  1. I recently asked for informed opinions about the available 1/25 '70 Challengers on the market and was disappointed to learn that AMT/Round2/Whoever never got around to fixing that goofy roof, and Revell's version is based on a diecast and has the characteristic body issues that come with that. The pics also show that it's probably closer to 1/24 in scale. Since both kit bodies will require styrene surgery to correct their flaws, I'm considering using a resin body from Jimmy Flintstone instead. (I'm assuming he got the details and proportions down.) So...did Jimmy get his version right? If you've used his resin body can you post up some pics? Bonus question: will the shaker hood from the AMT kit work on the resin body if I decide to go that way?
  2. My best friend just traded his Xbox 360 in on a PS4. So far he's fairly happy with his decision, although he still prefers the design and feel of the Xbox controllers. Does someone make a reliable hybrid controller that looks and functions like a 360's but works with the PS4 setup? Links would be greatly appreciated if ya have 'em.
  3. I just saw where someone posted a pic of what AMT is now calling the Vanishing Point Challenger and I wondered if it was just the old Yankee Challenge kit. Am I correct in thinking it had a poorly crafted roof? The other 1/25 Challenger is Revell's Street Burner version, which, IIRC, has a wire axle up front. I'm curious how these two compare in these areas: 1) Body accuracy 2) Drivetrain/chassis accuracy Does either kit have any major flaws? If you could only buy one, which would you buy, and why?
  4. I can't wait to see what you do with this. Decades ago my best friend got one for Christmas. He mistakenly thought he could make his look like the box art without doing anything (painting or clearing) to the body. Are you thinking of updating the wheels & tires?
  5. Thanks for sharing the secret behind that incredible color. Couple other questions for ya: 1) Where did the wheels come from? 2) Was it a lot of work to get poseable steering?
  6. Wish I could build like that in three days. I'm also curious what you used for primer, undercoat (if any), paint and clear.
  7. I'm as surprised as you are that no model company other than Gunze-Sangyo has offered it in one of the more common scales (1/24 or 1/25), considering its popularity and rarity (both in plastic and 1:1) I'd think Tamiya would make a killing if they kitted this car since it's only real competition is the $100.00+ Gunze Sangyo kit which, despite all its other niceties, doesn't even include an engine.
  8. Looks like you guys are getting some fantastic results. I'd like to know a couple other things. 1) Does this paint require a primer, and if so, what did you use? 2) Draggon, do the metallics require a gold/silver/copper undercoat like a candy paint or are they fairly opaque? 3) I'm curious about drying time and how soon I could mask this stuff for a two-tone paint job.
  9. There used to be a "rule'' that when we asked for pics of cars painted with certain shades/brands/whatever the post was supposed to go in Under Glass since it usually featured other people's completed models. Didn't make much sense to me either, but I went along with it.
  10. They're acrylics, and the pictures I've seen are intriguing, but I haven't purchased any yet. I'm hoping some of you have used the pearls, opaques or translucent paints and have pics as well as your experiences with the paint (good or bad) you could share.
  11. Looks like you did a great job! That Tamiya paint is very close to Ford's Acapulco Blue, a 1962 Thunderbird color, and it looks like your painting ability matches your assembly skills. Couple questions: 1) Can you elaborate on what you did to create poseable steering? 2) Any particular reason you left the engine bay bracing white? Nice work overall, but you'd better add a driver's side mirror before Harry notices.
  12. I agree. I can look at C3 'Vettes all day, and this is going to be a nice one. It seems like we're starting to see more people get sharp results with these FolkArt paints. I may have to check them out for myself.
  13. That's got to be one of the best builds of that kit that I've seen on here, and your photography skills complement your modeling abilities. Nicely done!
  14. Thanks, Captain Obvious. As I said, these are basically 1/64 non-motorized diecast cars. What is keeping them moving along?
  15. I had quite a few of these cars as a kid, but they weren't motorized. What is propelling these cars? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI9zyhs7u8s
  16. Great subject, great color, great wheels & great stance. Well done!
  17. The '67 Ford is one of my favorite 1:1 full-size cars, and although they seem to be rare, it's always nice to see a model of one built this nicely. Al, I love the paint color choice. Do you happen to have Testors' part number for that? I don't see it in their listings.
  18. Tommy, will you be offering these headlight and tail light decals on your site? Unless I missed them, I don't think they were on the link another member provided.
  19. I actually stripped the wheels, painted them, and used foil on the rims. Brian, one more question if you don't mind. What specific paint did you use on the wheels? It looks like it matches the stripes perfectly.
  20. I'm familiar with the flaws and shortcomings of that old AMT kit, which, to me, makes your build even more remarkable. I assumed by now I'd seen just about every paint/interior combination out there, but yours, with its sinister black on red scheme enhanced by AMT's new tampo-printed tires, really stands out. I don't think anyone's ever been satisfied with this kit's tail lights, so your decal tail light trick seems to be an upgrade as well. One question: did you replace or use some other technique to enhance the look of the headlights? Yours look better than the chromed pieces that come as part of the grille assembly.
  21. Some time ago I came across two cans of Testors' old (early '80s) Car Colors in a discount bin. The labels have them listed as #1809 Gray Fern Metallic and #1811 Sand Gray Metallic, but the only indicator as to the true color is the little paper label on the top of the can. Does anyone have pics of anything built with these colors? I'd like to see what they look like on an actual kit body before opening them. Thanks!
  22. Sorry, I think this setup inhales vigorously. Anybody really buying that "It's to attract younger members" noise? If they're interested in models, they'll find the sites. They're good at stuff like that. I'm running Google Chrome and, among other annoyances, can't see any place to click for new content.
  23. As others have said, great build and great pictures. This was my favorite just because of the weathering, especially the wavy chrome trim along the side I hope we'll see more of your work soon
  24. The only thing that should be banned is politicizing a model because of its decals. To the wicked, everything serves as pretext. - Voltaire.
