  1. Now THAT is how you write a lead up story to your CBP!
  2. That's a tough one to describe. I have an idea of the direction of where to take things, but I'm not trying to recreate a rendering or anything of that sort. Suppose that give me some freedom with the build. Basically, I want the paint to match the rough and raw attitude of the body.I'll be as surprised as anyone else on how the end result will play out.
  3. Both look great and each version seems to have some strong pionts. Question is - which one you (the builder) liked better?
  4. Some would say that the paint slinging got out of hand last night - they'd be right!
  5. Thanks so much-the resin body gives it 90% of its attitude IMO. I can't take the credit for that.
  6. Yup-you can say I have some wood under my belt. WAIT-what did I say?!? Scored the airbrush from Michael's-thank you 60% off coupon! My awesome wife bought me the compressor to go with it.
  7. Let's not set the bar too high - I might not be able to meet expectations...
  8. Thanks for the tip. I looked up the post - interesting approach, and it certainly looks great. I was thinking of going in a slightly different direction. The below is my first exploration into weathering wood - using tips from the railroad guys. Here, I used India ink, but on REAL wood for the fence. FYI - the 'Cuda was my first try with my POS Badger airbrush.

Nice - one of the better built versions of this kit that I've seen Can't wait to see what you do with it lol
  10. Really like what you're doing here - nice attention to detail. It really helps the overall look!
  11. ??? The reference pics look cool - I'd like to see someone pull off the look. Probably bee easy too, considering where you are with things.
  12. I'm going to try my hand at aged/weathered wood. Never tried (on plastic) before, but I think I can pull it off.
  13. Very realistic looking Fit. I enjoyed your twisted sense of humor as well
  14. Figured since the box was open for my Battlewagon kit bash, I might as well do some work to it. Never liked the kit stock tail lights, so work has started to change that....
  15. Broke out the Iwata and played around with some shading/highlights.....
  16. Battlewagon is back! Made some progress - laid down some primer The hood turned out OK, but still needs work...
  17. Looking good
  18. I wasn't really feeling the rounded corners, wanted to take this is a different direction. Thanks for the feedback.
  19. Pretty excited about my next build – Project: Battlewagon I’ll be kit bashing my favorite parts from the Revell ’49 Merc coupe and the Revell ’49 Merc Woody Wagon, adding a Jimmy Flintstone chopped body, and a little help from my parts box. Here’s a quick mock up of what I have so far: The stance will be pretty close to what’s in the pictures now. So far, I’ve lowered the wagon chassis by fabrication my own “drop spindles” and “lowering blocks”. Some of you may already know, the hoods from the Chopped Coupe kit are NOT a direct fit on the wagon body. To remedy this, I grafted the top half of the louvered hood from the coupe kit onto the bottom half of the hood from the wagon kit. In hindsight, probably would have been less work to rework the louvered hood, but its hard to go back after you start cutting lol. Paint will reveal how successful I was with the surgery. This build will also be victim to my new Iwata NEO air brush, I’m a Noobie with airbrushing (but not a virgin), so we’ll see how things turn out
  20. That's coming together real nice!
  21. I can’t say enough good things about this build – I like it more each time I look at it. Really impressive work.
  22. I didn't think that I have a favorite Cobra.....but there it is!
  23. Thanks for the positive feedback. The weathering hides the imperfections......the BMF really showed the wrinkles in the paint underneath. I knew I should have waited longer, but I set out a goal to build this in a week, and to have it be my last completed build of 2016. I succeeded with my goal (finished it at 9pm on 12/31/16!), but not without consequence. Extremely satisfied with the results otherwise.
  24. Looks great. The texture on the seats looks as realistic as it gets.
