I remember this from your WIP thread. The lowering of the suspension made a nice difference and color really stands out. I wonder how many people you got to try Folk Art paint after seeing how yours turned out. As for honing your skills, that comes with time and repetition, pretty much like everything else in life. OTOH, forums like this are great places to learn new things, which is why I'm on here almost every day. We've got some fantastic builders, most of whom are happy to help explain techniques etc to anyone who asks. Given the way your 'Stang turned out, I don't think you have much to worry about anyway.

Jonathan, I'm glad to see you finally got everything done. You did a great job on this build, including the tire decal placement, and I'll bet your dad was amazed by the quality of your work.

Do Canadian hobby shops sell Revell enamel paints?
Monty replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hmmm...Revell's site says their paints aren't available in Canada either. -
Please post pics of builds you painted with any hobby-type gold*
Monty replied to Monty's topic in Model Cars
I wonder how many others were surprised by the range of shades that come under the heading of "gold". This thread has shown me that there are a number of options, but I hope it also helps others looking for just the right shade of gold to complete a build. My thanks again to all who took the time to post pics of their gold builds. Very nice stuff! -
From what I see, you've done a great job. That particular shade of green you chose gives it a little more authenticity, being a common color back then. That kit just begs to be two-toned, which, to look its best, means masking everything off properly. You nailed that as well as the trim work, too. Very nice work overall. I don't recall that washer fluid bag being part of the kit. If it wasn't, it's a great addition.

I don't think I've seen that color on a model before, but it absolutely pops. Nice work!
-
I'll have to agree with everybody else - I would've assumed this was 1/25 if you hadn't stated otherwise. Very nice work! Did you use paint or a scribing tool to bring out the door lines?
-
Tom, that's an outstanding color you've chosen. If you're running those wheels and tires, you must have something really special planned for the engine. Great start!

I truly don't mean to come off as antagonistic, but it looks like he's either just a repackager or a reseller of HoK paints. By all accounts it's fantastic paint, but is there an advantage in dealing with him vs buying straight from HoK?

Some established model-related businesses (Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland etc) can use their lack of web presence to keep the amount of business at a level that keeps them from getting swamped, but I don't understand how a start-up business can get off the ground if no one knows it exists. I want guys like this to succeed because it's likely he'll have something I want, but I still have no clue how to find answers regarding the things I mentioned in my original post.

That's the frustrating thing - the few times I've seen projects that used his paint, they looked sharp, but IIRC "Bob" doesn't have a website where you can check out his colors or pricing etc. What's a prospective customer supposed to do if they're interested in seeing what colors are available, what kinds of paint are being sold (enamels, lacquers etc) and what the paint and shipping costs are?
-
They appear to be 15" wheels, but I don't have a side view picture to help ID them. I'm pretty sure they're not Keystone Klassics, as these have "windows" that are more triangular as a whole. Show your work.

Helmut, if you truly think this kit needs rebuilding, please do it in the same colors. It may be 30 years old, but it looks sharp.

Looks like you did a great job on the paint and assembly, Wilson. Welcome to our board, hope you'll enjoy yourself!

So who's got this thing and is it finished yet? From the pics I've seen it didn't look like there was much left to do.

This was inspired by the South Park episode where Randy Marsh goes on Wheel of Fortune & infamously screws up the answer.

You seem to be having good luck with those HOK paints, and this particular shade looks close to some of the factory colors of the day, but with a little more pop. That white roof really sets it off nicely, too. The redlines look sharp and the Sypders are a nice alternative to the ubiquitous Cragar S/S wheels. Question: did you modify the suspension or does this kit build up with that stance? Either way, I like it!

1970 Dodge Charger R/T?
Monty replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get the feeling there may be a lot more pent-up demand for a great '70 Charger than Revell realizes, so I hope that body shell in the picture means someone is at least kickin' the idea around. I'd be ecstatic if they could do it as a base model with R/T options (grille, door scoop covers, etc). Is that feasible? -
1970 Dodge Charger R/T?
Monty replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So are you saying no one's allowed to wonder if the body will be "off" like some other kits based on die-casts? Apparently this kind of speculation isn't new when it comes to concerns about how Revell may decide to produce this kit. Here's what Casey (Moderator) said all the way back in 2011: I hope Revell wouldn't release a '70 Dodge Charger based on a die-cast model/tooling. We need only look at the Revell '70 Dodge Challenger R/T T/A kit to see the shortcomings of such ideas. You also seem to feel the need to protect Revell from any criticism they might incur by releasing a die-cast - based kit. Should we just hope that they'll consider making it with the headlight doors closed, or just be thankful we're getting any '70 Charger at all? Ever wonder why the guys at Missing Link Resin used Revell's '69 Charger as the basis for their '70? -
I'll have to let someone with direct experience answer your questions. The situations I mentioned were from an HOA thread on a Corvette forum I'm on. I didn't even know HOAs existed till about 5 years ago, and I've never lived in one of "their" neighborhoods.
