbon and has gold linings and diamonds encrusted almost everywhere in its handcrafted interior and exterior, making it the world's most expensive car model. Gülpen used the original blueprints of the Italian model to create this masterpiece. After 500 hours of work and with the help of a computer modeling data, the artist developed a perfect miniature model that boasts 1/100 mm tread of solid gold, diamonds on the seats and precious gemstones." Who can top it? http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamborghini-aventador-miniature Found some more pics. http://thethrottle.thechive.com/2011/09/18/model-lambo-costs-at-least-4-7-million-dollars-14-photos/ Stright from AutoBlog.com. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/17/lamborghini-aventador-1-8-scale-model-costs-12-times-the-real-th/
  18. I'm a "None At All" type of guy. Accuracy does not play a big role in my model building. I build to suit me and how I want to build. I thinking of transposing the front end of a 2010 Mustang to the body and rear end of a Camaro. Why? Because I can!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!! But seriously, I'll sometimes check out images just to get any idea of my colors or maybe I'm not sure how the interior colors lay down. Other than that, I always freestyle.
  19. Interesting color. I like it. Got any big plans for the truck?
  20. Well... Got everything wrapped up as far as the scratch building on the body. Put it in Purple Stuff yesterday morning. Going to let it soak over the weekend and hopefully the paint will come off. If not, looks like Easy-Off will be in the near future. A lot of views and only one person has really chimed in (Thanks Dale). Any other opinions? Suggestions?
  21. So I'm curious to see the polls between how many people build box stocks versus customs. Let me know your vote and the reason why you lean towards one more than the other.
  22. Jealous I am. Been wanting an RSX Model as it was one that I put together at a young age during Revell's Failed Tuner Series. Ever since, all I can find is RSX's for way more than what I'm willing to pay considering the "lack of detail" for some of the models. Knowing what I know now, I would love to get one. Maybe some day. I love the color and darkened wheels. It is something I would expect to see driving the streets. Nice build!
