  1. Dominik, you've done a remarkable job fixing all the flaws in this old kit, so it's no surprise that it turned out so well. Your penchant for getting the details right and your use of period-correct shades and colors have resulted in one of the nicest builds of that kit that I've ever seen.
  2. Great job, Tim. That paint color was a good choice and looks like it went on perfectly smoothly, while the interior and engine bay have some nice detailing touches. Bonus points for opening the doors and trunk. If you don't mind one suggestion, it looks like the letters above the grille area could use some BMF or Alclad. Congrats on your 'Stang, too!
  3. Nice to see one of my old favorites replicated so well. If possible, I'd also be interested in seeing some engine and chassis shots. I've never built anything made by Italeri, so I'm curious how well engineered this kit was. Would you say it was kinda fiddly or fairly straightforward?
  4. I'd recommend getting very familiar with some of the more important aspects of airbrushes before diving in. This site is written by one of our members and will explain important differences such as single action vs double action, internal mix vs external mix and gravity feed vs siphon feed. https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/home
  5. I noticed those too. What's the secret for masking them off without paint bleeding under etc? Very nice work on the Challenger, BTW.

    1967 Impala SS

Wow, where do I start with the compliments? The first thing that struck me was the paint. Great shade of red, nicely applied, and it's not blue like 99% of the other '67 Impalas we see on here. Additional kudos for some well done chassis, engine bay and interior detailing. It was also nice to see someone do the black detailing on the Keystones. Most people seem to skip that anymore. Do you recall what paint you used on the body? If you happen to remember where the Keystones came from, I'd also like to know. (Definitive input from other members also welcome) I'm thinking they're from the Revell '68 Charger, but don't have one to compare.
  7. Looks like our favorite Russian has reset the bar for these Moebius '71 Ford pickups. It's going to take something special to compete with this one.
  8. I've been thinking about building one of my old MPC '78 Silver Anniversary Corvettes http://www.iagclassics.com/CarPix/78CorvetteAnniversary/ebay/78-Corvette-Anniversary-001.jpg and I wondered if it could be done using Model Masters Metalizers to paint the body. I can already see some issues that might complicate things: 1) I'm not sure there's a Metalizer that'll replicate the main silver color. 2) I don't know how well Metalizer will stand up to all the masking required for this paint job. 3) From past discussions, it doesn't sound like Metalizers work well over primers. If I end up using a regular silver hobby paint for the main color, will I still be able to use a Metalizer for the lower shade? (Will it adhere?) Bonus question: If I need them, are aftermarket pinstripe decals available for this kit? TIA for all helpful replies & pics with descriptions of your own work.
  9. As Casey said, Ebay has some resin versions that should provide the look you're going for. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=1969+Mustang&_osacat=2580&_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=minilite+wheels&_sacat=2580
  10. My Raiders may finally be back on the road to respectability! The O-line has gelled into a much more cohesive unit, providing much better run-blocking than last year as well as allowing far fewer sacks. With the addition of Amari Cooper, Derek Carr now has a big-time WR to throw to (AC/DC!), and, as last week's game against a very good Jets secondary showed, there are several other good receivers who can contribute. The defense is still a bit of a WIP (we could really use a shut-down CB) but after some shuffling and juggling of players, it has shown that it can exert a lot of pressure (it kept Manning and the Broncos from scoring an offensive touchdown). In addition, now that the new coaching staff is more familiar with what they have to work with, the play calling has gotten much better. I'm not saying we're going to the playoffs, but I truly believe the days of us being an automatic win for everyone else are over.
  11. Copy and paste this onto your URL line and hit Enter. site:modelcarsmag.com createx paints You should see several past threads about these paints.
  12. I don't think it'll be all that different from what you're doing now. Here's a video showing someone using it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plNhe76cbYo Testors says the paints come pre-thinned so the only point where you might differ from the video poster is the amount of pressure you use with your airbrush, as he admits he sprays at a higher pressure than most of us. I asked for opinions about these paints on here back in September and I received very favorable reviews and some great pictures to back them up. I intend to buy several of these colors myself.
