Looks good -
I like it!

I don't normally quote Wikipedia, but their definition of Rat Rod is pretty close to how I feel. Too much to quote, but go check it out. Despite differences of opinion, a Rat Rod doesn't need to be rusty or have flat/matte paint.

Definitely different – probably never see another like it again! Like the idea of the CF slowing through the paint. The scaled Unicorn is the icing on the cake! Can’t help but laugh…. Reminds me of Captain Boomerang from the Suicide Squad!

Thanks my friend - got lucky here and there trying new things lol. Real happy with how its looking right now. Probably my favorite build at the moment.

Made small progress on the Battlewagon interior: Another mock up - really digging the stance - probably some of my favorite pics to date:

Thanks for the feedback! For the seats, I use diluted whit craft glue (like Elmer's) and facial tissue and left to dry. Then I shaded in the nooks and cranny's with the airbrush. Color coat after that, then more shading/highlights. Used white and tan acyclic to simulate the seat foam poking through the set tears. A light ink wash was applied to the wrinkles and left to dry. Tiny strips of real duct tape was used over the "tears". Lastly, a light treatment of Tamiya's weather kit in the areas where the seats would be used the most. I've seen other builders use this technique, so I thought I would give it a try. The end result was more aggressive than I hoped, so maybe next time I'll use paper towel instead of facial tissue. It gets fragile real fast after it gets moist... Didn't bother to try to simulate any springs of stuffing coming out - the doors won't open on this build. Most of what's there now will be hidden once the interior panels are in place, but the effect is there.

1929 Model A Roadster ArtDeco/Coachbuilt/Streamliner -DONE!

Coming along nicely! Good choice on the headlights - they really suit the look -
Yet another mock up with the wheels an tires mounted. Small fitment issue with the resin body and wheels, but that is to be expected with mismatched aftermarket parts. The kit stock brake backing plates are pushing out the wheels too far. They will need to be modified and/or removed to get the wheels to fit properly. Pretty lucky if that's all I need to do to solve this.... Other than the wheel offset issue, the stance is right where I want it! Aggressively lowered, with a slight rake, and no scrapping!

Thanks guys! The kids were sick this weekend, so progress has been limited. Lucky enough to fit in some bench time after the kids were in bed. My attempt at worn/weathered seats:

Some good advise has already been posted here. This forum is an excellent resource already. I find that most builders here will gladly share tips and tricks if you ask. YouTube is another accessible resource with endless tutorials. I firmly believe that there is no wrong way to build a model, but there are ways to make things more realistic. As already pointed out – a little research into your subject goes a long way with realism. Windows/rubber/fiberglass don’t rust! Practice, trial and error also work well too. To date, I’ve built 6 weathered vehicles, and I’ve tried something new with each one. Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve found that a mistake or accident can easily be made to “look” like it was planned on a weathered vehicle. There is a lot of awesome rust/weathering products out there, but you don’t need to spend a lot of money to make paint look faded or worn. Flat clear and sandpaper are relatively cheap. Two products that I swear by and use in ALL of my builds are black (ink) wash and the Tamiya weather kits. They add realism and the more you use, the more “weathered’” the subject looks Layering paint is also an effective way to trick the eye into believing that a vehicle is weathered. I’ve applied yellow, orange, black, red, and other earth tones like browns and beige on top of the primer, but before the color coat for this effect with decent success. For painting weathered metal, remember to start with the dark tones and end with the light tones before the color coat. Oddly, you want the opposite when weathering “wood” – start with light tones, and end with a dark wash or transparent finish. The Sophisticated Finishes Rust set is a great product. I’ve used it on a coupe of builds a few years ago and I’m amazed that it continues to rust on top of the plastic car sitting on the shelf. Looks better now that it did 5 years ago. Just use with caution though – I’ve seen too many builds overuse the product. Just looks like a toy at that point.

Looks great - nice details. Got to ask - what's teh deal with the sign on the hood? I've never seen that before.

Thanks for the feedback. I can’t take credit for the roof chop – but the lines certainly add character to the build. Had no idea how the weathered wood was going to turn out, but I’m pleased how it looks now. The last pic is my favorite. Not sure why the others look so dark - they wee all taken in the exact same spot? I’m always impressed on how many ways a Woody can be built – I’d love to see some pics of your build. Can’t get enough of them Woodies!

saw this going down the road so had to build one
