  1. The paint looks great ? Nice work on this old kit
  2. x2! The end result is that much more impressive after seeing what there was to work with.
  3. Amazing work - it doesn't look any more realistic than that!
  4. Being a Honda geek, I like the N360. Exciting news about the BMW - I've been wanting to build one of those for a while...
  5. Thanks Jordan! …and now for a quick mock-up. Interesting how the colors change in different lighting conditions! Not the results that I was hoping for, but close the look I was trying to create. Still some more work to do, but almost there. So far, the Corvette wheels are looking the part for this truck. -Steve
  6. …More paint… More salt….. Repeat…..
  7. Sprayed some paint this weekend…. Here’s some primer – Red Oxide over grey, over black Tried my hand at the slat method for the first time….
  8. Excellent job. That carb linkage must have been a PITA to assemble
  9. Yup-cool idea
  10. All C1 Corvettes ('53-'62) use the same chassis. Maybe some small changes over the years, but ultimately the same design. The later versions of the C1 came equipped with the V8, as result of this very specific car. For my purposes, I have a '53 body and a complete '57 kit on hand - that would get me 97% of the parts needed to recreate the 1:1, including the small block V8. NOW - if you have an AMT '60 - '62 Corvette, it includes the headrest/fin to get you even further along.....
  11. I would love to see someone create a diorama of the Challenger/Jag scene from Vanishing Point! I remember that ebay listing - seemed pretty costly.... Also recall an AMT kit I had as a kid back in the '90s that had a similar fin in its optional parts. I think it was the '62 Corvette....could be wrong.....
  12. Not much in the way of up updates – still problem solving and piecing together the interior. I like the Corvette bucket seats, but they are just too low for a truck application. A comparison of my scratch building to the kit stock tub from my stash… The seats need some sort of riser… bring on the gift cards! Crude, but it works. Lots more tweaking left to do... The running boards are attached to the cab here. Also playing around with different wheel/tire combo. The AMT ’53 Corvette wheels fit better on the chassis than the Revell ’57 Bel Air wheels, but they don’t look nearly as cool… Wouldn't be difficult at all to turn these tires into white walls. A minor issue compared to everything else. I’ll get it sorted – may need to throw some paint on the body this weekend to see what works better! -Steve
  13. That's awesome! I was just contemplating the same subject for a future project....except I thought about using the AMT '57 Corvette chassis under the '53 body. Good luck on this project - I'll be following this one!
  14. Awesome! nice effort to recreate the 1:1
  15. Thanks Mark for the feedback. Going through a bit of a creative road block right now, so I'm taking a little break from this build at the moment. Will get back to it soon...
  16. That's a good looking view!
  17. Nice! it reminds me of some off my workbench projects, in addition to my past 1:1 projects that never came to fruition lol
  18. The hard (frustrating) work is paying off-sweet cab over!
  19. Looks cool so far...
  20. Nice, clean, and classy Nick. well done
  21. Nicely done-I think I prefer this colour to the OEM choices
  22. Completed the bed floor - used more gift cards for the job and added some left over components like the fuel cell and battery box from my '29 Ford. Ready for paint! The view from the rear... Extended the drive shaft by cutting off the U-joints and using some scrap for the extra length Make shift motor mounts made... In this mock up, you can really see how far the body has been dropped on the Corvette chassis... Motor nice and centered in the engine bay... ...and this shot just because I like it the stance....
  23. Welcome back to the hobby. The BMW looks great