  13. I had a landline with an unlisted number for 15 years, but couldn't escape the robo-callers or the various "charity" callers (Police Benevolence etc ) who were apparently part of a large group that bought and sold working phone numbers. I thought I'd outsmarted them when I bought a Panasonic phone set (KX-TGC222S) that allowed me to permanently block up to 30 numbers. I used all my blocks up in two months. Posterior orifices, all of them.
  14. I appreciate your help in showing me what Tamiya's Italian Red looks like. I guess I was expecting it to look more red-orange a la Testors Italian Red and Humbrol Ferrari Red. BTW, welcome to our board! After checking out the two builds above as well as your current Mopar project, I'd have to agree that Tamiya paints work very well for you.
  15. Given their recent output, maybe Moebius will consider doing one.
  16. That's sad. For years I had been naively hoping there would be a reunion of all remaining original members, especially Chuck Negron, but that's not gonna happen.
  17. Over the years I've seen a lot of people show some incredible paint jobs using Tamiya's TS-series spray paints and I was wondering if someone had outside pictures of separate models painted with TS-8 (Italian Red) and TS-49 (Bright Red). I'm asking about outside pictures because I think that gives me the best way to compare the two shades, as indoor pics seem to have an effect on how the paint actually looks. TIA for all helpful replies
  18. Once again, you've picked an outstanding color for a build. Are you having to order the Dupli-Color paints you use, or are you able to find them in your local auto supply stores? I'm curious because the local auto supply stores here don't carry a whole lot of stock, and most of what they have is already covered by the hobby industry.
  19. OP, I'll leave the compressor choice up to you, but I will say you'd be better served by acquainting yourself with some of the features that different 'brushes have. For example, do you prefer internal or external mix? Siphon feed or gravity feed? Once you get things like this sorted out, you will probably enjoy airbrushing much more than if you just took a stab at it based on someone else's recommendation. Luckily, we have a member with a site that explains all the stuff you need to know to get started. https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/ PS He prefers Badger's Anthem 155 - it's unique setup allows one needle to do everything from fine lines to much wider patterns, where other 'brushes would require a needle change.
  20. OK, I'm confused. Art got brilliant results and you got...that. Could the difference be in the base paint? I think Art used lacquer, while you used acrylic.
  21. I've got a number of resin wheels I'd like to use once they've been made to look like polished aluminum or chrome. I'm kinda interested in this stuff 'cuz it seems to be brighter than the other powder and may hold up better than some other sprays. If I can ask a huge favor of those of you who already have some of this stuff, would you mind trying it over the recommended metallic blue base on a resin wheel so I can see if that's the way to go?
  22. SFD, my compliments on these WIPs. The color choices you made for the Hudson, along with your painstaking BMF work, will result in a fantastic replica. As an Olds fan and an owner of that kit, I like what you've done so far and I can't wait to see how yours turns out. Being a replica stock fan, I also noticed that the paint you used on your DeSoto looks remarkably similar to DeSoto's Capri Turquoise Poly paint. Nice match! In addition, I wanted to say that I appreciate how you list the paint names used in your projects. That Dupli-Color Bright Teal looks like the perfect shade for a project of mine.
  23. Nice work! Just out of curiosity, does this kit offer a regular rear bumper for those who don't want to use the continental kit setup? Question or the board: is there a review of this kit? I'm still not up to speed on how to search for things anymore (tips on that would be welcome too).
  24. I recently asked for informed opinions about the available 1/25 '70 Challengers on the market and was disappointed to learn that AMT/Round2/Whoever never got around to fixing that goofy roof, and Revell's version is based on a diecast and has the characteristic body issues that come with that. The pics also show that it's probably closer to 1/24 in scale. Since both kit bodies will require styrene surgery to correct their flaws, I'm considering using a resin body from Jimmy Flintstone instead. (I'm assuming he got the details and proportions down.) So...did Jimmy get his version right? If you've used his resin body can you post up some pics? Bonus question: will the shaker hood from the AMT kit work on the resin body if I decide to go that way?
  25. My best friend just traded his Xbox 360 in on a PS4. So far he's fairly happy with his decision, although he still prefers the design and feel of the Xbox controllers. Does someone make a reliable hybrid controller that looks and functions like a 360's but works with the PS4 setup? Links would be greatly appreciated if ya have 'em.
