Tyres reacting with wheels
jamesG replied to Rockford's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think this may have happened to a few of my old models. Do you happen to have any pics you could share? -
It's been a few years but, yes, I used it. If I remember correctly it seemed a bit thicker and stronger than testors. I will not use ca glue on clear parts at all and very seldom on chrome to avoid fogging or crazing. Testors glue (tube) and liquid cements like tamiya, testors etc you need to remove paint from both parts for good bond.
-
Just getting back into the hobby myself so I don't have any first hand knowledge of a replacement as testors was is what I used in the past. I was however wondering if you have tried createx clears they have 2 lines, regular and uvls or spray max 1 and 2 part clears? Both products can be found on coast airbrush site.

Much respect to you (and others) working on such tiny parts. Great work so far, I'll be following. -

Awesome! I love the license plate. -
Very nice. I am wondering though about the different wheels.

First, thanks to Casey posting the instructions and reminding me that there were no mounts for this kit in the first place. From the engine bay they would be obscured by the headers from underneath they would be obviously missing. Not too big of a deal though as I will be to only one to see them.
-
Yes, I could do that. When i posted it looked like a very large gap to span between frame and engine a d didn't seem right. Also, the pics that came up from google were showing modern custom chassis. If I decide to do mounts I will likely mock the engine in per kit instructions (thanks casey) with Elmer's glue and go from there. There is so much unintended work I have to do on this one I may leave it box stock.
-
I cut the top of the can (just below where the nozzle goes) and filled it with sand for weight.
-
Thanks for the reply. Looks like the only thing that would touch the frame would be the fan.

It would seem there are no engine mounts for my 67 night stalker corvette and I dont know where to start. Any help including photos, drawings w/measurements or anything else would be greatly appreciated.
-
Update on night stalker vette. Slow going with sanding off all the old glue and restoring the nearly non existent panel lines. Hit a few snags along such the rear valance that went m.i.a. making a new one shouldn't be a problem though. I will also be making new rear axles from 1/8" plastic tube and brass rod. The real problem is the unrealized lack of engine mounts and I have no idea where to begin to correct it.

Very nice build. Great paint work. -
Cool! I really like that movie. I'll definitely follow this build.

Holy smokes!!! That dash is awesome. Not sure I would have the patience ( or eye sight for that.

Currently working on my nightstalker vette glue/spray bomb. Nothing special right now just a dip in lake Castrol and sanding. It will be mostly otb with perhaps a few small improvements and some detail paint work. Also finishing up a Lamborghini 500s again just an otb build.

Hi guy's. After being in and out of the hobby for years and off the forum for a while due to life getting in the way, I now find myself with a good bit of time on my hands due to hopefully short bout with cancer. I'm sure things have changed and people have come and gone but i'm looking forward to seeing new builds, sharing mine, learning some new tricks and re-learning some old ones.
-
hi guys, it's been a while but i'm trying to get back in to it. i have a few projects to finish including a lamborghini 500s, zombie truck and pro street mustang glue bomb rebuild. see ya around soon.

NEW DESIGN POSSIBILITIES
jamesG replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
an enclosed can-am. a nice commuter vehicle but not practical for me. I need something with hauling capacity. as for price I find it very affordable there are not many (if any) motorcycles under seven grand. -
Would love to see someone tackle this
